dlbalr
Might as well get this thread going as Team Canada's intrasquad games start tonight with some cuts coming immediately thereafter. Bournival and Gallagher are on Team Red while Beaulieu is on Team White. Apparently the games will be streamed by Hockey Canada, I'll keep an eye out for a link for those interested. As for other countries, Daniel Pribyl is still in the mix for the Czechs while Jarred Tinordi is with the US team right now. Swedish prospect John Westin didn't make the team. As always, once the tournament gets going, I will have a StatTracker on the main site for the Hab prospects. Here's the tournament schedule: http://www.tsn.ca/world_jrs/schedule/ TV wise, here's the scheduling or who will be showing the games: Canada Sweden USA - NHL Network (usually US games and select Canadian ones) Finland - MTV3/Canal Plus

dlbalr
Relevant lines/combos for the Hab prospects at Team Canada camp: Red L2 - Phil Di Giuseppe – Michael Bournival – Brett Bulmer Red L3 - Michael Ferland – Mark McNeill – Brendan Gallagher White D3 - Nathan Beaulieu - Cody Ceci
Commandant
Looks like the red and white teams are flipped. Beaulieu on Red, Bournival/Gallagher on white. Beaulieu has an assist on Red's goal; and its 1-1 late in the first.
Commandant
Beaulieu looked good running the PP for his team.
bbp
Beaulieu looked good running the PP for his team. BRING HIM UP! haha
Commandant
Gallagher wins a board battle with Jamie Oleksiak (6'7")
Commandant
The bad: Beaulieu giveaway leads to a breakaway for team White. The good: Beaulieu skates back like a madman and steals the puck back negating the breakaway.
Commandant
Ray Ferraro loves Gallagher's versatility, net drive, and ability to kill penalties... was the guy he highlighted tonight on Sportscentre. oh and Bob McKenzie just tweeted that Gallagher is a lock to make the team on RW. And Peter Loubardias just wrote this article gushing about him. http://futureconsiderations.ca/loubardias-gallagher-locked-in-for-canada/
Commandant
Some trades. Gallagher is now on Red. Bournival and Beaulieu are both on white.
dlbalr
Sort of a 'qualified positive' regarding Beaulieu after the 1st period tonight: -Nathan Beaulieu is looking more and more like a power play specialist. Shown some good things with the man-advantage. Hasn't shown much else other than that. http://futureconside...kes-day-2-game/ 2 penalties for Gallagher in the 1st, that I don't like. Commandant
Sort of a 'qualified positive' regarding Beaulieu after the 1st period tonight: http://futureconside...kes-day-2-game/ 2 penalties for Gallagher in the 1st, that I don't like. First off, fair disclosure; I didn't see the game.. I checked a few twitter acccounts on him. Aaron Vickers - Future considerations (ie the article above) - seemed to think he won't make it. Corey Pronman - Hockey Prospectus - has said Beaulieu should make the team and be a top 6 guy. Sam Roberge - Hockey Prospect.com - very down on him, didn't stand out enough to make it. Rossy Youngblood - DobberHockey - Beaulieu should make the team as the 7th d/PP Specialist. Could even sneak into top 6. The Pipeline Show - Beaulieu should make the team and be first unit PP. Didn't say if he was a 7th or top 6. So he's getting mixed reviews..... He should at least survive the first cut, IMO; and play tonight in the WJC vs CIS all stars game, but who knows if he makes the final roster? ==================== As for Gallagher, the coaching staff is disappointed that not enough forwards drove the net hard. Gallagher got two goalie interference penalties. This may be a case of penalties they didn't mind seeing in a tryout game. Of course he needs to dial it back a little, but he's one of the few going hard to the net.
Commandant
First cuts Dmen Jerome Gauthier-Leduc Scott Kitchon Matt Dumba Fwds Max Reinhart Mark McNeil Michael Ferland Zach Phillips Roster now sits at 35..... 23 will be the final number. dlbalr
Only one that's a real surprise is Dumba, quite a few thought he was a darkhorse to make it as the 7th D.
Commandant
Gauthier-Leduc and Dumba being cut certainly help Beaulieu's cause. But he's not guaranteed a spot yet. Don't see anyone else who paves the way for Bournival or Gallagher, as these really aren't the guys they were competing with for their spots (Gallagher a lock IMO; Bournival is more competing with Boone Jenner, and other energy line Centre candidates, where the Centres cut today, Phillips and McNeil wouldn't be those guys even if they make the team). Commandant
Gallagher a healthy scratch for Team Canada's game against the CIS All-stars tonight. Good sign, probably means he made the team, and they don't need to see any more from him
dlbalr
Although officially that isn't the case according to the coaching staff, I'm inclined to think it's a good sign as well.
Commandant
Although officially that isn't the case according to the coaching staff, I'm inclined to think it's a good sign as well. Yeah, I know they haven't announced it yet... but lets look at things. The healthy scratches are Fwd Schiefele Smith Pelley Schwartz Gallagher Stone Freddie Hamilton Defence Gormley Dougie Hamilton Murray I guarantee you every single one of these guys makes the team. dlbalr
Like I said, I'm with you in that it's a sign he's made it. Just going by the 'official' word. Lines for tonight: Phil Di Giuseppe – Ryan Strome – Christian Thomas Tanner Pearson – Boone Jenner – Tyler Toffoli Brad Ross – Philip Danault – Ty Rattie Brett Bulmer – Michael Bournival – Brett Connolly Nathan Beaulieu – Cody Ceci Joe Morrow – Ryan Murphy Jamie Oleksiak – Alex Petrovic Scott Harrington – Mark Pysyk Bournival with Connolly is interesting, the latter isn't your prototypical 4th liner. Hopefully that's an intended duo on one of the lines for the real tournament but I'd be skeptical of that.
Commandant
Agreed, its probably not an expected Duo for 5 on 5 in the tournament. Can Connolly kill penalties? Is it trying out a PK Duo. Could be punishment to Connolly too, saying your playing on the fourth line for this game, when you otherwise would have been one of the locks, due to the hit on Howden. Howden hurt opens up another bottom 6 spot if he can't go (Concussion Symptoms)
Commandant
Beaulieu running the Team Canada PP like a boss. @VickersFC Beautiful back door pass from Pearson from Beaulieu. There's that Beaulieu PP expertise. Other way around sorry. Beaulieu passed to Pearson 14 minutes ago fan960walker Andrew Walker Toffoli from Jenner and Beaulieu. 1-0 Canada over CIS all-stars. #2012WJC My belief: Canada's D, apart from 4 locks, will wind up Pysyk, Harrington, and Oleksiak. Watch for Petrovic/Ceci/Murphy/Morrow cut 4 Locks being Hamilton/Murray/Gormley/Beaulieu #2012WJC
Commandant
Beaulieu GOAL! 1g 1a on the Team Canada PP. HockeyProspect HockeyProspect.com Nathan Beaulieu scoes a nice goal. Even before the goal he is having asolid game and making a good bid. 2-2 - markhmasters Mark Masters Saint John's Nathan Beaulieu scores on the PP; two-point effort so far as he stakes a claim to one of the remaining defensive spot
Commandant
Bournival scores a goal now, and its a beauty. JeffBlay Jeff Blay Bournival follows up with a snipe just under the cross bar. Impressive individual effort. #WJC Plus he's been the go to guy on the penalty kill. VickersFC Aaron Vickers Brett Bulmer and Michael Bournival have seen the majority of the PK time this game. sakiqc
Promising. Besides Subban and Price, when was the last time we had Habs prospect playing for Team Canada in the WJC? Looks like we may have more than 1 this year. Exciting!
