Habs re-sign Christian Thomas

I guess I assumed he would be re-signed, but if wasn't wouldn't of been big shocker neither.

He got his QO so we knew he'd get a new deal. Hopefully it's for a good NHL pay cut (around the $600k range).

I liked the kid in his stint with us...but rarely have I seen a player get clocked with big hits as often as CT. I'm not sure why that was, but it didn't bode well for his prospects as a bona-fide NHLer.

Thomas will get $600k in the NHL - his QO was for $850,500 so I'm sure he's getting a nice AHL raise.

Which also sounds like not much chance he is coming up to the big club.

He helped his chance of spending time with Montreal by taking less than he could have at the NHL level though.

yeah maybe, but the way I see it if his Ahl salary is high then he expects to be there. If it was low he would be coming up. He is a good kid, we will have to see how it all turns out.

Tinordi's likely to get a similar deal but realistically, he has next to no chance of being in the AHL (since it's highly unlikely he'd clear waivers). The higher AHL salary (which is likely to be in the $100k-$125k range) is simply the trade-off for taking the lower NHL salary. I wouldn't say it has anything to do with the likelihood/expectation that he'll play for St. John's.

ok so who cares what his AHL salary is if he isn't going to play there. Using Tinordi as an example I do not see the trade off of lower nhl salary for higher Ahl if he is going to stay up. I would want the most amount of money I could get for the place I think I will most likely be playing most of the time.
