Colin
I'm stoked to not see Emelin again. We should ship that guy back to Russia. Okay, this one is for the Hockey Gods, the Forum Ghosts, whomever is willing to listen. Please, please, please, please, please. A trade - a good one, mind - for an elite centre. That, some health (Markov, thank you), and one more big, hitting defender, and our lineup is within spitting distance of the Hawks.

Or physicality? Bring back Stephane Quintal!
DON
What's not to like about Emelin? Do you not like talent? Or physicality? Bring back Stephane Quintal! Everyone has an opinion, i am not sure how you even make a good assessment of a rookie d-man after this short a stint, especially when d-man generally take a while to progress, like Gorges did. But I think he is all that he was advertised to be and has really impressed many and i would be playing him every game, playing 3 soft offensive d-men like Diaz, Campoli and Kaberle seems like 1 too many. And Diaz is not the one i would be sitting, but maybe Campoli will improve?? Cunnyworth is sitting Yemelihn for a reason and i guess having too many d-men is a good problem to have. But Weber will likely be gone in new year and hopefully they can get a 2nd round pick for him, or package him with Cammalleri. Habs generally do well vs the Blackhawks and be nice to see Randy get his first win.
Colin
Trade freeze... After the break. I'm just putting it in here. Expect a theme. What's not to like about Emelin? Do you not like talent? dlbalr
I wondered if they might have given Emelin the game today with having a few days off after for the coaches to review the video to help assess where his progression is with regards to adjusting to playing the right side. Evidently, that's not the case (or he is showing in practice that he's not ready to handle it). Or they're going to try that tomorrow, who knows? That was my working theory before I saw the lineup. One of the common opinions (not just here, but on other boards) is that Campoli should be the one sitting. We need to remember that he didn't exactly have a training camp, his conditioning (as a result of his late contract and early injury) is probably where it should be...in late September. The best is (hopefully) yet to come from him as he gets back into shape. Playing the team that walked away from his arbitration award should serve as some motivation; I expect a good game from him tonight.
brobin
A loss should be expected tonight. I would love a surprise win, but l don't expect it, nor will i be that worked up if they lose. I just hope they play hard and for 60 minutes.

GO BACK TO THE KHL FAST!!!!!!!! JUST ######ING BRUTAL. It's been answered about 10 times already. For him to play, he needs to be on the right side right now (Gill, Gorges, and Kaberle are set as the LD's with Campoli playing out of position already). Recent in-game evidence has shown that he is not capable of doing so without being a liability to the team. So rather than keep throwing him to the wolves and having him fail (which would do wonders for his confidence), they're giving him a chance to learn the position in practice so that when he plays, he'll be in a better position to succeed. That's a bad thing? The success of this team does not hinge on Alexei Emelin's presence or lack thereof in this lineup.

Yes it is who else is going to hit back there? we have waited a long time for a d man like him and we sit the hell out of him. maybe if he would stop hitting he would play. Sit gill!!!!!! Yeah, sitting the anchor of the league's 2nd best PK is always the way to go. Someone suggested dressing Gill as the 7th D which could have some merit if they want to get Emelin in the lineup. But seriously, you want to cheer against the Habs because a rookie (yes, a rookie sitting which is common on every team in the league) is out of the lineup for consecutive games? He can hit. If he can't cover the winger in the defensive zone though (and he's shown he can't on the right side), it doesn't really matter.
Lovett's Magnatones
I don't mind him sitting...sitting is exactly what he'll be doing for probably a long time. I like his physicality, but time and time again, the last five years have proven that this ISNT what management is looking for. Markov's return, and subsequently being paired with him, is Emelins last chance to crack the top six. Breaking up Gorges and Subban isnt an option. I feel for the guy, takes twenty games to adjust to the new ice surface, and wham! Now you can learn the other side.

You enjoying watching Montreal getting beaten up out there? Hoping for the Habs to get battered around, that's the sign of a true fan alright... Stat of the game (beyond the hit totals) so far: After being brutal in the faceoff dot (2/15) on Monday, Desharnais is the only Hab above 33% tonight (6/7).
