Sweet play

Watching it live, I'm thinking 'Why are you passing, you had a wide ope...nice play.'

Plekanec is having a nice game at the faceoff dot, he's a perfect 9/9 so far.

Smith-Pelly hasn't played much but has made his presence felt. That's what he's going to need to do if he wants to get off the fourth line. Heck, with Byron expected to play tomorrow, he may need to keep this up to simply stay in the lineup.

Subban's had a rough night in his own end so far. Pastrnak had no business getting the puck from him and doubling down on the mistake, Subban overplayed the point shot and forgot he was there. Then on the PP, he turned it over with Marchand forechecking (Galchenyuk's partially to blame there as well). Despite that, Subban officially has zero giveaways so far. The inconsistent scoring with that stat is crazy.

Although they let up a bit at the end, that was a really good period from the Habs. They were aggressive and controlled a lot of the play, the first time that has been the case so far this year. Good to see.

Poor Petry, he wasn't having the best of games to begin with and he winds up scoring on his own net.

Most of the guys really played well Semin Galchenyuk eller looked outstanding. Desharnais and his line looked real good. If we could figure out how to run a power play we would have beat them 6-1. Craig Ramsay better get to work.

Not sure what Mitchell was doing there, but heyyyyyy how bout that win!

He's suspended for tomorrow pending a hearing as a result of his match penalty for slewfooting. If upheld, the 4th line tomorrow would be Byron-Flynn-Smith-Pelly.

We've learned that the PP isn't getting fixed overnight. It looked good early and then reverted to old tactics (ie, Subban, Subban, Subban, Subban, Markov, Subban, forwards). Some positive signs earlier on though.

Seeing as how Byron is an Ottawa native, I think he was gonna draw in anyways....so it'd be a good game to be suspended for.

Nice to win a game because we outplayed them at every step, as opposed to because Price was better than the other team's entire roster.

Price was decent, but ordinary. Rask was amazing. We won anyway because we had the better team on the ice.
