TheDriveFor25
No chance he gets picked up... maybe AHL?
Machine of Loving Grace
Pretty sure we have mounds of salary cap space already. Looks to me like a buyout, plus much like Komisarek they are going to let him play in the AHL to showcase himself. Can't see anyone picking up a 35 year old with limited defensive ability unless they really need a powerplay option.

I'm told MTL doesn't plan on demoting Kaberle if he clears but will have ability to do so if necessary. Looks like he's not going to the AHL, just doing this for cap flexibility. Looks like MB might be going after a player or 2 at the deadline the would require cap space.
Machine of Loving Grace
Ah, interesting. Our deadline AAV is already $15M and adding Kaberle means we can add whoever we want (I think we only get $900K due to new waiver rules)
Lovett's Magnatones
Leopold goes to the Blues. I wonder if the habs are in on the Bouwmeester Derby, he's a left handed shot, and they have picks and prospects to spare.

If they add a player or two before Wednesday, Kaberle could temporarily be sent down to free up a spot for an acquisition. They have more than enough cap space to make some additions and leave plenty to offset any potential bonuses hit as well.

Nothing after that but they can be tight against the cap with him.

I used to see Voynov up in Manchester last year playing for their AHL affiliate. He was great, I don't know if they have the prospects to put a package together. But with Feaster, anything is possible.
TurdBurglar
The 900k removed by waiving Kaberle, is it taken off the total of his cap hit or remaining on his cap hit? If it's total it takes 900k of 4.5m If it's remaining it's 900k of 768k roughly, which would mean no hit for Kaberle, at this point. I'm honestly not sure how it works. Anyone? Treat his cap hit moving forward as if it was $3.6 million. If they do send him down, I'll have to add a second line on my capsheet (one for the days at his regular rate, one at the number of days with the cap charge at $3.6 M). Again though, I really doubt they'd send him down unless they needed the roster spot.
habs rule
According to Big Head Bob Kaberle has cleared waivers, sad state of affairs considering how good burkie thought he was. Maybe burke aint tht great of a talent guru.
dlbalr
Worth noting is that he was not sent down to Hamilton as some were hoping for. This just means that they now have the option to do so should they need a roster spot between now and 3 PM on April 3rd.
revvvrob
I guess we now have conclusive evidence that Kaberle was untradeable.
Trizzak
I guess we now have conclusive evidence that Kaberle was untradeable. He's totally tradeable. Is Jussi Jokinen also untradeable? No, it's all about taking money back in a trade, something Montreal is probably unwilling to do.
Habsy
I guess we now have conclusive evidence that Kaberle was untradeable.Exactly...we were warned when the trade was made. As for taking money back? Of course they would, if it was better than buying him out. Which happens this summer. Now go get Jagr or Clowe and try to get more home dates in the playoffs. Gain valuable experience for our young players, and make the Kaberle buyout easier to digest.

TurdBurglar
Nobody is untradeable but not every trade is worth the price. This. We would have to give more away for a team to take Kaberle. If this year was the last of his contract he would be marketable, since it's not nobody wants to pay him next year.

If this year was the last of his contract he would be marketable, since it's not nobody wants to pay him next year. Why is everyone playing word games? It's semantics. His contract makes him untradeable. The precise reason why he's still with the organization. I hope MB can prove the so called experts who said so from the beginning wrong. The precise reason why he's still with the organization. I hope MB can prove the so called experts who said so from the beginning wrong. He's not untradeable. There's no such thing as untradable in the NHL. Here's an example and values will probably be off, but it's an example. To Edmonton: Weber To Montreal: Ryan Jones If we were to throw Kaberle in that trade and make it work, it may be something like this: To Edmonton: Weber + Kaberle + 2nd To Montreal: Ryan Jones Notice how we would have to add a pick to get Kaberle traded? the other team would require compensation for doing us a "favor." No such thing as untradable, just the cost of the trade for us makes it not worth it. The only way we would get a fair value trade for kaberle would be to hold back 2m-3m of his contract, and why would we do that when we could just buy him out right now instead? Habsy
And that cost makes it not worth it, and untradeable. Just like the annoying experts said. He's not dead. He has equipment, the desire to play. Nobody wants him. Keep dreaming up scenarios. It's hilarious. I'll give you an A for effort though.

Habsy
Hey, semantics was my word a few posts earlier! Sure, Brendan Gallagher and Kaberle for a 17th rounder should get er done. I'll repeat it one last time. The annoying experts we'd all love to see get it wrong, said he was untradeable the day we acquired him. He's still here, and may get bought out this summer. Why? Because?......you guessed it.
