  1. I was under the impression his entry level contract is completed this summer. What does that mean if true, does Montreal still have rights to him? If so, what kind of options for Montreal or for the player?
  2. I agree with dlbair, this is a young player and what he does or does not do will not be truly indicative of what he will become. He continues to mature and grow, let us give him some time, patience.
  3. Really Iginla is not worth a first round pick, not at this point in his career! Have no faith in Yakupov and do not believe he is. Bergervin type of player.
  4. I do not believe Yakupov fits the Marc Bergervin character mold. I just do not see him in Montral.
  5. Why so much love for Yakupov? He was very good in juniors but that alone does not guarantee success. Potential yes but certainty of achieving success not so much.
  6. And who will give you that player? I believe MB should be patient and continue his plan. He probably sees the answer in Hamilton with our young defensemen.
  7. Can a 42 year old player help? Feel good and Look good stories does not win games. If he comes to Montreal I will cheer for him and hopes he does well but I just think MB can do better.
  8. Now that the Flyers appear to be severely over the salary cap because of the Lecavalier signing, do they have players Montreal would be interested in via a trade?
  9. This discussion can now be ended. Lecavalier is a Flyer, no more what ifs or coulda or woulda. It is over. Montreal moves on with Bergervin's plan. I am fine with the scenario. Elvis has also left the building.
  10. Bergevin said he tried to move up and he was willing to pay the price requested but the team decided to keep the pick. Timmins said they were willing to dance but could not find a partner willing to dance. Seems to me the team did its work and just could not get the other team to say yes. I would like to know who the team(s) were and who Montreal was trying to select. I believe they wanted Morin or Gauthier.
  11. For the right deal I would consider letting Pleks go.
  12. I liked his news conference. Why on earth would he tell the world what is being said in those phone calls to other GMs, you do not build trust with others when you share everything with the media. I have no difficulty with his non committal answers, he is working and when the draft is completed and the FA period is done then you can discuss and trash accordingly.
  13. Not really but hockey players are business people as well as passionate hockey players. Nothing wrong with looking out for your financial interest when making any decision that will impact your family and future. Lecavalier is a passionate hockey player and I am sure he loves Montreal but when he makes a decision he must look at all the factors and one of those has to be financial benefits. I would love to have him in Montreal but I just do not have a great deal of confidence it will happen.
