The Chicoutimi Cucumber
Pretty sure DON was being sardonic, referencing the tendency of folks hereabouts to canonize raw rookies as sure-fire core players year after year - like people who seriously expected Tinordi and Beaulieu to become regulars out of training camp in 2013. Sekac is equally likely to end up in Hamilton as he is to end up in the top-9.
dlbalr
According to Guillaume Latendresse of RDS (yes, it has come to this), it's now official that Bouillon will be at camp on a PTO. http://www.rds.ca/hockey/canadiens/bouillon-sera-au-camp-du-ch-1.1343003
DON
I guess shouldn't be a huge surprise, but will really piss a lot of people off.
Machine of Loving Grace
I guess shouldn't be a huge surprise, but will really piss a lot of people off. I'm actually quite good with a PTO. I wasn't good with him just being signed like a free agent.
Guest Stogey24
I'm not a fan at all. Unless he's on a two way deal, I wouldn't sign him. We have drewiski if we need a vet 7th d-man. Let the kids get the reps.

Machine of Loving Grace
But after 25 games he has to be sign or something like that right? I know nothing about contracts If Cube goes to camp and clearly outplays guys like Pateryn and Drewskie, I won't have complaints on him playing as a 7th/8th defenceman. But I personally doubt that happens.
Lovett's Magnatones
When's the last time a team signed their own UFA to a PTO? Just curious, and a good trivia question.
The Chicoutimi Cucumber
When's the last time a team signed their own UFA to a PTO? Just curious, and a good trivia question. When was the last time a team signed their own UFA who had BO and saw a UFO to a PTO with an NGO? NHL alphabet soup. Pretty simple logic, if Bouillon outplays other guys then he deserves to be there. Frankly, for Beaulieu and Tinordi to arrive at camp with anything other than peak condition and the eye of the tiger would be inexcusable, and for them to be outplayed by a scrub like Honey Boo Boo would tell us a lot about them. As for Drewiske, the team clearly does not think of him as NHL-material. If he was a downgrade on Bouillon last year, why wouldn't he be this year? So that's a case for giving Boo Boo a chance to be the 7th guy. Only irrational hatred of Bouillon would make it otherwise.
dlbalr
When's the last time a team signed their own UFA to a PTO? Just curious, and a good trivia question. New Jersey did this a week or two ago with Ryan Carter who played 62 games for them last year. That said, it's not very common. Teams will often give a PTO to someone who played on the farm team the previous season but usually not someone who was on their NHL squad. dlbalr
There are some rumblings out there that should Bouillon not make the team, he'll be NLA-bound and that he won't accept a two-way deal.
