So, seriously, I think we should retire Gorges number when he retires. He refused TO to go to the worst team in hockey. That's effin brilliant.

Gilbert?? How is his defensive game? 'cause I don't like all those minuses in his stat column.

don't forget that he was playing with the Oilers!!! Not easy to have a positive +/- with the oilers!!!

Yeah, but he was a minus with Minny too.

I don't know much about Gilbert and I know a lot about Gorges. It boils down to whether we just weakened ourselves defensively. Otherwise put: would you trade Gorges for Gilbert, a 2nd-rounder, and about $1 mil in cap savings?

(When you put it that way...probably! Nonetheless, it's not clear that this makes us a better team right now).

Looks like we'll have to be patient and see if there's something else coming today!!!

I have never felt so much affection and respect for Josh Gorges as at the moment of his departure. Refusing to play for TO is enough to earn him my eternal respect as one of the true blood-and-guts Montreal Canadiens of his era. All the best to a good man and a fine player.

I don't see Gorges on the Sabres past next year's trade deadline.
