I'm watching the Brian Burke press conference.. Excuses, excuses, excuses.

I wanna puke.

I hope they don't win the lottery.

The guy was so contradicting in this press conference. He is only interested in building a championship team not simply making the playoffs, but yet didn't trade MacArthur for a 1st round pick. Reimer is the "real deal" but yet tried to make a trade for a goaltender. He would put Phaneuf's leadership up there with anyone. His top 6 defensemen he would put against anyone but yet when questioned why they were near bottom in goals against, it isn't the defense's fault. He agreed that he and Wilson had different on ice philosophies but yet he "did a great job" with what he had. And that Carlyle basically needs new players to play his way. When Burke first came in I thought he did a decent job, but looking over his body of work and where they still are, it's absolutely terrible.

Burke was back peddling the whole press conference. His defensemen are terrible, plain and simple. He blames his forwards and goalie for their goals against average. But Reimer is the "real deal" and The Monster saved them when Reimer went down. Come on.

I really just don't want the Leafs to win.

Is anyone else a bit nervous that the Habs will pick 1st?

Why would that make you nervous? You not a fan of Yakupov?

I love Yakupov's comparison to Pavel Bure. But when will be able to draft a legitimate big centreman?

I don't see us in the draft lottery next season. No need to be nervous though.. Yakupov is legit.

I have a feeling we will drop down to 4th. It's been that kind of season.

Tis fine, 4th pick would be a super pick as well and that is worst case scenario.

This is where CC made a very good point earlier in the year.

Look at our possible top 6 centers. Pleks, DD, Eller. (i'm assuming Gomer is gone). They are young, under 30.

Our possible top 6 wingers Wingers. Gionta, Cole, Bourque... those three are all older then Pleks, and then there is Max Pac. Even depth guys like Darche or Moen are older then our oldest center.

Maybe, while a big center would be nice, drafting a winger would be the best move to prevent a future problem of having aging wingers.

It's great point you guys made. But can Yak play on the left side? Cause we definitely need a left winger to play with Pleks. The Rene Bourque experiment failed miserably.

He plays right, but passing up on him because of what side he plays isn't reasonable.

The guy who will play left wing on Pleks line next year will be Parise hehe ;)

Not to mention all our best prospect forwards are right wingers. Kristo, Gallagher, Avtsin, Holland, Palushaj

GAH! Get Avtsin's name outta there... he has sadly been god awful and is a healthy scratch whenever possible on a terrible AHL team!

Haven't seen how Avtsin has progressed this season, that's sad to hear.

And I would loooove Parise on the left side.

Let's just say I would draft Yakupov 1st overall no matter what side he plays on. He is the best player in this year's draft. Not a terrible problem to have.

I originally thought Grigorenko was the guy Habs would choose but I have this sneaky suspicion that if they don't win the lottery they are going to be selecting Alex Galchenuyk

Honestly, if we pick 1st or 3rd, we WILL get a legit prospect, this year's draft class is decent. What we NEED is a center and there's 2 really talented prospects at that position: Grigorenko andGalchenyuk Let's say we pick 1st OA, i'm pretty sure the habs will go for Yakypov since he's being presented as a franchise player, he could change this team and will make the NHL jump next season. But, if they decide to grab Grigorenko at 1st OA, then that's also good, and it would be a great move to pass the BPA to fill a need. But they have had a reputation of going for the BPA and if Yak is the BPA then good. If we were to draft 3rd OA, it's trickier to get Grigorenko, the best center available. There is no doubt in my mind the Jackets will wanna get Yakupov, who is the BPA and could replace Nash after his eventual trade. By trading Nash, they will probably try and get a young prospect or rookie/sophomore center to play with Nail in return. There is a chance they will pick Grigorenko, but I don't see it happening. The Oilers at 2nd are what scares me. They will probably go for a center to replace Gagner, that way they will have Eberle and Grigorenko at center, I'm hoping they will go for Ryan Murray at D. However, even if they draft Grigorenko, Galchenyuk is a great center that would fit the Habs and will be with the team in 2013-2014 if not next year. Galchenyuk is Yakupov's center with Sarnia and he's part of the reason why Nail performs so well. If, however, we fall at 4th, then we will probably have to draft Filip Forsberg OR make a trade to move up or even trade the pick for an amazing already established young center. This is going to be very interesting...

Me have the feeling Jacob Trouba is very high on Timmins' list

but we have Tinordi, Beaulieu as top D prospects, we need prospects at center, we need a top franchise center!!! please don't draft a D unless all the good centers are gone...
