I've watched a few red wings games this year. They move the Puck really well in the offensive zone. Montreal might have some trouble

Fox Sports Detroit.

Thanks...

Interesting how few names I really recognize on that roster. Clearly the old "quasi-dynasty" days are done for this most distinguished of modern hockey clubs, although they're still a quality team of course.

I always liked how they play - very "Montreal Canadiens." But I also sort of resent Detroit a little bit for being so outrageously lucky in having ridiculously late-round picks - Datsyuk and Zetterberg - become franchise players. We had 10 years of oooooh-ing and aaahhh-ing over what a perfect organization they are; yet if it hadn't been for what were basically two massive flukes, no one would ever have said anything of the sort. Oh well.

We had a fluke at the same time as Datsyuk named Andrei Markov.

Well Weise being back in will make many happy.

And wont hurt Sekac any to rest a game or two and have some hot dogs with Nate the Great.

(who knows how le Genius makes his roster decisions, sort of like a victorious strategy of Sun Tzu one might say.)

but at least Rene is not longer leading +/-, he is now tied for 611th, he is ready to break out and rip it up!

10 worst +/- players and the teams they play for:

10. David Moss (Arizona, 23rd)

09. Jamie McGinn (Colorado, 26th)

08. Lars Eller (Montreal, 2nd)

07. Luke Schenn (Philadelphia, 24th)

06. Alex Wennberg (Columbus, 15th)

05. Leon Draisatil (Edmonton, 27th)

04. Teddy Purcell (Edmonton, 27th)

03. Rene Bourque (Montreal, 2nd)

02. David Perron (Edmonton, 27th)

01. Andrej Meszaros (Buffalo, 30th)

Looks weird when you look at it that way.

Bournival/Sekac - Eller - Weise/Sekac

Prust - Malhotra - Moen/Bournival

Looks like a huge improvement to me if you ask me.

No Bourque? Better team.

Bourque in one of his slumps plays like moen at the top of his game

Bourque in one of his slumps plays like moen at the top of his game

Bourque is a -7. Moen is even. They play a minute difference, Moen three less games.

Here's a scary stat for you. Bourque has played 134 games with the Canadiens, plenty amounts of it on the top six. He has 21 goals for it.

Moen is a bottom six player who would sometimes infuriate Habs fans by getting to play in the top six to replace an injured player during the Jacques Martin days. In 161 games (11-12 to 14-15), he has 13 goals. Only 8 goals less than Bourque. Bourque's best goal scoring total on the Habs was 9 in a season. Moen? 9!

Moen is on another echelon as a defensive player compared to Bourque and scoring only 8 less goals in 27 games when one is a known "power forward" and the other is a known "grinder" is pretty awful. Seriously awful.

Brandon Prust, Mr. "Bottom Six" himself has 28 points in 96 games as a Hab. Bourque in the same amount of time has 30 points in the same amount of games. Prust is just two points shy of Bourque's totals in the same amount of time.

Rene Bourque hasn't slumped while on the Habs. He merely overachieved in Calgary and did it again in the last post-season. He's Steve Bernier with job security.

You don't waste a chance to take a shot at Plekanec, do you?

His point was that it's weird that the Habs, who sit second in the league, have two players in the bottom 10 in +/-, especially when you consider that the rest of the bottom 10 are from teams much lower in the standings. The two players specifically mentioned were Bourque and Eller.

The post had nothing to do with Plekanec but you had to get a shot in anyways. We get it, you're not his biggest fan. Not every post has to remind everyone of that, especially when you're responding to a post that in no way, shape, or form, mentions Plekanec.

Pleks is awesome. I'd only trade him if the deal was very sweet.

Bourque is garbage. Eller's never done anything to show he's not just another Bourque, but he's young enough we can give him a bit of time, yet.

Not much time, mind you. It's this season or I'm done with him. Between Bourque and Eller we're paying 6.8 million a year. If you combined Bourque and Eller's offensive production together, it wouldn't be enough to warrant either of their salaries, individually.

haha. bravo brian! lots of negative nellies here..you'd think we were 0-6

I think the Habs have not been on their game in the wins and there's a lot of room for improvement but I'm also happy with the results and I'd much prefer winning games we shouldn't over losing games we should have won. I'll take an "underdog" Habs team over constantly losing games you should win like the Sharks and Capitals.
