Trizzak
Bryan Allen is in his final year of his contract with 3.5 million dollar cap hit. Shoots left, age 34, 6'5".
JoeLassister
Bryan Allen is in his final year of his contract with 3.5 million dollar cap hit. HAHAHA had him with HWL Islanders
Meller93
Well, this takes Bourque's contract off for next year, and with Allen's 3.5 versus Bourque's 3.3 there not much change for this year. But if Allen takes Tinordi's spot as a big defensive defenseman, I won't be a happy fan.
Helmethead
Yay!!! (I think) Need more info...what are our resident experts' opinions??
Trizzak
So Tinordi and Beaulieu will play a full season in the NHL at around age 29?
JoeLassister
So Tinordi and Beaulieu will play a full season in the NHL at around age 29? Nop. There will be a better UFA with more NHL experience when they'll be 29.
mineral
Mike Weaver more hurt than we think? That's a lot of D we have now, and a lot of depth in the AHL that we are not considering...
Jeff Price (no relation)
Thinking beyond this year, this is an awesome trade. Getting rid of Bourque's salary for next year is GREAT. This year, I'm a bit confused. Allen is BIG, and not bad right now, which I suppose is good...but that gives us WAY too much defensive depth. Unless, as said, Weaver's hurt. Heck, I have to say I'm not all that familiar with Allen. Maybe he's a Weaver replacement even if Weaver is healthy.
habs rule
Boy MB sure does like defence man. He has got to be loading up for a trade. The lack of a sniper is killing us not the defence. (they are not perfect, they do have their problems)
Habinator33
Very happy to have bourque's contract off the books for next year. Was expecting this year to be about the young defensemen, boy did that change fast. Interested in seeing if something else is in the works. PMAC
Right now, I don't care.... I am just thrilled that Bourque is gone I will be pissed if he starts scoring for Anaheim, but not pissed enough to criticize this trade

Machine of Loving Grace
He will likely find himself in Hamilton. He already spent time in Norfolk.
DON
Always was a fan on big Allen, in a Murray sort of way.

PMAC
Bulldogs have just reassigned a defenseman to the ECHL coincidence? I think not.
KoRP
Awesome news.... Dlbalr said earlier, the best scenario is trading to get rid of Bourque's contract for next year, and Bergevin did just that....
dlbalr
He will likely find himself in Hamilton. He already spent time in Norfolk. For an injury-related conditioning assignment, not through the normal route (waivers, then assigned). He'll be with the big club.
Habs30/31
Dont know enough about Allen. Someone said he has already been in the minors. Big player at 6'5. MB likes the D......just not the young ones I guess.
Trizzak
HAHAHA had him with HWL Islanders 89 HT, DEF 84... would a 3rd rounder do it?
Toronthab
I thought he'd be Hamming it up unitl later in the season. Seems I'm not the only one who doesn't see me as Montreal GM material.

Chris
I don't know how much Allen has lefy in the tank but it will be Beaulieu going to Hamilton where he can get ice time. The D needs a big physical player back there
habs rule
Well Brian you proved me wrong again. I guess there was a trade for dork. I can't believe that MB pulled this off, as far as I am concerned he just clipped the ducks big time. He got very good value for Rene Dork Dork. Unbelievable,. He is GM of the year right now.
