just some thoughts re the last couple games. Still wish Ian Schultz could improve his skating. Man he tries hard and I can't believe he wasn't playing with some sort of injury the last couple months. Leblanc looked like he could use some power skating lessons too. He really looked gassed a few times trying to get back down to his own end. St. Denis looked like he was skating on one leg and appeared to have trouble getting back to the bench on a few occasions. He could have mailed it in but chose not to. Kudos!
-rookie of the year chosen by the broadcast team went to Leblanc but like some other fans said, it felt like we hardly knew him with him only playing 31 games (22 points). On the other hand, Nattinen did play 60+ games, had one less point than Leblanc and was the AHL Player of the Week earlier in the year. I dare say Louis played on higher lines and his average ice time per game was likely double what Natts received.
Zach "the entertainer" Fitzgerald kissed Mayer after the Sunday game and apologized to him for sliding into him and knocking the puck into the goal for GR's first goal. Zach, although limited in skills, is great p.r. for any team he plays for. He often has the kids laughing pre-game, slamming his stick or shoulder into the glass, and scaring the heck out of them
