For many on this board he comes from an era they never saw, but it's about time.
A product of the long lineage of NHL greats who came out of Kirkland Lake way back in the days of the original six, Duff was a gritty hockey player who had a knack for scoring clutch goals in big games. Not a supperstar by any stretch, he still had some great years in both Toronto and then later in Montreal. Duff won 6 cups and scored 25 plus goals in three straight seasons in the late fifties, and was part of 4 Montreal cup championships in the late sixties.

Legends of Hockey - Dick Duff

He was my favourite habs along with Beliveau - as a kid I had a cat that I named after him(Duffy.)
Yeah I know - how pathetic...... but I am a diehard old fan of the mighty CH, and I wear it with pride!
Met him in Kirkland Lake after he'd retired, when he came into the dressing room in a game we played there. At the time I was captain of a peewee allstar team and was in absolute awe of him. Especially so when after only shaking everybody elses hand, he sat down beside me and had a nice long chat about hard work & playing the game. I guess he saw the 'C' on my sweater so figured he'd talk to the captain? Although I'd be willing to bet my dad had recognized him and pointed out the fact that one of his greatest fans was in that dressing room..... If so Duff was all class as he never mentioned anything about my being a fan - he just talked about hard work and having fun too.

I'm absolutely loving it - good for you Dickie Duff.
