Having won six of eight, the Habs, with rumors swirling that Bob Gainey may not be done moving, take on an injury plagued Los Angeles club. It could be said, though, that the Habs are going through some tough times on the injury front themselves, what with Jan Bulis, Nik Sundstrom, Sheldon Souray, and Alexei Kovalev all preparing to watch this one from the sidelines. Joe Juneau, suffering from the flu, could sit this one out, too. One player who looks ready to step up is the Habs latest acquisition in Jim Dowd. Having already impressed many, Dowd looks to build on his shorthanded goal from last night.

Dowd's Profile, About the Dowd Deal

Who Gets the call in net? Claude Julien stated earlier that Garon would get some time on the weekend, and let's hope that really is the case, because Theo could use a rest right now.

I'm sure Kovy will be back either Monday or Thursday, no doubts about it. Its actually funny how big of a panic habs fans were in last night (I know I was)
habsfan88
habs will win.....and its going to be a close one......thats my prediction, of course!

With Buffalo handling Toronto tonight we want to grab a win and keep the distance cause it ain't over til the fat lady sings.

I think we can manage a win tonight but those Kings are tricky. They're looking like a bird without wings, (with all their key injuries) but the bird's still flying!

Hopefully a good game by Garon and may Kovalev be back soon!

I sure hope he gets back.......I'm still so mad that he got injured and he's not playing tonight. Finally a habs fan in toronto can sit down on the weekend and watch a game, to see the newly acquired alexei kovalev not playing. It's really upsetting. but oh well, habs WILL win!!!!
Natural Mystic
30 minutes!!!! i've been waiting for this game ALL DAY!

My prediction: 5-3

... for Habs:/)1gohabs.gif
Prime Minister Koivu
Even though Buffalo is fighting for a spot in the playoffs, it was worth their win to see the laffs get spanked the way they did. 1monkey.gif

0-0 After one... Kings outplayed the habs in the first, they're aggresive forechecking worked well on the habs, causing us to make many turnovers...

Shots: 12-5 Kings after one.
Prime Minister Koivu
Garon looks pretty good so far. 1habslogo.gif

We seem to have such trouble with aggressive forechecking. We keep turning the puck over. Hope we can adress that before the playoffs start.

saku fight?

somebody tell me what happened!
Habinator33
Nice 2 fairly quick goals one by Begin and one from Perreault WOOOO. And look who had assists Dowd got one and Komisarek got one NICE.

2-0 Habs... Begin and Perreault goals. We're up 2 after playing like garbage the whole game, cool... Saku is playing very feisty toinght, got in a shoving stick-swinging match with Stumple, then layed out a King with a huge hit.
Habinator33
Holy shit Garon is standing on his head tonight. Come on Komisarek deck avery. Someone ######ing deck this prick.
Toren
This BS on hitting Garon has to stop. This is getting to be a scrappy game, and someone needs to stop Garon from getting run into and costing us a goal or a backup.
puck7x
Someone needs to take-out Avery... Maybe Bouillon can fight him, he's about the same size as him...
Habinator33
OMG SAVE OF THE YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!
sakiqc
amazing game by Garon !

lol that avery guy is hilarious. someone better knock him down early in the 3rd

nice game for koivu as well:clap:
Prime Minister Koivu
Komi is playing great too. Good board work and he is throwing the body. Begin works his ass off as well good pickup by BG.
puck7x
Habs win 4-2.... Zednik with 2...

Take the 2 points and run!!!
Habinator33
Habs Win Habs Win.

Thank you Garon What a game. I can't remember the last time i've seen so many highlight saves in a single game. He was just playing out of his mind.

Zednik big game as well starting to really get hot and just in time his favorite time of course playoff time.
puck7x
Habs are 10 games over 500 tonight...

Man, we played really badly tonight, one of our worst performances of the year and yet we managed to come up with a win... I'm not sure if we're fatigued from the travel, or we're getting lazy... but whatever it is, it must stop right now! You know we played bad when Komisarek was one of our top D (I love Mike, but he's usually not one of our best-6) and Langdon is one of your top forwards...
Westcoasthabsfan
80 points now in 70 games... very very nice... Tonights game was a robbery by Garon and the posts.. The Habs had no business winning but maybe the tide is turning as in years past this team wouldve folded like a cheap house of cards....

Yeah we sounded lame according to Dino and Murray and the shots on net, whew!

Hopefully Kovalev isn't forming the wrong idea about the team from the (fairly crappily played) two wins he's watched!

Take the two, smile, and get out of LA.
bombTHEice
Wow what a save that was from Garon on Armstrong, absolutely awesome. ohmy.gif 1clap.gif

Lucky win but it doesn't matter. In the end they got 2 points and that's all what counts. :/)
Leafs Suck
If I heard Cole/Neale insult the Habs once, I heard it ten thousand times. What a pair of grumpy old men. They praise Avery and he was the dirtiest little sh!t on the ice. Our tax dollars were sure at work last night.
habitual_hab
The Kings - especially that Avery line - played with urgency last night. The Habs played like they're guaranteed a playoff spot and could afford to go through the motions. The Habs are tired? Geezuz, give up your playoff spot if you're tired in March 'cause April and May'll be a bugger.

On another note, the refs have to call obstruction & interference - the officiating was a joke. LA was blatantly picking and interferring on faceoffs all night and not one penalty was called.

Nice to know that if Theodore sucks on any given night there's a Luongo clone ready to back him up.

A very poorly played game by the Habs last night, but ill take it.

This might be the win we really deserved the least in the season, and we'd better bring more to the table the rest of the way.
habsfan88
Whoa.....habs were quite fiesty this game. Komisarek played a good physical game, and koivu had a REALLY nice hit. Good to see a smaller player make hits like that.

Overall a poorly played game by habs, not alot of shots on goal and let too many on our goal, even though they were all saved except 2.
habsfan88
But hey, garon stood on his head, made great saves and basically gave us those 2 points, and we'll take them....but we need to be prepared for next game.
Abby
Yeah, terrible game, good win to take. I can forgive them for sucking because they must be exhausted, but once they're home and rested up a little there won't be any excuse for playing that poorly. That said, Garon was beyond amazing. It's such a relief to have a guy like that as the back-up ...

I really wish someone had beat the crap out of Avery. I also really wish he hadn't turtled on Bertuzzi a month or two ago, because that probably would've been one of my favorite and most-deserved ass-kickings of all time. It's one thing to be a huge pest, but it's something else altogether to be a huge wimpy pest who consistently backs out of fights/takes cheap shots/picks on an easy target. Bah.
