Does anyone else have issues getting to the site the last month or so? Almost every time I try to access the forum, I get a message saying "forums.habsworld.net took too long to respond", then it just spins for 15-30 seconds before the page will load. And then once I finally get in, every page takes that long to load.

In recent weeks, there has been an uptick in posters that have decided to simply down vote posts based on who the poster is, not the content of the post. Others seem to down vote anything that doesn't exactly match their opinion which is not what the voting system is for. Instead, multiple threads devolved into discussions about the system itself, often accompanied by a rapid series of down votes. At this point, that function seems to be doing more harm than good. Accordingly, I've decided to disable that button for the time being. I'm open to considering re-enabling it down the road but I'm hopeful that this will improve things on here.

I have noticed that people don't use the vote and downvote the way they should be used. I just think it would be better if we didn't have them.

You can make a good point or argument in a post and your post won't get a vote, but as soon as you say something bad toward team management you will get so many downvote's even though your making a very good point or argument in the post on the topic.

Just seems like you can't say anything bad or that's wrong with the team in these forums. I thought that's the point of these forums is to have a place for fans to voice their opinions good or bad.

So i am just asking do we need the vote system ??

I've cast longing looks to Montreal for quite some time now, and I plan to holiday over there in the next few months - all being well.

I just wanted to introduce myself and get to know a few board members. I'm a primary school teacher (hence the name) and I have been extolling the virtues of the Habs to my colleagues for some time...much to their ignorance, really!

Hey all,

Our current website has now lived for more than a decade (!), which is a feat if you look at most websites around the web. Most look outdated very fast and lose their functionality. We have been fortunate to have a great and beautiful website all those years. We are now looking at changing the content management system and also the visual design. It will be a good timing to add new features or remove less useful components.

If you have any suggestion to improve the website to make it more useful and fun to you, please share those ideas in this thread or by email! The goal is to have a webpage offering a 1-stop source for all the needs of a Habs fans.

This is indeed a "first world problem", but I am getting tired of wasting time reading articles that are linked from the site's main page. They are consistently poorly written (grammar, spelling, phrasing) as well as often offer no real insight or valuable information at all. They use an interesting title to get attention and then rarely answer the question posed in the title and often just regurgitate the same sound bites and opinions as mainstream media (TSN, Sportsnet, etc). They are taking advantage of the loyalty, curiosity, and dedication of the numerous Habs fans around the globe.

With that said, I know the site itself does not publish these articles for the most part and is just providing links to potentially useful information for the public. This service is what originally brought me to habsworld.net as I liked the centralized access to information and it was easier to load and navigate than my previous preference hockey inside out. Now that I have been frequenting this site for a couple years I have found myself getting frustrated by the aforementioned problem with the quality of the links provided. Is there no way that the administrators can screen articles that are linked from the main page of the site to ensure a minimum level of quality control? The habsworld.net articles are consistently of good quality and provide content with substance, so the administrators and editors obviously are capable of spotting/providing good content. I know, I know, I am whining but I feel this is one of those cases of quantity not trumping quality.

Thanks for your patience of you made it through my ramble. Keep calm and Carey on, Go Habs Go!

Hey...came upon this site while googling for Habs fan website. I am not a Habs fan per say, but lived in a household with 2 loyal habs fan.

Here is my reason for being on here. I have a Montreal Canadiens cap autographed by team members, 2011-12 Edition. I received this cap to help with raising funds on a raffle for a humanitarian mission to Bangladesh that I will be doing with a team in November. Our raffle was well under way when I received it in the mail with the letter attached from the Montreal Canadiens Organization.

So, we are looking for a way to raise funds by maybe doing an auction with it.

If I'm not in the right place, please redirect me in the right place. If I can use this site to auction it off, let me know and we'll start the bidding.
