  4. Just me screaming into a void again that playing the same lineup on the second day of a back-to-back is dumb, and not leaving yourself the roster flexibility to do it is even dumber.

  7. I'm frustrated right now, but I think that this summer might be the best time to trade Price while he still has some value. Go with Allen and Primeau next year! 2 goals on 10 shots!

  8. I don’t get how that makes him MB 2.0? He played a key role in Toronto. He’s the reason they chose Marner, over the consensus Hanafin. He has been a GM and part of owner for a highly successful junior team. what’s your solution not higher anyone ever because they may not do better than building the mediocre tram that MB has. Or continue waiting for a GM with a long track record that can speaks French? is Briabois the only one - though he doesn’t have a long track record? we need a change NOW. You don’t keep someone as GM because you don’t know who the perfect candidate is, you start looking for someone else because the guy you haven’t hasn’t gotten the job done. who are the GM’s who have been in place longer than MB - Poile - been to the finals and had some powerhouse teams - big knock was never being able to develop an elite centre. Flip-side was that he was a master at developing elite dmen and didn’t have to throw stupid money at the Alzners of the world to fill holes in defence (did throw stupid money at Turris and Duschane. He also moved on from players in decline much faster than MB - Wilson - been to the finals and had had some consistent powerhouse clubs that didn’t win in the playoffs -Murray - had some very strong teams and until last few years where they went into rebuild mold, had consistently strong teams -Bowman - multiple cups in chicago. He was born in Montreal - maybe he speaks French and we can wait until he, or Briabois get fired so we make a change 🙄 -Armstrong - won a cup in St. Louis and had some very strong teams -Cheveldeyoff - took over a relocation team and had built a very strong team - in a location that is even harder to retain players and attract free agents than Montreal. that’s it for GM’s given a longer rope than MB. Only Bowman inherited a stronger team. The rest improved and rebuilt their teams and except Anaheim that is in a rebuild and San Jose all are better than Montreal. Anaheim has better prospects and Wilson is probably finally close to being done. But unlike MB, he has always filled major holes like trading for franchise type dmen (burns, Karlsson - who may end up being an early decline player), and certainly centre (Thornton larceny).

  9. I am OK with bringing him up for a spell, given that Laval is in suspended animation. Give him a taste, let him see what the big league is like, and - hopefully - ride a wave of rookie enthusiasm to a temporary outburst of offensive production. What I object to is the idea that bringing kids up with zero AHL time is a good development strategy. A few games in Montreal, sure. The idea that he is now a Montreal Canadien going forward? Non merci. But there seems to be little point in making this argument; most Habs fans appear to be committed to the definition of insanity, doing the same thing over and over and rushing our best prospects, then retroactively lamenting that we “ruined their development.”

  10. I don't know about that, but I am very confident that TODAY he is more useful when shooting the puck than Jonathan Drouin (as are a few of the guys in my local men's league, in all likelihood)...so to bring him up and have him play select minutes (especially on the powerplay!) cannot hurt.

  11. Ah no. It’s up to the GM to make sure he assembles the right players and coaches. Therrien was and is a horrible coach and will probably never be a head coach again. Lefebve was absolutely useless developing players, yet he had a job forever. MB did a good job adding scoring on the wing this summer - probably his best off-season, but he really didn’t address his biggest areas of needs. We really needed to add a top pairing dman - which was not addressed. Instead we continued to stockpile bottom pairing and 7th/8th depth dmen. Which would be a great strategy - if we had a solid top 4. You build the foundation of a house first. You don’t start looking for baseboards. you also can’t rely on two young players to be your top centres. You can HOPE they are ready, but it’s on the GM that your top two centres aren’t ready for the role and no, I’ve never considered Danault as a top line centre - the production has not been there. I really don’t care what his 5 on 5 production stats are. His points totals say he is not a top line centres. Top line centres provide PP production. Bergeron is a selke trophy winner who’s had 70 and 80 point seasons. we keep hearing how hard it is to trade for a top centre or top dman - yet other teams manage to do it. IF the GM’s obvious strategy was not HOPING two young centres were ready and HOPING that Romanov would be a top 4 dman in his first NHL season after basically pretty much sitting for over 6 months, AND he had actually gone out and got a top dman and a legit proven centre. Than I agree, it’s up to the coaching staff and players. MB has been in charge for almost 10 years. He’s hired his own NHL coaching staff all three coaches this team has had. He’s hired his own minor league staff. Yet we are like a pump and dump stock. Not really much real value, a lot of rhetoric about having the mountain man leader and blood and guts guys. But like a pump and dump stock, despite trying to make Roseanne Barr out to be Angelina Jolie. We are have just Roseanne Barrs. When we finally try to get a Jolie, it is the 45 year old Jolie, not the smoking hot 25 year old! So I disagree. The GM assembled the team. It’s his coaching staff. He signed, resigned and/or traded for every player on this team. It’s on him.

  12. We havent matched up well with the flames all year. Still this win and one more next week probably kills them off. Weve got a similar record but weve played much better against the leafs than the flames. Their d just seems to neutralize our attack by keeping it from the middle of the ice.

  14. A lot will depend on Price's availability. Until he's cleared to play, they need Primeau up. Until that happens, Caufield's AAV is too high to fit in under Montreal's LTIR ceiling.
