  1. For all the talk about Montreal sitting their younger players, note that Toronto sat more proven players on their back end to put in Rasmus Sandin who was blown by on the Anderson goal and the Byron one, becoming a major reason why they lost in the process. If you're going to talk about how the upside of playing the youngsters trumps everything else, at least keep in mind that the downside can be costly as well.

  2. I asked for a Habs win with my coffee at Tim Horton's and they gave ne a magic Weber hockey stick. Does that count as an omen or sign from above!!?

  3. This will be a tougher W than Game One, I’m pretty sure. The Leafs will make adjustments designed to stop the Habs from gathering speed through the neutral zone; and DD will need to have his own adjustments-to-the-adjustments ready. Plus the Leafs will have that added element of urgency. For the Habs, they do indeed require continued excellence from Price and the D needs to keep making those hard, smart plays around the slot to protect him. But you can only go so long with Gallagher and (sigh) Tatar being useless, Suzuki needs to have more impact, and KK will not have the luxury of milling around like a confused 12-year-old as was his wont for most of the second half. In short, you can’t have passengers in a series like this; there are some Habs who have room to improve, and we’ll need that improvement to counter what will likely be improvement from the Leafs.

  4. We also keep talking about 9 years without admitting that GMs van learn and develop and get better. Hes not the same GM he was as a rookie, just like players grow, he did too.

  5. He made very good passes. Smart plays in his own end and played big in front of campbell. I dont feel like I'm exaggerating. I was annoyed that he was playing over CC or kk, but last night he was very good.

  7. If you thought the last game was heart racketing this game will be worse. Toffoli will be huge tonight and he'll tie it up late in the 3rd, and Perry will get the assist in the first 5 mins of the 5th period on Staal's GWG. Go Habs Go!!

  8. I just want to point out how much the Suzuki spelling mistake is bothering me, but there's no turning back now. Go Habs

  9. I guess it sounded like you were ready to give up on him already. Calling someone "useless" does seem like a criticism, saying he wasn't a factor in game 1 is totally fair. We absolutely need Gallagher to be a factor to win the series, totally agree on that.

  10. Sadly, that is all too often the modern mentality ... dichotomies and no middles ... it isn't just sports ... politics, on all sides, is US (good) versus THEM (evil) ... in the US primaries system politicians lose their party's nomination for being too centrist/reasonable.

  13. I could rewatch it, but I don't think I will. Anderson, price, Staal and Byron were the best players last night I felt. Byron, not just because of the goal. He checked very well all night. My opinion I suppose.

  14. Not true. Staal was one if the best forwards for the Habs last night. He had a big game

  15. I think you can argue that Bergevin has had his best year as GM this year, solved the backup goaltending issue, added Anderson, Toffoli, Edmundson. He plugged a lot of holes but obviously still some work to do as I think they still need a top 4 defenceman. In the real world if you are a manager and your employee just had their best year in 9 years you don't fire them. I could understand if Bergevin had been fired earlier in his tenure.

  16. I am not as negative about KK as you are, he has talent but has lost confidence. He might surprise, it's not like Evans was tearing it up but of course Evans is very responsible defensively which is important this time of year.

  17. We need a centre with Evans out and Byron is a poor choice at this level. Play KK and if he looks like the guy from last year’s playoffs then sit Staal (he was great for one period), when Evans returns.

  18. Who do you subtract for KK? Evans? I must say, we did not miss Kotkaniemi at all. I am more interested in inserting Caufield, who could make a difference on the PP. You’d have to manage him carefully, though. The Habs are playing a tight, grinding style, and if he gets a bad matchup that could undermine our efforts to contain them in our zone.

  19. I was curious how leaf fans interpreted the game so I had a look at HF leaf board. If you are having a bad day, I suggest that you head on over and warm your heart on their collective rage and tears.
