Maybe their just getting ready for offer sheet's on their top RFA. I think this summer could be a crazy one.

With our cap space I just hope we don't over pay for Duchene. I feel like we can finally say we don't need a center as bad as we once did. I am happy with the group we have and really looking forward to our young group coming up. So I can't believe i am saying this but we don't need a center. Spend the money on making our D core better. Danault Domi Kotkaniemi Thompson Weal Poehling Suzuki I am really ok with this group. We had 96pts last year missed the playoffs by 1 point , in large part because We had no PP. We up group our D with better puck moving defensemen that can QB our PP and we make the playoffs.

Got to watch out with Duchene he seems like one of those guys who only have good years on contact year's. His going to want to much money and I think we are finally at a point with our centers that its not a desperate need to up grade. I am happy going into the season with the centers we have.

So are you saying PK is better just because Nashville went on more deeper runs then Montreal in the playoffs ?? if that's how you base a trade you're wrong in looking at it that way. Nashville's playoff run's are based on the fact their a much deeper team then Montreal. Case in point if the have key guys go down with injury, they have guys that step right in and they don't miss a beat. Montreal doesn't have a deep team, and if we get key guys go down with injury we're in trouble. Theirs a big difference there. But as far as PK for Weber player wise honestly I don't think he has made a big impact on that team because if he did they would of never traded him today. They felt the cap relief was more important then having PK. So that tells you all you need to know.

Maybe habs trade Alzner to a team and take back a bigger contract and a 1st round pick to help a team out

Canucks what about NJ. Their putting together a great team. They just need some goaltending.

If I am Bergevin I go to edmonton Tell them give me 2 1st round picks and I will take lucic off your hands.

These last 2 trades are a result of GM's not managing their cap properly. Nashville gave away PK for nothing because they didn't manage their cap better and Toronto had to give up a 1st along with Patrick to clear cap space. At times I don't like Things Bergevin does but I am glad he manages our cap properly and makes sure we can resign our top guys.

Wow PK on his way to Nj, also I think Toronto gave up way to much for cap space. Wow after seeing what Nashville got back for PK looks like we won that trade.

Well looks like we just drafted a nice winger for Suzuki.

In some mock draft's they have us picking puck moving LD defensemen Harley.

If the price is to high for Gost, wonder if Lindholm is able to be had?

Wonder what it would cost in getting either brown or Johnsson from Toronto? If we don't resign lehkonen or Armia then adding one of brown or johnsson would be a nice replacement.

I can see Gardiner getting some where between 6.5mil-8mil on July 1st. Seems like over payment for a Petry type clone on the Left side. I hope the team goes all in on Gostisbehere.

I tell you what Gardiner is going to be getting a big payday. With Karlsson gone that makes him top D come July 1st. I can see him getting some where in between 6.5-8mil.

Rangers just traded for trouba gave up 20th pick and Pionk. Makes me think we could get gostisbehere for our 15th pick and NHL ready prospect or one of our winger's.

I said it earlier that maybe his agent was using that as a way to get him more money. Guess I was right.

Maybe his agent just said that to get other teams to offer up more money.

Report today is SJ going to offer him 8/88.

I am not undervalue petry. I think gostisbehere is better then petry and a petry for gostisbehere trade isn't enough to get it done. Maybe you're overvaluing petry. I just think that if we do sign Karlsson then petry could be used as a trade piece to improve other areas.

I don't think its a huge over payment. We end up saving cap space in this trade. Instead of a 2nd round pick then just Shaw and petry. Replacing Petry for Karlsson is a upgrade and Shaw isn't a huge loss but you're saving in cap space. This lets you sign both Karlsson and Gardiner. And gives us the best D core we have had in years and up grades our pp in a big way. We could have 2 top units out for our pp. Something we have never had.

I would take Byron out add Petry and our 2nd round pick, I think that gets it done. They need Forward and RD help. Shaw and Petry gives them that. Shaw + Petry + 2nd round pick For Gostisbehere Then we go and sign Karlsson and Gardiner. Our D would then look like this next year Gostisbehere - Weber Gardiner - Karlsson Mete - Kulak I am ok with not adding a forward after trading Shaw and letting the rookies battle it out for that spot.

I use to stay home everyday from school and then work for trade deadline day. But over the last few years I stopped. It just hasn't been the same I think since they moved the date. There seems to be more movement now on July 1st then trade deadline. I know I for one look more forward to the draft and July 1st more so and less so for trade deadline day. So was just wondering how you guys feel.

Do you blow the cap space on Karlsson alone? You don't know what he is wanting. If he wants Doughty type money that's 11mil a season. I would trade Petry to free up cap space. So that way we can bring in Karlsson and someone else if we wanted to. If we can hopefully get Karlsson for around 9mil then I would be ok with keeping Petry. That Alzner contract is really back firing on us now isn't it.
