  1. Here's a question would you dangle Petry to other bubble teams in the top 10 of the draft to move into a top ten spot if we're not picking in the top ten? I am looking at New Jersey they could use a guy like Petry on their D and aren't rebuilding. So if they're picking lets say anywhere from 5-10 would they take a trade of Petry + Byron for a pick from 5-10 if they had one? That's if there was a guy in the draft there that we really wanted.
  2. Hey if you're talking about me my post It wasn't to you but more at Don. He always ask for you to name a name just so he can discredit your argument with stats. I know we have had disagreements on topics but it's just good convention to me.
  3. I agree you're giving up a big piece of what could be our future core group of guys to get one guy.
  4. I take it you also aren't a fan of the stat police on here. Thats why I stopped naming names of players we should try a trade for. There's people on here that always want you to name names just so they can discredit your comment with stats. If you don't put names then they can't argue your point because they can't put stats in their argument.
  5. You know their going to ask for romanov as a key part of any trade talk for dumba
  6. Always loved Dumba as a player, but isn't Minnesota in the same boat as us ? They're either resetting or rebuilding, but don't want to trade their core group of guys.
  7. Not if we're planning on being a playoff team next year. Trading Petry would hurt our playoff chances because it would weaken us even more on D if it was just for a 1st round pick. But if you trade him for lets say a younger NHL ready D and a 2nd round pick , Then I would looking into it.
  8. My whole argument with this is , i am always going to be willing to trade from my team strength to fill my team weaknesses. Danault isn't probably going to be traded neither is Suzuki or Kotkaniemi. So that leaves us with either Domi or Poehling, most team's asking would more then likely want Domi over Poehling. unless you're packaging Poehling with someone or draft picks then that might be a different story. But I for one don't see Bergevin trading Domi unless contract talks go south and Domi wants too much money.
  9. I agree you don't trade them just to trade them. You trade them to fill holes on the team. I am not going to over look a trade opportunity to trade from strength to fill a weakness. This was my whole argument from the get go.
  10. No because my point is if Bergevin is looking to trade for a top D and the team he's talking to needs and ask for Domi, don't you think he would agree to it since we're strong at center. Or is he going to say oh no forget it i am putting my centers at wing. Doesn't make sense. THAT's THE POINT, if there's a player he's trying to trade for and the only way to get him is to give up Domi he will do it. Oh and why don't you ask Edmonton how while your way of thinking works. They've been doing that the last what 8 years with the all their forwards.
  11. Wow what don't people get...... We have Danault, Domi, Kotkaniemi, Suzuki and poehling that are centers. If Bergevin is looking for a top LD and the team he's talking to needs a center to get the deal done , out of the 5 Domi would probably be the most likely to be trade. Thats what this discussion is about. My god whys that so hard to understand. Shit you bring up someone's name and all of a sudden the stat police come out.
  12. You're not listening, we didn't want to trade Pacioretty but had too. He was our best opinion to get back what we needed to fill holes. We find ourselves in a similar situation with our centers. Which is why I compared it to Pacioretty. Out of our centers if we were to trade one of them it would be between Domi and Poehling. Domi would be the one giving us the higher return then Poehling.
  13. No I Ment the situation, we traded Pacioretty because he would give us the higher return . Domi right now out of the centers we have other than Danault we give us the higher trade return. Suzuki, Kotkaniemi, poehling are still young. Can't capitalize on their trade value unless you package them with someone or picks. But domi alone could get you a higher return if you don't want to pay him.
  14. Domi is kind of like Pacioretty, we didn't want to trade him, but he was Bergevin best option to get a high return on. If Domi wants around 7mil a year I think Bergevin going to trade him rather than pay him. But if he's around 5.5mil a year he stays as a habs.
  15. Price , I am sure you get it. You're just trying to get a certain type of reaction.
  16. Good for him, never should of drafted him in the first round, but good on him.
  17. Didn't even think he was still playing in the NHL
  18. Don't go there with some of these guys, just don't go there .................
  19. It gets you an elite player that if you do it properly can build a championship team around. But one player doesn't win you championships, which a lot of gm's don't understand including ours.
  20. This is why I have been saying we should be trying to be a lottery pick team this year and not trying for a playoff spot. But once our players come back from injury, this team will end up picking 15th again instead of in the top 5.
  21. Wonder what a package of Byron and Petry could land us. Both guys would add depth to any playoff run
  22. I think Bergevin needs to make a decision on where to go next year first. If he thinks this is a playoff team, then i don't see him trading anyone that's under contract still. If he feels that we continue to stay young , then yeah you trade guys like Tatar, Petry and listen to what's out there for price and weber.
  23. Ok so you think we're not close to winning a cup, and you want young talent but yet you don't want to go through the pains of losing and becoming a lottery pick team to get that top talent you talk about. And your ok with being a bubble team, makes no sense to me.
