First off that trade was for Raycroft. Toronto was trying to win now and thought raycroft who just won rookie of the year was the better goaltender to go forward with. So its not like he just traded a goaltender because he had two. Think of that trade like the Subban/Weber trade. We traded the young player for an older player who Bergevin thought could help the team win more.

Oh I agree, I am not looking to trade those guys if I am planning on this team next year to challenge for a playoff spot next year. With Domi I guess you would have to ask....1) which center's are we going to keep moving forward. 2) which center is going to give you the highest return in a trade. Danault Domi Kotkaniemi Suzuki Poehling Out of those who's the guy you're willing to trade that would give you a great return to fill a need. The need a puck moving defensemen on the left or right side if we trade petry. So package a-- Domi+Byron Or package b-- poehling +Byron I don't think the other guys are going anywhere, so I think its going to be between domi and poehling. If domi is going to want too much money he could be the one traded.

If you Are going to trade guys like Domi, Tatar, Petry.... I wouldn't ask for 1st round picks this year , but I would ask for 1st round picks next year. You never know what is going to happen in a season, look at Ottawa for an example. They could get 2 top 10 picks because they got the sharks 1st pick this year. It doesn't always workout that way but you just never know with this game.

I think that's over payment. It looks like Detroit might get the first pick but with the draft lottery you just never know anyone of the bottom 3 team's could get it. With that being said you can't offer a trade unless you know what team it is and if we have what they need.

No they're not. We got a good team they just need some key players. What needs to happen is Bergevin needs to determine what we are and what path to continue on. Path 1) if he thinks this is a playoff team, then the reset should be over, and he should be adding talent to it to help win now and be a contender. Path 2) if he still wants to go young and not worried about the playoffs. Then say its a rebuild and trade guys like price, weber, Tatar, petry. Become a lottery pick team and go young. We can't stay the path of a bubble team.

No it won't. Type of team's that would want Petry and Tatar would be playoff teams. Which means their 1st round pick would be of lower vaule since you're looking at anywhere from 20-32. You're not going to find much vaule picking in those spot's. Vaule in picks come from 1-15, depends on how deep draft is, or if a player falls out of top 10.

You want higher younger talent.......... Become a lottery pick team for the next 3 years. Picking in the top 10 gets you better players then picking 15 and up, unless its a deep draft or a player falls out of top ten.

It would be interesting to see this team for the first time with 3 good scoring lines once everyone comes back healthy. Tatar / Danault / Kovalchuck Drouin / Domi / Gallagher Lehkonen / Kotkaniemi / Armia Also a 4th line of Cousins / Suzuki / Weal or Thompson Could be effective also I would look at trading Byron, and Thompson at the deadline, get draft picks for them.

Looks like Weber hasn't lost anything off his shot. But man when did the skills competition get so boring🤔. Don't know why they don't make the all star game an outdoor event.

Bergevin won't see it that way, just like he didn't see the lack of depth this year especially at D. He puts his eggs all in one basket and then doesn't have a plan b,c or d in case things go wrong. He will put all his eggs in Romanov next year. Next year's D will be Chiarbot / Weber Mete / Petry Romanov / Kulak/fleury I don't see him making any other upgrades on D.

LD next year will be Chiarot Mete Romanov Don't see him looking for a LD unless Romanov doesn't come over from Russia

I am just saying he hasn't traded his star players for the sake of getting younger. He has traded his star players to full other hole's on the team. So if he does trade a guy like Petry it will probably be to get back a player he feels can fill a hole on the team, not for draft picks.

It was just Suzuki for Pacioretty, Bergevin didn't want Tatar. VGK put him in the deal so they could Get rid of Tatars contract so they could sign Pacioretty long term. Subban we got back Weber, their was no draft picks involved. Petry is still under contract and won't be moved. He's going to try and make the playoffs (which we won't) so he isn't going to trade anyone. Maybe Byron if he comes back before the trade deadline and plays good.

Bergevin isn't blowing up the team, so Petry isn't going anywhere. Injuries will be the same excuse at the end of the year press conference. Don't expect Bergevin to do much at the deadline.
