  1. Habs passed open Theodore to select McCaron ... Anaheim took him with the next pick ... this many were frustrated with the "size" pick.
  2. Shea Theodore would certainly look good on the habs blueline.
  3. Someone posted a week or two ago that Harris played the right-side most of the time so it wouldn't be the normal "off-side" for him
  4. Did he sign a 21/22 contract or a 22/23 contract? If the latter, I don't think he takes up a current slot.
  5. JUST ... his 9:14 TOI 5-on-5 is 12th amongst Preds forwards with 30 games ... 13th amongst those with 25 games
  6. Good chance the Pierre Karl Péladeau will make a substantial offer ... along with Tilman Fertitta (Houston) and perhaps someone from Kansas City ... will anyone offer big bucks to stay in Ottawa?
  7. No ... but that doesn't mean they get to hit a defenceless player bent over reaching for the puck
  8. I was responding to the statement "the players, coaches and mgmt are going to try and win every game" ... wasn't suggesting they do anything, just that they shouldn't (IMO) be hoping to collect points.
  9. And what I mean is that while players and coaches will ALWAYS try to win, from management's perspective it would be shortsighted to be happy with any climbing in the standings ... and since this roster is still IMO a ways away from being a serious playoff team (i.e., not a 7/8/9/10 and pray team), as a fan I take the longer term view and want the team have the best shot at the best players possible (it isn't just the first round that is impacted) ... and, to also have the greatest trade value for the picks if an option presents itself.
  10. Beyond the time, a not inconsequential aspect, the issue I can see is that it is on a defenceless opponent.
  11. Thoughts and wishes are with his family and friends. From a purely hockey perspective, this could shake things up in the Atlantic ... if the Senators end up with a "good owner" it could make them formidable ... but it will be interesting to see who lines up to buy the team ... will the deep pocketed want to keep the team in Ottawa or might the team get (a) a "financially lesser" owner committed to keeping the team on Ottawa, or (b) a "Jeffrey Loria/Claude Brochu", running the team into the ground in order to move it ... and if it stays in the family, what will their priorities be.
  12. Unlike the Bob Mckenzie's of the world Boo-Boo has always struck me as a click-bait "woman-of-ill-repute" ... I think HoGo may look at some short-term veterans to mentor youngsters but nothing significant ... unless they manage to move several of Price, Gallagher, Petry, Drouin and Weber before free agency.
  13. True ... but that his slightly more than twice the odds of the second worst team ... and last guarantees at worst selecting third ... currently no worse than 5th
  14. But the "rest of field" odds get even better each slot they drop ... and ... the "worst case scenario" gets lower as well ... currently they could fall as far as 5th
  15. Interesting ... thanks ... I'll cheer for Tristen Luneau ... he is a fellow Trifluvian. 😊
  16. OR ... in deals for "Barron-ish" prospects ... meaning a year or two further down the development train that HoGo rate as good as what is available at a given pick ... I think that is what is meant by an accelerated rebuild, not necessarily signing veteran UFAs.
  17. Very true ... I think hab29RETIRED's point was that, until the draft order is established, the same would be true of a simple prospect ranking
  18. Slight tangent ... don't know about Barron but:
  19. What do you to you think the market will be for White once he is an UFA if bought out?
  20. 6'5", 214 lbs right-shot defenceman Noah Warren was the fastest in the 30M forward skate at the NHL Top Prospects Game testing ... he was also 5th fastest with the puck ... he is ranked #59 by TSN/Bob McKenzie and #45 by TSN/Craig Button ... right in the area (currently) of Edmonton's 2nd rounder if the Habs get it (i.e., Oilers don't advance to the Finals or, if they do, Duncan Keith is not in the top 4 in TOI in the first 3 rounds) ... just struck me as interesting that a defenceman with that size won.
  21. Barron can speak some French and undoubtedly will get better
  22. Thanks ... I had not seen it ... their transparency was impressive ... nothing startling, but more open than the last few Habs GMs had been ... I am certain it was a learning experience for Chantal ... I expect the next time they do this she will have pre-edited/translated and organized the questions rather than doing it on the fly.
