Marino is a podcast talking head ... left TSN690 to join BPM91.9Sports with Jean-Charles Lavoie ... didn't last long ... seems to have a few decent contacts but I-M-O his hockey knowledge trails far behind anyone on TSN690 and most of the frequent posters on this site ...

his massive and undeserved EGO demands that he try to place himself "in the picture" for these interviews ... so I would take any opinion he offers with so many grains of salt that your blood pressure will be a serious problem.

I disagree... hes had alot of people on his new podcast including big guns like Gorton Hughes and countless contributors... to dismiss his personal opinion outright completely would be wrong as well

The fact he and McCagg both saying Mailloux is most NhL ready at development camp should be considered.

Is there someone else who you would consider more NHL ready and actually seen them at camp?

  2. Wideman will be waived and down in Laval.

Moving Edmundson gives more minutes to Harris and Xhekaj  for the whole season and that carries weight on its own... Edmundson has been hurt for the better part of 2 seasons and the kids are to good to have to wait half a season for Edmundson to build up his value further

Well, he outscored Roman Josi in his draft year in the Swiss League. Had the most points for a draft eligible player in the Swiss League since Auston Matthews. Most points ever for a draft eligible Swiss League defender.  I'm not ready to write him off yet as just a defensive defenseman.

Vegas no top 50 scorers last year, Avs no top ten the year before, TBL, no top 30 scorer the year before. McDavid/Draisaitl top 5 scorers the last 5 years, where has that gotten them?

It's interesting the people have already anointed Michkov as "an elite scorer" without ever having played in the league. He very likely could be another Yakupov. Fail for Nail!

Not only have they anointed him... they've never even seen him play a game...

With that said. I wanted him

  4. Rarely does a trade of this manner get to the media like this... where the trade is reported more thena day before it happens... feeling this is a ploy to maximize montreals offer...

Stick to your guns Hughes... NO TO Dach or its a sideways deal... backwards actually

  5. There is zero chance  #5 is given up for PLD... zero!

And there is also zero rush in moving Gallagher today for cap relief. We aren't up against it.

More relief next year with Pitlick Hofmann and edmudson off the books at 9 million total...

    PLD for FLA 1st, Beck and Dvorak(cost 1st and 3rd) or 1st in 2024, 2nd 2023 and Dvorak.

That's it... or switch out Beck for Farell or any prospect NOT on the big team yet and not named Hutson, Mailloux, Engstrom Roy, Kidney or #5.... IMO

That basically means we'd be paying significant assets for a rental player, as there is no guarantee that he would sign an extension a year from now,

If habs in fact trade for PLD rights he will be signing for 8 years I'm and around Suzuki caufield dollars.  Don't be fooled by the 9 million rumours, that's all to put teams off of trading for him. He is forcing  his way to MTL personally...

I tend to agree but there are always some surprises.  If Bedard, Fantilli, Carlsson and Smith are the 1st four taken then they have a big decision to make.  I would love to see them trade up and get Carlsson but not sure what it would cost or if it's even possible.

Would it be a big decision though? The obvious choice would be Matvei Mitchkov at that point. I would not be passing him up at 5 personally.

I not certain that all those players together (ignoring any cap issues) get a legit RHD upgrade, especially one that fits the rebuild (i.e., 28 or younger with at least 3 years on their contract).

Of course not... who is saying that?

but a package sending one of the non highlighted players I would be ok with...

Obviously, you would need to give to receive.

I would be willing to move Barron and Harris as young D and Savard and Edmundson as VET Dmen in a deal. Everyone else I am not comfortable moving at the moment.

  9. I'd be willing to move the players not highlighted to upgrade the right side. The answer is not in the UFA market

    Matheson Barron

    Guhle  Savard

    Harris Kovacevic

    Edmundson Wideman

    Xhekaj Mailloux

    Engstrom

However, Im content to watch the prospects evolve and just play with a young d core again next season. I think Wideman gets waived before opening roster
