  1. not wanting to move markov is hardly being short sighted. you don't have to move your most influential defender (like i said, look at our record with and without markov) in order to stock pile talent to be a contender.! name me the last contender/champion who has done just that??? thats right zero teams!!!!! Sound trades for needs in the system, savvy free agent acquisitions and strong drafting is all you need. why would we be looking for a younger defence men when we have all these defensive prospects in the pipeline? beaulieau has like zero PP prowess right now and markov is probably a top 3 PP QB in the league at this very moment. putting the 2 lefties on the same PP unit is what id be doing starting this coming tuesday if i was Therrien. markov on the left and beau on the right! as i stated earlier, until tinordi, nathan, pateryn etc. are ready to be in the top 4 of a contending team markov is essential to our teams competitiveness. let the teams natural progression take its course. beaulieau has slowly been integrated into the top 6. now hopefully tinordi can stick as well which will bump out gorges not markov i believe. these kids will need a minimum couple full seasons in the NHL to realize there potential. you sign markov to 3/4 years with no clauses. you move gorges who is signed and also has value ala craig rivet. everyone is looking to win the lottery with markov.... i want to win the CUP..... today not tomorrow. we have carey price and PK subban! with alot of nice pieces around them. i really believe we are a couple smart moves away. with all this said, we are in desperate need of 1/2 more right handed defenders. after watching canada and price MB should be trying to build the best top 6 defence possible to play in front of this guy
  2. if the habs are shopping markov which i hope there not at the deadline. we can surely expect a very significant prospect and a couple substantial picks. markov's value?? just look at the habs win/loss record with him out of the line up during those injuries and there record since returning. not to mention there team PP rank
  3. your GM 'ing is similar to milbury or rejan houle right now... ya lets trade the most valuable asset/player in the deal (subban) dejardins throw in a young stud (galchenyuk) Leclair who just bagged what was it 2 game winners in the SC finals alone for recchi (tavares). thats whats comparable to your no thanks... been there done that!!!!! can we not get a deal done that moves us forward and not sideways or backwards...
  4. why not go after tavares while he's out with a knee and his stock is at its lowest probably ever? bourque eller collberg , thrower and 2 first rounders. tavares would jump at the chance to play for the habs id hope
  5. no thanks. if were bringing a defender back from vancouver id prefer the grit/toughness bieksa brings regardless of his current injury woes or 32 yrs of age. not to mention he's a righty. we currently have 1 on the roster
  6. although everyone is looking for a blockbuster deal, i believe the habs next move will be (should be) getting another right handed defender in the line up. the defence is so one sided.....
  7. we were in the middle of a slump when the playoffs started.... price was performing badly compared to the early part of the year. we just lost emelin and had to call up a kid to replace him for the final stretch and first round (tinordi is still in hamilton by the way), all of gionta (bicep), patch(shoulder) prust(ribs) were banged up. to say we wouldn't of made it is complete speculation. we still outplayed the sens i believe over the full 15 periods played in that series. i remember in game#1 price giving up a lead and us going down inside the first 5 minutes of the 3rd after smashing them for 2 periods. we pounded them in game 2!! game 3 we got sucked into the broad street game and lost like we always do! game #4 we give up a goal with 2 seconds left in the game to force overtime that was kicked in! to me the bounces weren't going our way just yet and it happened to be the playoffs. coupled with the fact that anderson completely stone walled us and price just couldn't find his game. maybe he had is wedding/ honeymoon on his mind and needed his season to end early! i don't know cause he's a completely different player this season. difference in round 1 last season was goaltending between mtl and sens. and nothing else
  8. can we all just agree that Bob Gainey was (and still is quite the gentlemen) and he was merely paying Glen Sather back for letting us take kovalev from him then for absolutely nothing but future back scratching.... kovalev was great for us and we owed NYR. montreal Kovalev gomez pyatt busto NYR McDonaugh Higgins Valatenko janik balej graham and doesn't look as bad anymore
  9. i think its because our point is run with both points playing there off side. to get that one timer back ala cammalerri we need to either put PK on his right side to feed briere across with the right handed one timer or markov as i suggested needs to go back to quarterbacking from the left. he needs a left handed shot on the other point for the one timer (reminiscent of souray) and another left on thee right boards patches for the one timer down low. PP1 subban left boards patches right boards DD down low markov and beaulieau point men PP2 briere left boards plex right boards galchenyuk down low markov beaulieau
  10. markov needs to stay on for 3 years. he is a perfect second pairing defender and #1 PP quarterback. id like to see him play the left point on the PP and have beaulieu set up on the right for the left handed one timer that markov made a living on for so long. maybe move subban on the left boards so you can feed him for his one timer or he can cut in with a dangle
  11. Am i the only one who thinks Diaz stinks?? sure he blocks shots.... but he bloody well has to or he has no place in the nhl. he is as soft as charmin toilet paper. he can't clear a crease, he almost always fails to come out of the corners with the puck when he's first in, he can't throw the body, he is the carbon copy of what a soft euro player was stereotyped as. he's a soft, soft defensive defensemen. clearly not the kind of defender we covet or any other nhl team with stanley cup aspirations.... especially when we have another softy in gorges. (at least gorges tries to act tough) were lucky we got wiese for him. and no a 3rd or 4th round pick would not be better.
  12. i think MB NEEDS to have a package deal in place for someone substantial. if we go back to Winnipeg for example kane for eller bourque collberg ellis and 2nd rd pick or something of that nature. habs look patch DD kane (this line looks very dangerous) galchenyuk briere gallagher (briere centering these 2 for the next 2 seasons??) bournival plex gionta (a 3rd line that already goes against the opposition and brings tonnes of secondary scoring) prust white weise/ moen (a real 4th line that can play 10/11 minutes a night) a balanced lineup with room to grow..... patch entering his prime with DD as his robin! galchenyuk, kane, gallagher, bournival still scratching the surface of there careers while insulated with vets. These are the types of deals that are going to make us better. trading eller isn't the question. who is coming back in return is! if your getting a kane back who is younger bigger faster stronger and has more offence...... of course you do it. but we will have to give up something to get a coveted player of this nature and at this point eller is the youth we should be cutting ties with not patches or the galleys or the D. next would be sending gorges on his way for a right handed defender subban R markov emelin tinordi beaulieau pateryn R murray gorges boullion Drewiske as it stands we have only subban as a right handed shot on def. this is a serious issue on the back end and is not good for team balance. for example emelin 1 year post op with a right knee reconstruct playing on the right side means he has to force guys to the outside opening up to his right knee. we need a righty ASAP
  13. Agreed, and even if you can't sign him you still don't trade him for kane. he is only an RFA so he will be signed any way.
  14. you would trade PK subban for evander kane straight up?? thats crazy talk period. if we are trading PK subban we need to be getting the malkin's/ovechins/stamkos/tavares of the world not evander kane who with all do respect (you project would of scored 30 goals last year given an 82 game schedule). just as info subban had 5 less goals then him but 5 points more LY. 1st kane 22yrs correct pk subban is not old BTW 2nd shooting percentage of 7% (hardly something to write home about) 3rd last season he was on pace for 29 goals over 82 not 30 and this season he is on pace for 27. with that said one multi goal game and those projections change drastically! thats why I'm not a fan of projecting goals. look at max or ryder or DD as examples of projections being made prior to hot streaks or goals /points coming in bunches or slumps 4th as i said in #3 he has one 30 goal season one 17 goal season*( lockout) and is on pace for 27 this year. all I'm saying is PK out scored him last year and will most likely put up more points then him this year, all the while playing D. we are 100 times better with PK in our line hip then with evander kane in it. PK subban for evander kane straight up is crazy talk
  15. thats crazy talk!! PK is one of the top 5 defensemen in the league. evander kane is not one of the top 5 wingers in the league. plex is better then evander kane all day long i meant id go with patches as captain and if not him markov for the years he has left before retirement and by then PK would be the man with the C
  16. MTL: Steve Ott (UFA) Buff: briere Charles Hudon and 4th rd pick Mtl: taylor Hall and perron Edmonton: josh Gorges, rene bourque sebastian Collberg, nathan beaulieau and a 1st rd pick 2014 1st round pick 2015 **would this be enough? Hall plex gionta galchenyuk eller gallagher patches DD perron prust Ott moen emelin (L) subban ® marky (L) pateryn ® murray(L) diaz ® tinordi(L) boullion (L) man we would be a helluva hockey team
  17. agree with gorges NOT being captain. he just isn't good enough. i think patches is the guy to captain this team moving forward. very vocal in the locker room. great in front of the cameras and he's one of our core best players. after him id choose markov short term for a few years while subban continues to grow into being the first Black superstar captain in NHL history!!
  18. man... the key to winning trades is getting the best player back. plex would be the best player back in all these trades. we would be the loser in all of them. moving an expiring contract + picks and marginal prospects for a significant player under contract? thats ideally what MB should be looking at. we trade 3+ assets for 1. those are always the trades that are won. id personally like to see a sign and trade for Ott to centre moen and prust. that would give us one helluva 4th line. maybe best in the league and a line that would make you drool in the playoffs.
  19. id love Ott centring prust and moen. that 'd arguably be one of the best fourth lines in all of hockey.
  20. i did mean WJC goalies overall and not just Canada. with that said there is only 60+ goalie jobs in the NHL and id bet 90%of them played in world juniors. but world juniors has new goalies every year or so 2009 pickard/ tokarski(hab) 08 jodion 07 price 07 super series bernier/ mason 06 pogge/ dubnyk 05 beauchimen* 04fleury/ harding 03fleury 02 leclaire 01 auld 2000 finley 99 luongo 98 luongo 97 biron 96 denis/ theo 95cloutier 94fernandez 93derouyville/ legace 92kidd 91potvin 90fiset 89fiset 88 hackett 87cujo 86 burke 85billington 84wreggett 83 vernon basically just looking at canada alone over 20 years and not even counting the kids from 2008-2013 who haven't even got a sniff of goal at the NHL level, pretty much every goalie has played in the NHL for a significant amount of time outside of beauchimen, pogge(dubynk), finley and derouyville(legace). obviously there not all elite goalies but dissecting it a little more you'll see every 3 years or so a strong goalie comes out of Canada.
  21. i think that the list of successful WJC goalies significantly outweighs the pogge's of the world.
  22. i think eller briere and bournival were skating together yesterday at practice and chuck was with plex and gio
  23. doe murray go scott again this time at the beginning of a shift instead of the end?
  24. schneider, chelios, desjardins........ id trade beaulieau if we are getting a proven upgrade at forward who is signed and not over aged (27 and under)
