  1. That's $2m off the cap. Without trading Pleky (and i think Beaulieu is already a goner), do they have any room for someone of impact?
  2. Not to jack this thread on trade talks, but damn i hope MB isn't sniffing around Buffalo for what Kane is worth to them.
  3. I haven't seen a sacrifice like that since Roy's last game at the Forum. Must be humiliating for Montoya. I agree, Price isn't going to save the game at this stage, so what's the point.
  4. I certainly picked a good game to miss. Holy Moses. I had to shake my head checking the score on tsn.ca. How in the eff has Therrien not pulled Montoya yet?
  5. Torrey for Forty! LOL man, 55% shooting rate. Not sure how much longer that opportunism is gonna keep going. I think with playing against Price, as mentioned by other posters and pundits alike, is getting into the heads of other teams - kind of like the Devils and Brodeur in his heyday. When you played Jersey back then, you knew you had to break your back to get through the trap and get goals on him. Opposing scores just seem to have zero confidence that they are going to beat Price - and it shows.
  6. In 3 years Markov, Plekanec, DD, and Emelin's contracts will be up. that's 21m right there that can be spread across Price's, MaxPac, and Gally's new contracts - and leave us plenty of spare room even if they all got double the money. As many have stated, there will be plenty of fresh blood coming in from the farm to plug in those roster holes at an affordable rate.
  7. Perron did have a decent finish to the year in Anaheim, in the regular season. When i think of him, i think concussions, granted it's been 5 years since the last one. I was reading some fancy stats on him somewhere (maybe EOTP) that showed he needed 1st line minutes to get 2/3 line points. His stand-out year in Edmonton is the anomaly. Would be a decent concession though if all the other options fail. Okoposo and Eriksson would be my bet, and i lean on the former just because Kyle i think is looking for huge dollars and probably a US destination.
  8. Hmm Vanek 2.0. He'll already be making good money from the buy-out. Maybe he'll sign on the cheap, for a shorter term contract. Could be this year's Semin.
  9. "Kirk, time to start taking some French lessons. You've got 8 months or less." - Me
  10. Markov and Pleks are the only players who were here 10 years ago and probably the only good ones from that era (who are still actually playing).
  11. I don't really see how the picks offer us much help, for the near term, anyways. We can all agree that most picks, even the highly touted ones, will be 3-5 year projects before they hit their prime - if they make it at all. This does nothing to help us out if we're expecting Pac, PK, and Price to be the instruments that bring us to the SCF and want to have a long window like the Kings and Hawks are enjoying at the moment. They'd all be in their 30s by then. Yes, we can remove some anchors, free the cap space, and then maybe win on free agency day or open a spot for an up-and-coming youngster from the farm. But if we had better players down there - they'd be up with the team already. Because we don't, they'd still need to get acclimated. I don't think the likes of Hudon, Ghetto, Carr (ok, maybe), McCarron or even Sherbak are improvements to anything we have right now, and would probably need a few years to break out in the big league. I sympathize with MB. Seriously, who predicted this happening? The trajectory we've been on since he arrived, coupled with the start we had - shit, we all figured the gel was turning to concrete and that the entire lineup was one big machine that was simply dominate. Are we under-achieving right now, for the last 20+ games, or did we over-achieve for the last 200+ games? I'm thinking the former, while too many believe the latter. Price or no Price, i think this team is way better than it's playing.
  12. Word on the street is that he's likely to get claimed. I'm assuming the Habs brass aren't too worried about that possibility. Thoughts?
  13. well then, i'll avoid that tripe in the future, eh.
  14. http://thehockeypress.sportsblog.com/posts/2989436/nhl-trade--david-perron-to-montreal-canadiens---gilbert-scuderi-update.html Something for the rumor mill! Perron to Montreal? Shopping Gilbert?

  16. I guess MB wasn't crazy about Prusty's lack of leg speed. Too bad, he was a great character guy and the best fighter out there. Kassian was going for a 20 goal season last year..maybe the 1st rounder still has SOME upside left there.
  17. Zack Kassian to Habs for Prust?! http://www.tsn.ca/canucks-deal-kassian-pick-to-habs-for-prust-1.323023
  18. Williams, St. Louis, Stewart, Stafford are all decent options for secondary RW scoring. I don't think Stewart has much of a chance, even being a local boy. Just not enough character and effort from him over the last few years. St. Louis could be interesting given his speed, leadership, and dedication to the game. I think Drew Stafford may be the target, though. He's big, young(er), and put up decent points after joining the Jets.
  19. Man, does Boston have much depth in D at this stage? This kid was supposed to be the heir to the throne of Chara.
  20. I dunno. I'm worried about this Boeser kid. His favorite band is One Direction. I don't care if you're born in '97, that's messed up.
  21. Well, that was a bit underwhelming.Tons of bottom 6 depth and not much else. I too thought there was something else in the works, but the TSN tracker hasn't moved in like 10 minutes now.
