  1. Tweets are saying Parenteau is actually playing tonight.
  2. I also heard something about Iggy. He's got a bit of term too, eh?
  3. I wonder who the prospect is. Do we consider Bournival a prospect?
  4. People have been grumbling that Koberstein is already a bust. Firstly, i think it's quite premature to state that for a 5th round pick a few months after the draft. Secondly, the trade news stated that in addition to his 1 goal, he's a +11 which puts him in the top 25 in the league. I don't understand how people are worrying about this kid when looking at his stat line - especially if he's to be in the Josiah Didier mold and be a defense-first player.
  5. Mike Weaver more hurt than we think? That's a lot of D we have now, and a lot of depth in the AHL that we are not considering...
  6. Looks like the same Kaberle, Schneider, MAB type move. Propping up the power play somehow. Moen needed to go, so it was a nice way to fix that problem. This is a short-term move that won't impact the kids over the long term.
  7. Oh, damn. Ok, i wasn't aware of that. http://www.faceoff.com/sports/Jack+Todd+Year+Number+with+hockey+analytics/10243811/story.html It was posted to faceoff.com as well, but if he's (or someone else) requested a moratorium on his articles, then i supposed that should be respected.
  8. http://www.montrealgazette.com/sports/Jack+Todd+Year+Number+with+hockey+analytics/10243811/story.html Jack Todd wrote a nicely balanced (for once) article on the state of the game and it's turn to statistics as a dominant measuring tool for player performance. I think it's worthy of main page links, but not sure if it was left off for on purpose. Please post, if only for it's subtle jab at Andrew Berkshire.
  9. Nygren didn't impress much. As some folks said already, maybe being paired with Finley didn't help - but he did not stand out at all. You'd think with a defensive D alongside him, he'd take a few more risks to go on offensive. Didn't notice if he even did that. I also don't think Hudon the big sleeper in this year's camp as a lot of people predicted. He was behind on a few plays and didn't really seem in sync a lot of the time. He showed off a few good moves, but otherwise reminded me of Gallagher near the end of his first camp when the teams were 95% NHLers - except this is the 1st exhibition game. Anti-chambre was going on about how no one is pushing management to make a tough call so far. I would disagree. To me, both Sekac and de la Rose both had excellent games and showed what size + wheels + smarts can do. Albeit Sekac may have a slightly better shot than DLR, but they both were running around and laying the body while tightly checking all night. Who else though Bowman was a little nonchalant last night? Barely a reaction to his last minute goal, and his little 1st star celebration was the most humble (or indifferent) as i've ever seen. I think 2/3 pucks thrown to the crowd were done with his skates off the ice. Overall, they mostly all looked nervous and rusty. Hopefully the game against Colorado will be a bit better although i'm sure it'll also have it's fair share of kids playing their first game as well.
  10. I was also thinking the same. Lil' Russian connection there. Here's hoping they develop a good chemistry in the years to come.
  11. I think the Pens actually took on salary with that one. As far as i'm concerned, you don't get a 6'2 PPG sniper at a discount like that every day. They have 2 of the best centers in the league too, which just makes that more of a head scratcher - although maybe they can make just about anyone look good (Dupuis). oh, and YAY for Scherbak. He was the pick i was also hoping for.
  12. Rutherford is just terrible. How does that deal make any sense?
  13. Agreed, it'll take time for Vanek to build some chemistry with his linemates. I didn't expect tic-tac-toe plays between the three of them from the onset. And he did look tired. Not sure if it was just me paying closer attention, but his shifts seemed to be really short.
  14. Outside of the projected line-up, a lot of folks are slotting Vanek on the right-side. Straight from the horse's mouth, he states that he's much more comfortable on the left and that's where he's played most of his time in Buffalo. A perfect spot to fill on Pleky's line up (and give him the minutes he deserves). And a better reason not to break up Max/DD/Gallagher. Who knows, that Gally/Briere/Bourque line could do some damage. Was Eller a confirmed scratch?
  15. Geeze i turn the game on, within 5 seconds, Ducks get their first. 5 mins later the 2nd pops in. Should i turn off?
  16. Now watch EOTP totally diss the entire trade due to Collberg's amazing Corsi in the Jr. tournaments.
  17. Twitter is saying a conditional 2nd round pick now? Goes to a 1st if he signs?
  18. Haha that's a wonderful habs29RETIRED impersonation. Collberg or Leblanc.
  19. Well, looks like Tokarski might get a look after all. Is there that much of a cost differential between the two of them that Dubnyk to Hamilton is purely a $$ move?
  20. Yeah i'd of thought Tokarski would get a go before having to take this type of action. Not like the friggin' Bulldogs are going for a deep run at the Calder Cup this year.
  21. I say it's for a 5th round, to re-coup what we gave to Florida. Doubt teams are willing to pay for anything more for this guy.
  22. Yeah others are countering that there isn't anything imminent with Colorado. Holy moly on the St. Louis & Callahan deal. 1st and a 2nd round pick going to Tampa. Stevie Y came out on top for that one.
  23. Now if only MT is smart enough to pair him with Emelin and drop Gorges down to the bottom six with one of the kids. Emelin goes back to left and starts to dominate again and we have a pair that will seriously hurt the opposition. Am i right??
