  1. Good start to the game.....got a bit unlucky with the posts and the breezer tip-in.........seems like the flyers game plan was to cycle us to death and then hit the point man for a shot that would hopefully (for them) get deflected in.............hatcher is extremely slow; plex just skated by him on the semi-breakaway...........breezer did make a nice pass to set up the Kosty penalty shot.........regardless, it's time OB got some minutes.............don't even think about replacing Laps with Grabs........wouldn't mind seeing Ryder or Gui take over for Dandy.......price had trouble with his catching glove all night (too many rebounds)..........he can and will play better! GHG!!
  2. We need to abandon our trap and put forecheck pressure on their slow-footed D! We should make 2 lineup changes: (OB for Breezer, and Gui for Dandy) Habs 4 (Markov-Kosty Sr.-Tommy K.-Kovalev) B's 2 GHG!!!!!!!
  3. My favourite quote after last night's game (from cbssportsline.com): The Canadiens have a two-point lead on second-place Pittsburgh, which plays its final game Sunday in Philadelphia. Montreal will claim its first conference title in 19 years if the Penguins, who also have 47 wins, lose to the Flyers. "Obviously it would be great, but they don't really hang conference titles in this rink, they raise Stanley Cup banners," Q: Quote from??? A: Carbo .........and I hope the current crop will be made to realize this!
  4. No........If the 'Pens lose that means Philly wins and passes Ottawa into 7th place: This means we finish 1st and the Sens 8th, so we still play them. How ironic if that actually happens.....at the beginning of the year many of us would have loved to sneak into the playoffs and play the #1 seed Ottawa..........it will probably still happen, but with the standings upside-down!!
  5. Tidying up a few loose ends: Team needs to score at least 3 goals to pass Ottawa for most goals. Plex needs to at least score once and get an assist on another to get to the 30/40 marks. Sergei K. & Dandy need one goal each to reach double digits. To this end, Habs 6 (Plex-Sergei K.-Dandy-Higgins-Tom K.-Gui) make-beliefs 1 If Boston also wins (or ties) ve Buff tonight --> we get the sens (no matter what happens tomorrow). GHG
  6. With Sens loss this afternoon, all the Habs need is 1 point to capture the Northeast.......... Habs 5 (Grabs-Pair of TlTS-Begin-Smokes) Make Beliefs 3 GHG!!
  7. What pisses me off about the whole thing is what started that shift Saku & Streit both got injured on.....Saku was thrown out of the defensive zone faceoff by this fu**en linesman..........Habs lost the draw, and it became a Sabres shooting gallery with first Saku & then Streit getting nailed by shots....that linesman kept throwing Habs out the entire game at will as if he was trying to prove something .....I remember Grabs being tossed out at least 4 times.
  8. Agreed....with the one exception of a healthy Begin in for Grabs vs certain teams Tough game tonight though........I actually think the Habs would play better if they saw Chara in the lineup.....he gets totally frustrated vs our speed. Habs 3 (Ryder 2 + Markov) Bruins 2 GHG!!!
  9. I'm going to double you up and call for a snowman (to make up for Thursday's shutout): Habs 8 (Plex - Big Tlts 2 - Ryder - Higgins 2 - Streit - Gorges) Isles 2 GHG!!
  10. I was at the game....and I don't think that's what Muller was insinuating.....I didn't see anybody backing down from the physical play.......in fact, that's why a$$hole Niedermayer went after Hammer at the end of the game; he was trying to get even for that one shift when Hammer hit him about 3 or 4 times. I think fatigue got the best of them tonight: Koivu, Higgins Markov, even Kovy toward the game's end had mailed it in. You are right that they didn't play their best while out here; I actually thought that their best game was vs SJ (except for Carey).
  11. I was thinking the same....we need to clinch a playoff berth ASAP and give some rest to those in need.....it'd be nice to finish first and get home-ice overall, but not as important as keeping bodies healthy.....I figure that's what's happening with Begin right now....we'll need him down the road, so Carbo's resting his banged up body.
  12. So will I.....and I'll also be at Staples tomorrow for the Kings game........I bought the tickets when they hit the box office in September (not really knowing what kind of team we'd be icing).......FINALLY!!
  13. Hope Max & Ryder get back on the same line w/Streit......Max is great at opening up room for Streit (the passer) and Ryder (the shooter)......Smokes looks like he's about ready to cash in his chips. Habs 5 (Higgins-Ryder-Streit-+ Pair of Tlts) Yotes 3 GHG!!
  14. Neither can I.....Also going to the LA game at Staples.......I'll finally get to see the Habs in person for the first time in 4 years!
  15. Froms cbssportsline.com.... "We got caught on our heels and allowed them back into the hockey game," Rangers coach Tom Renney said. "I give the Montreal fans a ton of credit. That's what you're supposed to do, you're behind your team and they did a great job of that and this hockey team, which is very dangerous, certainly fed off of that and took what we gave them." What an awesome game !!
  16. Cat, my condolences as well. If the Rangers go after our best....watch out Jagr/Drury/Gomez....Eye for an eye. Habs 4 (Ryder-Kosty Sr.-Gorges-Streit) Rags 2 GHG!!
  17. I don't think it was about the evidence.....they didn't even need to go to the replay.....the ref disallowed the goal immediately because Price was pushed into the net by Richards' stick ...even though he didn't smash into Price with his body, Richards jammed his stick into Price's pads & leveraged Price into the net......very nifty play on his part, but Dave Jackson saw exactly what happened and waived off the goal according to league rules. On a side note, it was interesting to note who Carbo had on the ice when the Flyer's pulled their goalie.........Komi & Hammer on "D" (no Markov).......and 3 of our best offensive players in Kovy, Plex, and Saku up front. I read somewhere that Markov is ranked 5th in the league in Giveaways, but I think that's because he makes a lot high-risk passes up the middle trying for a home run.........a lot of those giveaways end up being icing calls on us.
  18. Totally agree.........this is what I really notice (and like) about him; he's not afraid to be first on the puck in the corners despite his smallish stature........and when he does get hit, he does not take the retaliation penalty.......just hope that he starts learning how to leverage his body a bit better (a la Cube) when taking and dishing out hits in those tight situations.
  19. Then in his next game he scores 4 goals against us!
  20. Their fat play-by-play announcer (name??) must have been beaten up quite a few times as a kid, because he seems to have a "we're tougher than them" complex whenever Ottawa is losing.......he criticized Komi for not dropping the gloves more often as a "weakness to his overall game"...........also said 'Tender & Laps were known around the league as guys who like to hit from behind..............wonder what he must of said to protect Neil at the punch he took at Markov's face at game's end ("Oh, I'm sure it was just out of frustration"!).........idiot homer.
  21. Great work again 'Claw!! Tougher game today against a much more talented team than the Isles and who are more rested and on a bit of a roll themselves: But we owe them for those 2 setbacks in NY. If it's Halak, Habs 5 (Ryder, Higgins, Tommy K, Kosty Sr. Latendresse) Rangers 2 If it's Huet, Habs 5 Rangers 4 Win this and its for first place on Tuesday!! GHG!!
  22. Hey Easy Ryder, 1. I'll get pumped up as much as I want. 2. Your "fluke line" had a pretty good game....maybe not a "monster" game but a good game. 3. I do have respect for the opposition, but I also knew coming in that the flu bug had hit them hard...INCLUDING DIPETRO!! 4. The prediction I made (6-2) was also based on how we've been playing at home lately. 5. You were right on 2 things: DiPietro despite being sick made it closer than it should have been, and Kovalev did make the difference again.
  23. here's hoping to a breakout game from koivu's line: habs 6 (higgins 2 koivu markov tom k. plex) isles 2 ghg!!
  24. First of all, please re-read the title of the thread; its all about catching the Sens & first in the EAST. Secondly, yes I do remember that @sskicking. Finally, what happened to the "no negativity" clause regarding this particular thread?
