  1. In today's on-line Montreal Gazette (last 2 paragraphs).......Jack Todd "Tonight's game is a reprise of sorts of the gold-medal game at the Torino Olympics 14 months ago, when Mats Sundin's Swedes beat Saku Koivu's Finns for the gold. Tonight the two captains square off again. Unless the Habs can pull off a miraculous road win, the result will be the same." Geez, thanks for the confidence booster Jack..............I don't think we need a "miracle" to win this game! GHG!
  2. Basic Hockey 101: Forecheck....Backcheck....Paycheck! Habs 4 (Higgins (2), Bonk, Ryder) Leafs 2 GHG!
  3. My vote goes to Higgins.......consistently passionate game in game out.
  4. I don't think he's injured, he's just acting so the refs call a penalty............I've never seen anybody cry so much (except perhaps gretzky)
  5. Without a doubt.......If we don't make it.....I definitely don't want the Leafs to make it either.
  6. I'd actually like the Isles to win on Saturday afternoon cause: (1) the Habs play better when their neck is on the line; they won't just be playing for a tie (only to see the Leafs score a fluke goal just before game's end) (2) the Leafs don't just make the playoffs by beating us.....they'd need help from NJ......which might deflate them even before the game starts (a win in regular time would still not be enough) .....jmo
  7. Exactly......they are slow, like to rush at times and, inevitably, get caught......in the o-zone .....cycle, cycle, cycle, 'til they get tired --> they'll hook and hold ....Also don't worry about line match-ups, Carbo should just play Komi & Markov every second shift. Bouillion & Souray have also been looking better defensively. Great work, Spidey! Habs 5 (Ryder, Souray, Higgins (3)) Rangers 3 GHG!!
  8. .....that's where I remember him most ....when he was w/the oilers
  9. Yeah, I think they are...........probably realizing that the Leafs wouldn't get that far into the playoffs again during their lifetime.
  10. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m7FzWaBCgfE...ted&search= ......except who's Pat Hughes?....that was an awesome screen on the winning goal.
  11. well if the rags win tonight, not only do the Isles get eliminated (assuming a Habs victory), but the Rags playoff ticket gets punched which means they won't have as much to play for on Thursday......maybe time to rest Shanny & Jagr then? Great Work as always Spidey! Habs 5 Higgins-Kovy-Saks-Gui-Souray (with the record-breaker) Bruins 3 GHG
  12. you're not crazy.....just a habs fan.............you wouldn't believe how many bars I had to troll through in souther california in the late 80's until I found one which knew about the Anik satellite......good luck!
  13. Fact: the 4 goals Kovy's scored in the past 2 games were all about a foot or two away from the goal crease....someone's starting to get hungry (finally!).
  14. Great job again, Spidey!! Things to do: 1. Shoot 5-hole on Lundqvist. 2. Attack their big slow defence with speed; cycle & tire them out. 3. Dress Murray. Streit back to D. 4. Play Komi & Markov vs Jagr's line. 5. Score early & often....Rangers will fold. Things not to do: 1. Don't let Jagr hit our blue line w/speed (a la Gomez); they like to hit center ice fast and then drop it back to Jagr who's flying into the mix from behind. 2. Don't show Shanahan any respect. 3. Don't dress Gorges.....not physical enough against this team. 4. Don't screen Halak. 5. Don't let Avery get under your skin....hit him first (semi-legally), and goad him into a couple of penalties. Habs 5 (Higgins (2), Kovalev, Souray, AK 46) Rangers 3 GHG
  15. That's funny cause the Bruin's announcers (who almost started crying in the 3rd period) were raving all night long about how (unexpectedly) great Kovy was in the defensive zone while killing penalties ..........................pay no attention to healy or the rds boys...they're just playing up to their viewership................I hope the lines we ended the game with remain intact for the Caps: 27--11--73 21--35--46 84--14--20 22--40--32 Question: did Gui come back to the game after being hit by Souray's shot??
  16. 1. Keep Markov & Komi up against Sundin's line. 2. Stay out of the box. 3. Try to match Higgins/AK 46/Plex whenever Hal Gill is on the ice. 4. Coax Tucker into some stupid penalties. 5. Make a save or two when it counts. habs 5 (Higgins (2), Plex, Gui, Koivu) Leafs 3
  17. And who should we draft with the #1 pick in 2008?
  18. ....and obviously not true....let's get one to get us rolling
  19. Yea but knowing belfour he'd probably want a year extension on his contract....not worth it.
  20. After Stephane Quintal was traded (retired) to LA, Craig Rivet replaced him as the "blood and guts" of the team, never hesitating to step in when smaller teammates were targets of intimidation from the opposition........for his dedication to the CH, I salute him and wish him the best of luck in SJ. As for Saku's on-ice peformance being affected by this, I predict he will have his best game of the year tomorrow vs the leafs.....after all he's been through, please give him more credit for being the professional and quality person that he is.
  21. Carbo needs to have Komi up against Hunter; he's been hot lately, and he buried us last time. Habs 5 (Homecoming Higgins 2, Plex, Koivu, Markov) Isles 3 GHG!
