Nashville, and, to a certain extent, the Isles are faster teams........not Gui's strong suit......I'd like to see him back in the lineup against the bigger slower Leafs on Monday

Just some random thoughts on tonight's game.... .....Komi & Markov were awesome in controlling the 'Caps big shooters w/o taking penalties .....first line looks hungrier (especially Easy) .....Milroy goes to the net real well, and appears to be a smart defensive player as well .....Johnson drew both penalties that led to the 2 Habs 4-on-3 goals .....Semin has some serious offensive skills .....Halak is coming very close to playing the puck outside the trapezoid, but I love his overall aggressiveness .....For once, McCreary called a decent game Two in a row now....we need to win at least 2 out of the next 3 (preferably the Isles and the Leafs) -

Colby + Downey's Fists = Swiss Habs 6 (Higgins, Ryder, Koivu, Plex, Streit (just to oblige to the theme), Sammy Pens 0 (with "Bing" a minus 3) -
.......I agree there's definitely something wrong with Higgins.....I was watching him closely during this afternoon's game, and he seems to be having trouble turning (I think) to his right......Not using it as an excuse, but I don't think he's at 100%..............As far as trades go, I'd like to see another big body up front (like Trent Hunter from the Isles)....we need to be much more effective at cycling in the offensive zone....teams do it to us on a consistent basis..........our D and forwards start running around, get tired, and then we get scored on....this I think is the main reason why we're so weak 5-on-5.........in the playoffs (and I'm going to assume here that we'll make them), refs tend not to call as many penalties; we'll need to get goals by earning them.

Actually I think the "benching" occurred after Markov tried the exact same "spin" play in the corner during the second period, and again lost the puck leading to another good Thrasher scoring opportunity, only this time Huet made a great save........after that one, I think Carbo had seen enough...........also, a strong game by the duo of Dandy & Cube..... . Finally, I think Carbo is starting to target certain defence pairs against certain opposition lines. For example, against big tough lines, he goes with Rivet & Souray; against speedy lines, Dandy & Cube, and against a team's #1 line, it seems to be Markov & Komi (who have a combination of both).......jmo.

Aside from Huet, I thought Johnson was the best player on the ice, followed by Kovalchuk, and then Gui..............also, and I never thought I'd be saying this, but Bonk's presence DOES make a difference. Good team effort.................QUESTION: Did Carbo bench Rivet for a while after taking that penalty in the first?

Down in the dumps cuz the Habs can't win a game?

During that Gingras interview, I started remembering that he had one of the best slap shots in the league at the time.....He was the Souray on the PP for the Habs back then.......I wonder how he'd do with today's sticks? -
From what I've seen, I think we have as legitimate a shot at winning the SC THIS YEAR as anybody else.......To that end, I would take a gamble this year and trade one or two of our prospects for Peter Forsberg (if we can manage to fit him in salary-wise).........I know he'll be a rental, but look at what Weight & Recchi did for the'Canes last year.....I don't think one addition would disrupt any chemistry (yes I know that Swedes & Finns don't like each other) playing with Kovalev & perhaps either Sammy or Gui......I also don't think we'll be mortgaging our future as we are deep in prospects; furthermore prospects don't always pan out, remember Balej? (for Kovy).........Forsberg when healthy is a sure thing.......sitting on a last place team with no chance for the playoffs, he would salivate at the thought of joining a contender for one more cup run...............we are dealing from strength, let's get stronger where we need to get stronger!
