I still can't believe... 4 hooking calls on the Habs. FOUR HOOKING CALLS. How many hooks did i count on the Bruins? At least 4 in the first and 3 in the 2nd, to my count. Refs should give the Bruins 5 penalties, even this shit up, then back off and let the guys play HOCKEY without all this bullshit.

Stop calling for Gainey's head. Only the players (and quite possibly the refs, at least this game...) can be blamed in the end.

I'm not saying the Habs would be leading if the reffing were consistent this game, but it wouldn't be 5-1 that's for sure. 3-1 at best. I need two hands to count the number of hooks i've seen from the Bruins in the 1st and 2nd. Sure the Habs got away with many of their own, but why the hell are the refs cherry picking their calls like this. It's beyond me. 5 power plays to 0? That's a net total of 10 minutes with a man down out of 40. Ridiculous.

Good post, raises a lot of interesting points. I thing that in the new NHL, a lot (if not most) teams are actually fairly well matched, and games can be won by any team, any night. The reason some teams do well is confidence, momentum, and sometimes a certain sense of inevitability which plays tricks on players. Being "in the zone" in hockey is unlike anything in any other sport. I think the Habs will prevail because the Bruins play style is one of confidence bordering on overconfidence and sometimes near cockiness. The Bruins bring a physical play that's designed to piss you off, to put it bluntly. My prediction is simple -- game 1.. the habs will get some early power plays, capitalize, and score up a 3-0 lead or something similar. It'll shake that mountain of Bruins confidence and suddenly the whole series will feel as if it's wide open. If the Habs can jump on that, they can win 4-0 like i'm predicting. Or it can be a total flop... nobody can tell the future, we can only speculate! Still, i see reason to believe that like the economic housing bubble, the Bruins are living in a hockey bubble of their own that is about to burst. Likewise, the Canadiens currency has been devalued and is due for a rise.

Hey now, let's not blow this out of proportions eithers... Anyone who takes the initiative to make a GDT has my respect, and i thank rafikz for that. The timing was just awkward... anyway, the mods have sorted it out. ON TO WHAT MATTERS PRE-SERIES DISCUSSSION! I'm going to *really* go against conventional wisdom here and call it for the Habs in 4. Blind optimism? Nope. Just that with the Habs... what you expect is always the opposite of what happens.

No one gave us a chance last season... and we finished first in the east. No one giving us a chance this post season... destined to finish first? Either way, it's always cool to be the underdog.

Yep game 2 through 7 are ready, minus the stats which have to be done after the games. Thanks for merging, i think that was the best thing to do. The only thing is the game thread stuff is on page 3... lol Can you edit rafikz' first post and throw my GDT there? Or move my post to the first page at least?

+1 Just because this season has been so weird, that the least likely thing to occur... will probably find a way to occur.

Like i said in the other thread: Honestly, I don't care who makes the game threads, as long as they get done However... because it had been decided a few weeks ago that i'd be making them in the postseason (KoZed even mentions it in his signature) i got started working on my graphics a few days ago. I spent nearly 3 hours making this GDT, so i'll throw up the GDT as planned and let the mods decided what to do. They can toss this one, they can toss the other one, they can merge them, it's up to them. Just, please... in the future, if we decide to designate person X for a GDT, as we did in this case, let that person go ahead and put up the thread.. it's a lot of work that goes to waste if someone else jumps in with a thread first.

So to not let content go to waste, I'll post it and i'll let the mods decide what they want to do.
