I'm with you man. Kosty looked good last year with Higgins and Plex. That's it. Other than that, he does nothing for me. Perez never did anything for me. I'm gonna catch a lot of slag for this, but it just seems that most Russian players that have played for the Habs are loaded with talent and lean on heart. Or they have no finish like Petrov. This is not meant as a racist slur. It is just the way the kids are brought up to play. I would rather see a bench full of Fins. They are scrappy little b----rds. There are exceptions to every rule, like Markov.

I totally agree with you. He has potential to be great, but the 1st and 3rd goals would have been saves if Huet was in nets. One thing I considered while cursing him after the the Whitney goal was that maybe some of the saves that Price made look easy would have looked like amazing saves if Huet was in. Price's positional play is exceptional. Huet has to move around a little more to make the saves. I still think I will buy a Price jersey on Friday before I go to the Habs game on Saturday. It's him or Koivu, and I would rather have the jersey of a Canadian player.

You know what I have noticed in a lot of games, and not just Habs games, is that when the game is a one or two goal game, the leading team often gets a penalty call in the last 5 minutes. The league wants the shootout. It makes the game exciting and makes fans sit on the edge of their seats. It was funny last night. I was watching the game with my daughter's boyfriend who is a Penguins fan, and he says "take a guess at who get's a penalty in the last 5 minutes of the game." Sure enough, Kosty goes off. (I missed that call. I don't know if it was legit.) 2 minutes later Begin goes off for absolutely nothing. (Pens hadn't scored yet.) Pay attenetion to other games and highlights. It is funny how often you will see this occur. It's as predictable as wrestling.

Yes, but when Kosty has a bad game, he is a little fast guy who isn't doing anything. When Lats has a bad game, there is a good chance there will be one or two bone crushing hits in the end boards. I say that if the team is winning with their current roster and lines, don't mess with it. We all complain like crazy when Carbo juggles lines around like he does, then we complain again when he doesn't play our favorite prospect.
-
Oh yeah...Lats looked better too. His hands are loosening up, which is his 2nd best weapon. And he protected the puck nicely along the boards a few times, and delivered that stadium shaking check, which is his biggest weapon. I predict Lats will unfortunately beat Chris Niel for injuring other team's players with his menacing forecheck.

I think my tickets are in the 333 section. I haven't got them yet. I will be right at the edge of an upper section. ( that is the description from the guy who gave them to me.) I'm flying from Fort Mcmurray Alberta, staying for 5 nights. (Never been to Montreal before.) And I'm watching the Nov 2 SAturday game against Toronto and the Monday Buffalo game.

It's kinda like a father son relationship. Or at least mine with my dad. Then when you do get a bit of praise you feel like a king.

I hope Kosty picks it up, so we can see the Kosty, Plex, Higgins line again. I thought that line was amazing last year. That second line was as good as any in the league. The only problem is that Ryder actually looks good this year, so you would be breaking them up. No offense to Ryder fans out there, but he just looked like a one trick pony before. This year he is starting to look like a good hockey player. Not just a decent goal scorer.

I agree Kozed. Carbo only has so many players to work with. The ones who are not "complete" players like Higgins or Plex need to be used in different situations, and they need to be able to perform well as a team. I sometimes wonder if this isn't why he juggles lines so often as well. Getting his players used to playing with everyone. Making a competent team that can embrace any situation. That's a little optimistic I guess, but when you have a bench full of young guns, why not see what they can do in key situations early in the season?
-
I think this may be the only way for the team to get that scoring forward. Trade Huet for a high caliber forward. If Price continues to play well maybe we could trade Huet and bring up Halak as backup. I like Huet a lot, but if Price can handle the game, maybe it would be best. Maybe we would have another Fleury too though. Thrown into the action too quickly.

So if the Flyers are a Cup contender after 2 weeks because they won a few games, that must mean that the Habs have been cup contenders for the last 3 years. They started the season very well for 3 years in a row. Gainey went after UFAs like crazy. We got what we got. Deal with it. I wish we would have signed Smythe or Gomez or Briere or Drury, but we didn't (couldn't) sign them. Lets hope that Higgins continues to develop, and Price turns out to be a star. Drop someone and get Lappiere back on the ice. A fantastic goalie and a system is all it takes to win cups. Brodeur and the New Jersey Trappers have shown this before. -

Sounds like the Habs are starting to hammer them with shots. -
What design should Price have on his mask?
BCHabnut replied to The Chicoutimi Cucumber's topic in Habs & Hockey Talk
I liked Roy's and Hackett's masks the best, out of all the goalies in recent history. I think Price's mask looks good though. The big :hlogo: on the top is probably a little tribute to Roy. -
Carey Price was born in Vancouver but raised in Williams Lake. My wife was also born and raised there. The cowboy is a symbol of his hometown. Williams Lake Stampede is a big rodeo. The largest ranch in BC is just outside Williams Lake. The mask is just a connection to his roots. As stated earlier, his mother is the chief of one of the native reserves.

I only saw the third period and thought that Gorges looked OK in the third. He must have really bombed in the 1st and 2nd. How did Kosopolis look? I think Lappierre should be playing. Not him. I am not seeing any of the grit and spark that he is supposed to have. Begin makes him look like a sloth out there.

Wow dude, Get outta my brain! I agree with every part of that statement! I would also try O'byrne with Hammer. I felt their chemistry was good in the pre season. From what I saw. -
Which offseason addition had the best opening week?
BCHabnut replied to MMPL's topic in Habs & Hockey Talk
Ya it's been said many times that if you don't notice your D, it's usually a good thing. That being said, I was hoping to see his point shot a little more often. He has a pretty good point shot you know. -
I am coming to Montreal on November 2nd for a few games. I was wondering if anyone could suggest a place to get either a new Koivu jersey or a Lafleur jersey in Montreal. I will be staying at the Sheraton, and I know that if I attend the games with a new jersey, they will win. Also, I am an NHL noob. I am from northern BC, and have never been to an NHL game. What are the rules concerning cameras, signs flags, etc.. I was thinking of making a sign and trying to get on Hockey Night in Canada or RDS. Chances are slim but hey why not get into the spirit.

I thought that RDS.ca was going to stream games live on the internet.
