  1. TSN just reported that the Habs have not contacted Dumont.
  2. Congrats Kaos, I assume the mom shot down the names Saku, Guy, Larry, Bob or Cristbual. Komi is not going anywhere.
  3. All I am going to predict is this: the Habs make it into the playoffs this year without any of the last two week dramatics. I am not sure they have the size (yet) to plug through an entire playoff. Remeber, it is the hardest trophy to win. Of course, I would love to be wrong and BOB knows more than I.
  4. Everyone seems harsh today. Too many drinks last night? I hope Koivu returns to his glory. If not, then his career will come to an end and J Williams will probally feel terrible for it. Accidents happens
  5. We can't give up Komi! He is our future blueline. Even late last year he showed signs of greatness. He is getting paid little and he sure loves to win. Trading him will bite us in the ass.
  6. I think he has the talen. I would like to see the effort. These reports of his off season training seems to show the effort. At least the understanding that he needs to get better. Skeptical but hopeful.
  7. I wouldn't trade Dumont for Komi straight up.
  8. Ryder is a vitale aspect of our team. If he repeats his second year, while playing with a bad back, I would be pleased.
  9. What a fun picture. It will do nicely to drive the habs-haters at work crazy.
  10. Briere is asking for a lot of money. I do not know how we can get him without giving up some youth. Afi and Dumont are also asking too much. If we could get them for a steal, maybe. Otherwise I think we need to pass and prepare for the trade deadline and injuries. However, if Bob can make one of these happen, he has to go for Briere. I am hoping for one of our youth to step into the role for considerably less money.
  11. I am surprised. I am the third Islander. The backwoods of PEI. Cheering for the Habs ever since Nilan knocked down Clark.
  12. I think we are big enough for the regular season, however, come playoff time...If we were to face a team like 05-06 Oilers in the finals, we would be run over, smashed up and riddled with injury. I don't think a little 'toughness' would hurt. Don't get me wrong. The boys that are playing hard are impressive. However, come playoff time, the little guy can only dish out so much against the big guys before they are sidelined. Duration is my concern.
  13. C-Love, wan't it you who posted how we should get rid of Huet? Change your mind? For the record, I always appriciated the role Bonk plays. During the pentaly kill he stands his ground and makes it miserable for the oppenents utilizing that long reach. I think Bonk is overpaid and the 'potential star status' title that had been dogging him for years has made expectations too high. I think weu would have a less efficiant pentaly kill without him. I do not want that. And for the record, I also think the Bonk bashing will start 2 weeks into the season and was a little surprised to see this posting.
  14. Good post. I believe that once the UFA dust settles there will be a lot of GMs regretting their itching singing fingers. There sure seemed to be a lot of cash over a long period of time handed out this season. There is more than a few teams that have committed themselves to little movement on their current roster for the entire season. Doing such seems like too much of a gamble for my liking. Sometimes the tortoise does win.
  15. Such good news. I can see Higgins fast becoming one of my favorite players. He doesn't seem to be working for the paycheck. Which of course, is priceless.
  16. Overpaid. With that said, I think he is a great addition to the team. I would hate to lose him in the upcoming season. And in a unrelated note: I also think he is pretty cool.
  17. Considering out quiet UFA moves, leaving Ryder off any list is absurd. He is one of our hardest working goal scorers. Come Oct. I predict some people on the page will be denying they ever knocked him.
  18. After much shuffling - NJ
  19. If my post implied Perez was anything but great, my mistake. I would hate to see him leave. I wish we could keep him. I also know that it is a bit of a gamble. Zherdev could grab big money and sit around. But aren't we all glad we gambled with Kovalev. Zherdev is a 21 year kid who can tear the roof off.
  20. Good for Toronto. Now they just need to seal up Belfour with a big fat contract and their defence from last year can stay intact. Ha.
  21. Lets do it. All Zherdev needs is a few thousand habs fans chanting his name to keep him in check. Netting 50 odd points for CBJ is a whole lot bet than what Perez did this year. I know ice time is a factor, but I don't think we can pass up on pure talent like this guy possesses. I will miss Sheldon's shot but you have to pay to play.
  22. Nah. I can't picture myself cheering for JR.
  23. A little under 3 mil for the starting goalie is a heck of deal. I think it would not hurt to hold on to Aebi to see what happens in the new season. If Huet stumbles we can rely on Aebi. If Huet soars we have one of the best back up goalies in the league, ideally, fighting for a #1 position. I also think that come the end of Decembre there will be many teams hungry for a #1 goaltender and Aebi's stock will raise accordingly. Win win. Plus this goalie competion would allow Danis to be a starter in the farm team and be ready step up come the Aebi trade time. Not to wish the summer away, but I sure can't wait to see the Canadiens when they hit the ice this fall.
  24. I agree 100% with K the Cruncher. Arnott is one of those players that can draw two players away from the game while he is handling the puck. Can you imagine what Kovalev could do with that extra space. I am surprised about the reluctance to bring him to the team. Arnott would make the team better.
