  1. Huh? How are they drawing it out? Hasn't 5 minutes per pick been the norm for a while? You should try watching an NFL draft where they recently decreased the time per pick to 10 minutes (from 15 minutes) when they started doing it in prime time. I like it. As much as I enjoyed just getting the TSN feed from NBCSN, it was kind of bush league to not produce their own presentation. What is wrong with her? She's doing fine.
  2. WOW at the contract Chicago have Jones. I don't buy into him being overrated, but even I would never give him that kind of contract. Thank goodness he wanted out of Columbus! I think we can say goodbye to Douggie Hamilton if that is the kind of money being thrown around right now.
  3. It started with a joke that Weber retiring is better than still having Subban, which I followed up with a joke about PK being our plan C replacement for Weber and it developed into learning about Gallagher and Subban's fued. I don't think anybody actually thinks it is the least bit likely.
  4. After the year he had, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets closer to 6. He bet on himself and it paid off. Pretty straightforward, I think. Chiarot-Petry, Edmunson-Barrie, and Romanov-Savard. At least to start the season, with the hope than Romanov works his way up the lineup.
  5. That's what I found when I tried to search for info, but that doesn't seem like much to me. Just sounds like a guy that was sick of the Montreal media and fans dwelling on PK more than a year after he was traded. And I suppose Chelios was traded because he slept with Ronald Corey's wife. Or went out partying and inadvertently took home a minor. Or whatever other rumors are out there.
  6. For what does Bergevin have to forgive Subban? Bergevin is the one who blindsided Subban by trading him in the eve of his NMC going into effect. Subban thought he was going to be a Hab for life.
  7. The whole premise of a rebuild was predicated on Price either being gone or too injured to play next season. As long as Price is a part of the team, they are not going to rebuild.
  8. If we can't get Hamilton or Barrie, I'd take a chance on that. Only one year left on his deal, so you can reset and try one last time in free agency next year. New Jersey would have to retain salary, of course.
  9. Can we close this thread since it was predicated on losing Price in the expansion draft? There is no rebuild right now.
  10. I have never really believed that we would see it, even at the time of the trade. But if he's been fighting issues all this time that he's finally addressed, maybe we actually will see another side of him. Maybe he's grown up and I will think differently of him that the kid that threw a fit over being demoted. If they trade him and are able to acquire a top 6 forward without hampering replacing Weber, that's fine. But let's not ship him out for nothing just to be rid of him. He's not so bad that that would be addition by subtraction.
  11. Their awful finish to the season contradicts that he made the team better when he left. We have no idea how Drouin would have responded in the playoffs to playing a very specific role like the rest of the team did. He is a frustrating player so we assume that he'd have been shuffled to the press box like Tatar. But we don't know that. They certainly could have used his skill instead of relying on Lehkonen and Byron for offense. The PP desperately needed a left shooting forward to play opposite Caufield. This team has a huge need for a player like Drouin and now that he seems to have gotten his life in order, maybe will will begin to see the player Tampa drafted so high.
  12. It's going to be a wild off-season. I didn't think I'd see anything today as baffling as Seattle's draft yesterday. Why on earth do you give up a relatively young goalie whose contract demands are not outrageous? And to get such a small return? And from what I understand, nobody else in the pipeline? What on earth is happening around this league?
  13. What is most interesting about it is that I thought Eberle and Bailey were the two least likely salaries for them to select. With Keiffer Bellows available, I am baffled that the Isles were one of the only teams they took on big salary from.
  14. They obviously have no interest in overpaid players and I doubt any free agent looks at that roster and wants to go there without getting overpaid.
  15. Wow. Yanni Gourde goes from 3rd line on a Cup champion to best forward on the Kraken. I wonder if the UFAs they convinced to sign in the exclusive window had any idea how bad this roster was going to be.
  16. That is absolutely shocking. I expected teams to be more judicious than with Vegas, but you're telling me not a single team had to pay to not lose a player they liked? It's almost unfathomable. All of those cheap contracts, yet they make Jordan Eberle their 2nd highest paid player instead of taking Keiffer Bellows? They pick a UFA AHLer from Columbus? All those fringe NHLers (at least to this point? Do they think they're gonna find a bunch of William Karlsson? And they've got be be flipping Giordano, right? A 37 year old on that roster makes no sense.
  17. I think only one person criticized the idea, and I'm guessing he hadn't heard about Tarasenko wanting out. And it was certainly before St. Louis didn't protect him, showing that they are definitely committed to honoring his request to get out of St. Louis.
  18. They don't even need that. It's not like they went into very much depth on each pick and they didn't even show any video of guys like Bayruether even with all the time they had. Seattle obviously knows these players, so just have them provide a brief explanation/scouting report with their picks. The Driedger and Eberle picks leaked, but I didn't hear anything about them being there in person, so they were capable of keeping at least something under wraps.
  19. Seems like someone told TSN and the well known insiders to shut the hell up. None of them have posted anything since around the time the Borgen pick was spoiled. They should have thought of that a lot earlier.
  20. I thought we got rid of the Kostitsyn brothers!
  21. This is the culmination of years of terrible marketing. Even when the league produced a brilliant line of myNHL ads, they were too cheap to air them anywhere other than during NHL games. This was a huge opportunity for the league to make a splash on ESPN and they totally botched it.
  22. You all realize you're talking about a 5.25 number that some random person on Twitter posted... RIght?
  23. We should live reactions from players finding out, too! The only people who should know until the show should be the Seattle front office and the league officials who verify and approve it.
