  1. That's the problem. Does he have what it takes to handle all this criticism? I don't dislike Price. But the media and many fans do. I think he is going to have a tough time with these fans. They will get back into his head. As for Halak, I just though they could have got more for him.

do anyone think its time to look in to hiring roy to help out with price and so he can tell the media where to go and iam sure fans well fall in line..

  2. haha yeah it was me who said that stuff in the other thread. My point isn't that he's no good for a second line.

But I look at it like this:

If Pouliot-Eller-Pacioretty is your 1st line, you probably have a bad team.

If Pouliot-Eller-Pacioretty is your 2nd line, you probably have a mediocre team.

If Pouliot-Eller-Pacioretty is your 3rd line, you probably have a good team.

If Pacioretty is your 4th line, you probably have a great team.

I wouldn't pull my hair out if Eller is our #2 center but three good centers is better than two, so I would still like to have Plekanec or a Plek replacement.

but the lines well look nothing like that, the #2 line well be cammy-eller-Frolov(or another ufa) if iam a betting man...I think pouliot and Pacioretty be fighting for first line ice team till one takes the job...

  3. It could work simply by trading Hammer...

Frolov (4m) and Marleau (5.5m) = Pleks and Hammer.

Then we trade the Kostys for a 2nd line winger!

well its been rumour frolov whats 5mil and marleau is between 6-7 mil.....I dont know if u land much of a winger with the kostys....

  4. This is 100% correct. Those same fans will try to stoke the fire after every poor game Price plays over the rest of

    his Montreal career.

Perception is far from reality. I thought the habs might deal Price until I saw his salary and his missed bonuses.

Once I realized he was going to make less than $2M per, I knew he would likely stay. I just wasn't sure that Gauthier

had the gonads to do it.

That one move and his accompanying press conference made me feel a lot better about this team than I have since

Gainey blew up the roster. I liked Eller before he came here, added with Subban and Price, the habs have a trio of players

who can give them monster value to make up for the over inflated UFA deals.

Unfortunately Price is now in the center of a flaming inferno and anything less than a great season will be criticized.

i hope the leaders on this team sticks up for price with the media.....

  5. from his debut when he came in and got the Habs to within one win of a playoff spot and got booted for Huet, I have believed that Halak was never given respect. All he has done is work hard and perform very consistently. I do not see the extreme ups and downs in Jaro that I do in Price. For the record, only one of my jersies has a name on the back. The name is Price. I have high hopes for him as well. But to say that Jaro is not consistent, and only played half a good season is blind. He warmed the bench without complaint and played well when he was asked. He has developed more consistently with less drama and more results than his counterpart. Go back one year and I was fighting with people that Price was the man and Jaro had to go. I still don't believe that either should have gone.

I still believe that if I am evaluating a PROSPECT (someone who has never played in the NHL.) Where he developed does matter. Sorry. It's what I think. The draft is a crapshoot. Like I said draft from anywhere. But to trade a PROVEN QUALITY asset at his highest possible value for a prospect that is not proven, that also does not come from a place where hockey developement is big, is risky. I hope I am chanting Eller's name at the TV in a few years. I'm a Habs fan and I don't care if I am cheering fo Hiroshi Yanamaki. I want proven assets for proven assets. If I am getting prospects in place of assets, I would preffer that they come from somewhere that Hockey developement is strong.

most of this ups and down shit with price is blown up by the media..his 22 learning to be a goalie in the nhl, its not his fault he couldnt win the cup by the old age of 22...I got faith in price but feel most fans in montreal as quit on him..

Halak asked for a trade out of montreal this year( no up and downs right)I would also like to keep both but i could not have lock halak up at 4-5 mil a year...I think price is the better deal with number that are close to halak and half the price...

I think u over price halak, if you look at the goalies trade in the past 5 years i think we did pretty good in the return...

eller is a proven prospect..he was draft in the first round, played in the highest Swedish league, put up good numbers in the ahl, and in 7 games in the nhl he as 2 goals...

His father Olaf is the current coach of the Danish Under-20 national team and former Danish international ice hockey player and former coach of several teams so iam sure that as help his developement no matter where his from...

  6. I think they can still develop on the third line just fine, as long as they aren't being asked to play a checking role like Perezhogin was. They aren't that impressive on a second line, but they should do fine as an offensively-minded third line.

The jump from the AHL to our 2nd line might take some getting used to. We want our prospects to work their way up, no? Give him 12-15 minutes playing two-way hockey on the third line until he is ready for more. I think he can score 30-50 points in the NHL this season (depending how he's used). That's too good for the AHL, especially for a guy that's supposedly a very complete player.

from what i been reading he was going to be STL #2 C this year and was pick to be in the mix for rookie of the year....i guess a few other teams made offers for him also...looks like a good pick up...i hope he works out for us.

  7. 3rd line in MTL -

He was set to be St. Louis's 2nd line center and challenge for a Calder nomination. All Blues fans agree that he's NHL ready.

and this is why i think plexs is a goner..we use his money to sign a big winger or trade for one..

  8. Did i miss something ? Price agreed for 1.5 million, multi year contract.

Or it's just 1.5 until he get UFA and we lose him for nothing.

This is how we are use to see our players come and go.

Plekanek will not sign in MTL, we're gonna lose Price when he will start to be a very good

goalie, Markov will walk away next year, same old song bla bla bla...

well price cant walk away till his 27 and his only 22 now..i cant see price being sign for that much this year..can u?I really do think plexs well walk unless we give him 5mil ayear for 5 years but every teams players become ufa and sign with other teams, this happens to every team in the nhl just not the habs....Markov might leave he be ufa next year so thats up to him...his 32 now so i could see him moving on,lets just hope subban can be the man 2 take his place...but i like to lock markov up till his at least 35...

  9. Am I the only one that's bitter about this? We got a bag of pucks and a water bottle for Halak. These guys might be able to play in the NHL. That's it. We don't know. We gave up our starter and from what I can tell, a guy who can handle big pressure for two guys who have 7 games combined under their belt! The Danish thing I said came off as insensitive. I didn't mean anything racial. I would just prefer that high end prospects (prospects are just that. They aren't NHL proven stars like we gave up!) After all, Denmark is a hotbed of prospective NHL talent.

This team has been stymied for a few years against a certain style of play. (Big guys on the back end and a defensive system) Everyone is happy to keep Plek and let Halak go. I don't get it. I realize you need to put things in perspective, but I have never seen the emotional stuff out of Halak. I want nothing more than for Price to succeed. He's from my wife's home town. (william's lake, not vancouver) I think Price will succeed. Just not in Montreal. He's a headcase. Ugggghhhh.....There better be more coming later.

First I got mad and thought it was the worst deal ever. Then I started thinking about and though it might be OK. Now I'm mad again.

you keep talking like halak is a proven goalie??? he had one really good year, we all saw this before...guy have a good year, signs big deal then sucks..not saying this is going to happen but it might and because a guy from denmark dont mean anything... halak from Slovakia not like they got the best goalies in the word..I dont think halak really what to stay here anyway and the rumour is that a offer sheet was coming..

I going to have faith in the new gm....

  10. If his deal is more than one year then Edmonton. They have huge problems attracting free agents, and will need someone to pass the puck to Hall and Eberle.

The best situation would be if we signed Marleau. Both he and Eller can play C and wing, so the whoever earns it can play it, plus it would give us a nice safety net in case of a top-2 C going down.

edmonton got alot of young guys at C and if we dont offer him more then one year why would he sign here anyway????to get plexs sign it well take at least a 5 year deal...

  11. i really think theirs a god chance plexs wont be back so that would make eller our # 2 C but if not he should be in the ahl...

whos going to trade for plexs 5.5 mil deal after he loses his job to eller??????????????????????????

  12. I like the idea of having a 3rd line that can score. I'm not really comfortable with Pouliot and Eller in the top 6.

then they should be in the ahl to get the most ice time and pp mins they can...i hate using high end prospect on the 3rd and 4th line and then hear people b*tch because they dont light it up...

like i said i like to see these lines. I think eller be made to look like a rockstar playing with cammi and a guy like Kovalchuk...and i hope the habs got Pouliot at the gym all summer so he can add some weight....I think all these lines can score and play hard...

    Gionta - Gomez -Pouliot

    Cammy-Eller-Kovalchuk

    Pacioretty- Moore -Moen

    Pyatt -lapierre -White.

  13. There've been rumours about Frolov for a long time. I would like to see that happen. Imagine Jokinen for 3.75M and Frolov for 4M instead of Plekanec, Moore, SK.

It would definitely fill out the forward lines nicely.

    Frolov-Gomez-Gionta

    Cammelleri-Jokinen-Kostitsyn

    Pouliot-Eller-Lapierre

    Pyatt-White-Moen

That's clearly an improvement on last season, even if you replace Jokinen with Lombardi.

i cant see useing 2 top 6 fowards like pouliot and eller on the third line...if their no room for them on the top 2 line they should be left in the ahl to get big time mins....I dont what Jokinen unless its for cheap...plus Kostitsyn should be traded right away...

  14. i really starting to think we are going to makea move for F Ilya Kovalchuk, i think we well trade plexs rights, trade the Kostitsyns and with trading halak we might make it work...

    Gionta - Gomez -Pouliot

    Cammy-Eller-Kovalchuk

    Pacioretty- Moore -Moen

    Pyatt -lapierre -White.

we trade plexs rights for a 3rd pick, trade A Kostitsyns for a # 2 pick or youngest...move s Kostitsyn for 6 round pick....

  15. Maybe, i think the Gomez line stays intact with Pouliot. Hopefully he will have a good season.

I think Cammi will play with Eller and a LW not on the current roster. I think Pleks is gone.

I do likr Trotter, will probably be atleast the forst top 6 callup.

They would have room in that scenario to get a top LW and possibly resign Moore.

    Pyatt Moore Moen

    LW lapierre White.

But i have been wrong many times, i just see the need to over pay on Pleks with Eller basically NHL ready.

I read some Blues fans posts on a site and they all saif Eller is NHl ready and was scheduled to be the # 2 center there this year.

Sorry i don't see the nned to over pay on Pleks. Missed a word there.

i think your right...puting eller between cammi and another good winger could make this look like the best trade ever....( Kovalchuk,Frolov,Kariya..etc)or maybe trade for a guy..

  16. But you need to keep the cap in mind. You can't just let Plekanec go and then hope to sign a big 1st line forward for 5 million dollars... when there is no such player on the free agent market. It is either re-sign Plekanec (probably overpaying by a bit) or downgrade Plekanec.

Eller may be an upgrade in the future - for now he's just depth at C. He should serve for now as a 3rd line C. In the future, he'll climb up our depth chart.

Eller can play C/w so maybe if we can get sharp C/w then we can find out who fits the role better for our #2 line and move the other one to the wing..If we cant sign plexs i hope we more his rights for a pick...

  17. My initial reaction was disappointment, but now that I've settled down, I'm gonna wait and see where the chips falls before I get too carried away. All things considered, this is a good return on an RFA at this point in the year. I'm sure we would have all preferred an established roster player, but obviously that couldn't be had at this point.

    So now, I wonder....

    Who will backup Price?

Is Pleks as good as gone with Eller in the system?

Is this just the first of many shakeups?

Farewell Halak. Thanks for a great season!

I dont think pleks well be back and i think this was done a week before the draft so we could sign or make a deal..I hope we dont over pay for a backup ..

  18. this come back to you dont get much for a goalie, i said this a couple of days of go and guys what us to get guys like carter and stamkos lol..thats not going to happen..this comes back to halak ask for a trade last year, talk of going to khl, now he whats big cash...

its a ok deal, looks like a good young pick Eller is a good prospect and Schultz looks like a good 4th/ 3rd liner...
