I'm annoyed by Marty's stubborn stand pat crap myself. It's not the reason we're losing this game by any means (our top line all look like shit, bonehead decisions by our d-men, plenty of blame to go around)....BUT....the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. It feels like quitting, and that's never ok.

Such a shock. It raises questions, with answers we may never be privy to. Did he have a history of suffering depression, or of battling substance issues? Was he in financial trouble? The kind of things that generally drive one to such an extreme act. It's sad that he didn't reach out for help, whatever the case may have been.

There was no point in pulling Dobes there...just gave Carolina a stat padder. Marty deserves the boos as much as any player tonight. Dobes was the only one who should be immune.

St. Louis has done a lot of things well, but he gets an F when it comes to making adjustments: refusal to push a change in gameplan onto his team (or an inability to get them to buy into a change, whatever the case may be), and a refusal to make lineup changes to get some fresh legs out there when fatigue is clearly a factor. It's aggravating.

When I think of torch candidates, I feel that there should be a cup ring requirement; the torch is supposed to be symbolic of carrying on the tradition of winning, after all. Shutt, Lapointe, Roy, Damphousse, Gainey, Roy, Lemaire, Desjardins would all be solid choices.

Hard to be upset when we were outplayed by a fair margin in that one.

Beautiful! Blew them the hell out. Didn't give up a late one to give them something positive to carry into game 2, just sent them home defeated and full of doubt.

Other than the first shift, that was a fantastic period. Scored 4 times, probably should have had 6. I pray to god the message is for the team to change nothing; stay aggressive, push hard for another goal or two. We are not built to defend...our best defence is possessing the puck.
