  1. We know.

But what age did Tiger Woods game drop to that of a mere mortal..35.

It is no surprise many pro athletes best days are behind them at 35 and small minority still do well.

And those with multiple knee surgeries, must be even slimmer crowd?

One or two year deal is fine by me; but, I would guess he will get his 3 year deal and only time will tell if smart.

cant even compare golf to hockey. Tiger Woods game didn`t decline because he was getting old, else Phil Mickelson or Jack Niklaus wouldn't be competitive at their respective ages.

/sarcasm golf isnt even a sport, its a game.

but i digress, Markov should be traded.

  2. What happens after next season? The cap will be $64.3M, but it'll probably go back to up $68-70M(if the revenue for next season goes back to what it was before this short season) for 2014/2015 season right? and thats when Markov/Gionta contract are up, there should be plenty of cap space, no?

  3. See the way the Blackhawks are getting crushed by the Bruins? That's us, but without Toews Kane and Hossa in two years. Losing - it's easy, and we're gonna love it!

You posted that just minutes before the Hawks won the cup... and were still leading the series anyways.

Im not too sure where in that series you saw the hawks getting crushed by the bruins..

  4. The Toronto war room issued a blog update that they reviewed and okay end the goal. They make all those calls.

By the way, even Cherry thought we were screwed over on the faceoff...

link? because i specifically heard Bob Cole say something like "Looks like they're aren't sending this to Toronto" on the cbc feed

  5. http://www.habseyesontheprize.com/2013/1/21/3884474/p-k-subban-vs-his-peers-habs-montreal-canadiens

so we have an elite defensemen acording to all the statistical analysis in the world. im not going to pretend i understand the math behind all this, but I can read words with the best of them, and according to the author of this article, Subban is a top-15 overall defensemen.

pay him and sign him like one MB.

  6. Players should be penalized for turning their back to the play intentionally to avoid being hit OR they should modify the hitting from behind rule so it's not illegal to hit someone who can be facing the play, but chooses to not be to avoid being hit. Players need to stop abusing this rule to gain an advantage. I understand the safety issue with hitting from behind, but in the last 5 years players are not protecting themselves properly because of this rule, increasing injuries.

    That's stupid.

You can only be hit from behind if you have the puck(otherwise, it's interference). If you have the puck, then you ARE facing the play.. The play is the puck. If you turn around with the puck, you are still facing the play.

  7. This sort of iritates me. A lot of these leagues are full of guys who need that job to pay their bills. The NHLers come in and they are out of work until the NHLers go back to their real job. I know I would hate it if that happened to me.

those under contract in the euro leagues will probably still get paid and practise with the team, even if there's an influx of 2-3 NHLers...

  8. The last rookie to score 80 points was Evgeni Malkin in 2006-2007 with 85 points. Next is Ovechkin and Crosby with their 100 point seasons. That's it in the last 15 years. Hell, the only 70 point players aside from who I mentioned were Patrick Kane, Paul Stastny and Dany Heatley.

50 points is considered a top rookie year and has been for quite some time now. Let the idiots have ridiculous expectations because they still think scoring is the way it was in the mid 90s.

Ryder had 65 :o and didnt even win Calder.

  9. Wouldn't be the first time.

Montreal traded a conditional thingy for the rights to Mats Sundin. When the negotiations fell thru(thus the conditional trade was null), Montreal STILL gave Toronto Grabovski...

  10. A smart GM will try to get the highest value out of a trade, as the saying goes, the winner of a trade is the team that gets the better player.

Which we won't know until that 2nd rounder either plays for us or is flipped to another team for another player. We'll see exactly what happens by 2016 with this trade.

Either way, we got a guy who produced at a very similar rate to Cammalleri over the past couple seasons, is $3M cheaper, bigger, and a 2nd rounder. AT LEAST we got a roster player and a draft pick. We got more in return for Cammalleri than we did for Halak. The only difference is that Cammalleri is a proven impact player. He will most probably play much better in Calgary alongside Iginla and Jokinen, but so what.

The ONLY thing I don't like about this trade was that it was made DURING a game. WTf kind of joke is that? Do it before, do it after, not during for ######s sake.
