if the coach aint yelling at the players especially the star players, he aint being a good coach.

probably has something to do with danny kristo partying it up./
nonetheless im kinda disappointed

Lecavalier signed for pretty much the league maximum after the 1st lockout... i dont think he will settle for $4M...
-
What happens after next season? The cap will be $64.3M, but it'll probably go back to up $68-70M(if the revenue for next season goes back to what it was before this short season) for 2014/2015 season right? and thats when Markov/Gionta contract are up, there should be plenty of cap space, no?

See the way the Blackhawks are getting crushed by the Bruins? That's us, but without Toews Kane and Hossa in two years. Losing - it's easy, and we're gonna love it!
You posted that just minutes before the Hawks won the cup... and were still leading the series anyways.
Im not too sure where in that series you saw the hawks getting crushed by the bruins..

The Toronto war room issued a blog update that they reviewed and okay end the goal. They make all those calls.
By the way, even Cherry thought we were screwed over on the faceoff...
link? because i specifically heard Bob Cole say something like "Looks like they're aren't sending this to Toronto" on the cbc feed
-
I thought all decisions went to the war room. Bob Cole was probably thinking of 1985...
only those that are deemed too close to call. apparently this wasnt close.
-
Im Pretty sure Bob Cole mentioned they didnt even bother going to Toronto in the game. It was called by the video judge in the Ottawa building.

dont think hes going to accept less than his last contract at 3.5/per
-
Better not to play him. After waiting to sign that contract its better for him to come back at 100% as to not under-perform for his teammates or get the media all in his face.
cant actually get into 100% game shape without actually getting into games.

http://www.habseyesontheprize.com/2013/1/21/3884474/p-k-subban-vs-his-peers-habs-montreal-canadiens
so we have an elite defensemen acording to all the statistical analysis in the world. im not going to pretend i understand the math behind all this, but I can read words with the best of them, and according to the author of this article, Subban is a top-15 overall defensemen.
pay him and sign him like one MB.

Players should be penalized for turning their back to the play intentionally to avoid being hit OR they should modify the hitting from behind rule so it's not illegal to hit someone who can be facing the play, but chooses to not be to avoid being hit. Players need to stop abusing this rule to gain an advantage. I understand the safety issue with hitting from behind, but in the last 5 years players are not protecting themselves properly because of this rule, increasing injuries.
That's stupid.
You can only be hit from behind if you have the puck(otherwise, it's interference). If you have the puck, then you ARE facing the play.. The play is the puck. If you turn around with the puck, you are still facing the play.

This sort of iritates me. A lot of these leagues are full of guys who need that job to pay their bills. The NHLers come in and they are out of work until the NHLers go back to their real job. I know I would hate it if that happened to me.
those under contract in the euro leagues will probably still get paid and practise with the team, even if there's an influx of 2-3 NHLers...
-
The right thing to do, in my opinion, is to pay him what his performance thus far has warranted: about $4 mil, 2-year deal.
so $4.5M-$5M per? He is a number 1 D
-
Why lowball, i totally disagree?
Price took $2.75 for 2 years, why would the exact same offer be a lowball, a #1 goalie is a bit more important than a d-man isnt he and Cary wasnt bitching about being underpaid?
price did sign that contract about a few days before training camp
-
if he lives in Gatineau would he pay Ontario or Quebec taxes?
you pay taxes based on where you earn your living.
-
but it counts as a year tho...
-
its kinda weird though, why would they sign him now if hes going to play in the OHL next season definitely? Why not just sign him next offseason?
-
The last rookie to score 80 points was Evgeni Malkin in 2006-2007 with 85 points. Next is Ovechkin and Crosby with their 100 point seasons. That's it in the last 15 years. Hell, the only 70 point players aside from who I mentioned were Patrick Kane, Paul Stastny and Dany Heatley.
50 points is considered a top rookie year and has been for quite some time now. Let the idiots have ridiculous expectations because they still think scoring is the way it was in the mid 90s.
Ryder had 65 and didnt even win Calder.

Wouldn't be the first time.
Montreal traded a conditional thingy for the rights to Mats Sundin. When the negotiations fell thru(thus the conditional trade was null), Montreal STILL gave Toronto Grabovski...

staubitz is a third liner?

Pierre effing Dagenais.

gaustad + 4th is traded for a first rounder..
am I the only one thinking that kostitsyn > gaustad?
-
A smart GM will try to get the highest value out of a trade, as the saying goes, the winner of a trade is the team that gets the better player.
Which we won't know until that 2nd rounder either plays for us or is flipped to another team for another player. We'll see exactly what happens by 2016 with this trade.
Either way, we got a guy who produced at a very similar rate to Cammalleri over the past couple seasons, is $3M cheaper, bigger, and a 2nd rounder. AT LEAST we got a roster player and a draft pick. We got more in return for Cammalleri than we did for Halak. The only difference is that Cammalleri is a proven impact player. He will most probably play much better in Calgary alongside Iginla and Jokinen, but so what.
The ONLY thing I don't like about this trade was that it was made DURING a game. WTf kind of joke is that? Do it before, do it after, not during for ######s sake.
Is it time to trade Markov?

cant even compare golf to hockey. Tiger Woods game didn`t decline because he was getting old, else Phil Mickelson or Jack Niklaus wouldn't be competitive at their respective ages.
/sarcasm golf isnt even a sport, its a game.
but i digress, Markov should be traded.
