  1. umm, why are we talking aboot ths? I have yet to see PK do anything that was disrespectfull. Oh, its because Cherry said so after the Pens game where PK went over to Crosby after Crosby cheap shotted PK from behind and PK went over to Crosby and said something like "I'll see ya later". It was awesome later in that game when PK came out of nowhere and smoked Crosby behind the Pens net. Richards whinning aboot PK is funny.Does anybody really think that if a 6-2 210+ lbs Habs had have been pushing Briere around and if Richards was within 10 feet of it that Richards wouldnt have come to Brieres rescue? All PK did was go to help out AK. AK wouldnt have stood much of a chance against Richards and Richards damn well knows that. Typically bully mentality really. Richards doesnt want a real fight with somebody who can fight back. Damn that PK for ruining Richards from beating up a pacifist. Learn some respect PK.
  2. I'm not convinced the Habs being down is a bad thing. They seem to be able to pull off the comeback, most of the time at least so far. I was definitely bummed on that 1 play by Eller, but not from anything Eller did, just they didnt score. Eller stealing that back door pass away from Kovalchuck was a great play which started a good sequence, its a shame nothing came of it the other way though. Eller looked great on that shift it would have been nice for him to get rewarded with a point.
  3. Not sure abot that. I dont think that is a fair statement. Why must the reason for his improved play be because its a contract year? In retrospect I am wondering if the Habs should have ever drafted Sergei? This year AK isnt being constantly distracted by his lil brothers antics. Either way its hard to deny AK is playing alot better this year. Theres definitely other factors for AK other than that it is a contract year for him, like no longer having to baby sit his lil bro. AK can now focus on hockey.
  4. Not sure, but I did see Eller make 1 really bad play. Eller had the puck in the Sens end and there were 2 Sens blocking any shot but he took a shot anyway, which was of course blocked. PK was able to get to the puck 1st so it wasnt a turnover, but had the Sens got the puck 1st it would have been a 2 on 1 or even a 2 on none in Prices direction.
  5. I'd try Darche for sure. He's been getting a lot of chances tonight so why not if the reg PP cant get anything going.
  6. Its a hard loss to swallow. The Habs totally should have won that game, even though they were grossly outshot. I wouldnt be to down on PK. That wasnt much of a slash. If a penalty should have been called on that play Hedman should hsave got it. Was I the only 1 who noticed Hedman was shaking the wrong hand in pain? Theres no way PK's stick made contact with Hedmans left hand, which is the hand he shakes in phantom pain. Gill being hooked was what did the Habs in right as he was bringing the puck out of the Habs zone. Ironically even though theres lots of highlights of that game neither are show on the highlights at NHL.com.
  7. wow eh, thats quite the article Jack Todd wrote. From that article I can only imagine that if the Habs had have beat the Flyers and then beat the Blackhawks in 5 games to win the Cup he'd be bitching that the Habs didnt sweep them. Apparently he needs some of what Wisniewski was doing.
  8. I definitely agree that is was a cheap blindside attempt at a diliberate headshot. The only point I disagree with you on is the no way of seeing the hit comming. Luckily I beleive thats not true. Cammy must have seen him at the last second, and raised his shoulder up for the impact and turned away from it. Had Cammy not done that Cammy wouldnt have been suspeneded at all, more like carried away on a stretcher. Its sad that last years leading playoff scorer could have knocked out of this season during a preseason game by a complete nobody and then he ends up getting suspeneded. Replace Cammy with Gretzky and the end result would be completely different. No clue why some are suggesting Cammy has a lack of discipline. Cammy gets the least amount of penalties than anybody on the team for the amount games he played.
  9. Yep, for sure. Not sure why some are talking aboot moore though. I dont think Halpern was signed to replace Moore, he's Metro's replacement. Metro's playoff stats 30 gp, 1 G, 4 A -8 Halpern's playoff stats 30 gp, 6 G, 6 A -5 He's no superstar, but his playoff stats are definitely way better than Metro, and he's 2 yrs younger. Plus he is 250K cheaper than Patches.
  10. Technically he's a Finn, he just plays in Russia. This deal does seem to be a backward or lateral move at best for next seaon but I think thy were looking beyond that on this trade. Theres lots of Finn Goalies who develop into stars now, so they must see something in Ramo they like that could potentially pan out out long term. Maybe they think he could be the next Kipper.
  11. Umm yep, I have a fairly good idea on why not. Have you ever heard Biron talk aboot the Habs in interviews? He loathes the Habs and he's not exactly shy aboot it from what I've seen in several interviews. Biron is an old school hardcore Nordiques fan. tbh if Biron made any comments at all I bet he was doing it just to be a shit disturber like Avery. Biron totally knows that by saying there was "no offer at all" it will start a controversy amung the francophones that doesnt exist because Biron would never acept anyway. Biron has literally cheered against the Habs his whole life.
  12. Thats so reminiscent of the time I saw Quinn on TSN defending his critics that he doesnt like young players by saying he went with the young guys when he won WJ Gold. I bet if Quinn could have taken 30 yr old vets he would have. Its not like either had much of a choice so its not like it shows they like rookies. btw Pyatt is 27, its not like he's young. It is a concern. I've been saying for years that most of the top clubs now are getting their pics into the NHL within 2 years. i.e. maybe 1 year of AHL, a lot jump straight into NHL. It might not be a problem though, what young guys? Most of Timmins picks go to NCAA for 4 years, I doubt JM will be around long enough for this to become a big problem. I expect to see PB sign a bunch of cheap under appreciated 3rd n 4th liners anyway. Not sure why people dont like OB, I think he could be decent, he's a lot better than Komi was at his age, and OB will do more than just push people. I'm pretty sure the Habs won more playoff games with OB in than with him out. I doubt that would be the case if he sucked. When Markov went down and MAB started filling a lot of his minutes I called for Weber, which would have been a better defensive option, who can also score from the point. After all Weber does have 1 playoff goal already. Maybe thre was waiver probs, but I doubt it. I wonder if Weber was ever considered, he was definitely an option IMO. I do tend to agree that JM probably does favour vets, but if PB can sign the right journeyman vets to cheap contracts its not going to matter. I imagine that any potential influx of Dogs to the Habs has been put on hold by Yzerman Yzermanning Boucher. btw, I remember that fight, but also forget against who but OB did fight a fairly big guy, I'm sure he was OB size or bigger and OB totally won. It did go back and forth of course, and buddy landed some good shots but OB took em and then dished out even better 1's. It was a great fight. Several games later Habs played Bos and OB was semi going after Chara.
  13. Not shocked. Everybody beleives the hype. Timmins roxors, the Habs made the 3rd round, so Timmins must be awesome. The fact that theres only 2 guys from that list on the Habs that made a significant impact is what? a moot point? Oh the Dogs, the Dogs. They went to the Caler Cup again. Horray Timmins. Not only did Timmins have little to do with the Habs playoff success, his picks werent eve the ones responsible for the Dog success either. Timmins picked only 4 guys in the Dogs top 10 players, and thats great? Figure it out!! No I didnt even look, why would I? I dont need to look to know that Timmins isnt at par with the Wings. Keep dreaming. Stats can prove anything, espescially Timmins greatness. Want the stats on the money difference between the Habs picks and the Wings? # of 5 mil guys Timmins has drafted Plex, the Wings Still think Habs are even with Wings, look up playoff rounds won. Sure, we're even the Wings, keep beleiving that. What a joke.
  14. No really, Baseless is saying I'm so far off its ridiculous and I should be prepared to back it up with fact and logic then posting proof which backs me up. Theres his track recod. Look at it, its far from great EH. 3-4 guys every year? Get real. Timmins may be the best at drafting players who play for other teams, but I dont giver a rats ass aboot that and am not giving him bonus points for getting other teams players. They need to play for the Habs, thats who he's drfting for. The majority of that list didnt work and and were shipped off. Horray for Timmins? Are you for real? Theres 6 guys in that list that worked out so good they are already gone and I bet theres still 2-3 more of them to be let go. Timmins sure knows how to fill the Habs needs. Timmins track record clearly prooves that. Seriously in the last 5 years I see 3 guys who will play for the Habs next year. Thats the truth. No clue what the hell you see in that list to think thats he's awesome at drafting. That list shows me the exact opposite of what your claiming and totally backs up what I said. Lilke I said, shorter drafts, there'll be no more Halaks, Streits, S Kosts either. So it'll be 2 years since the 08 draft and the Habs arent any closer to having any of them crack the roster next year, or the year after that. 3 Cheers for off to college for 4 years NCAA guys. Lets increase the 0 of therm that have worked out by upping the 50% of picks used on them to 75% or 100%. Thats sure to work out.
  15. I completely agree with bar and I'd even take it a step further. Personally I would love to see the Habs draft BFA. i.e. best farmboy availabale. I'd target the biggest fastest most skilled farmboys that are from silly small places in northern Canada. Why? cuz its the answer to almost all of the Habs current problems. Habs curent probs: 2 of their top players are 2 of the smallest in the NHL. Some of the larger Habs arent tough enough for their size (Laps, Pouliot, etc), a lot of the time quite a few Habs seem to have a laziness issue, some are primadonna like. farmboy pros: tend to be larger (more muscular) than city boys of similar size, and in way better shape, a lot tougher, theyre up at the crack of dawn every day doing real hard labour, and they are generally level headed humble people. I doubt you'll find any metro sexual primadonna farmboys at the draft. Introduce several large hard working farmboys to the Habs and other teams will surely have a diffreent perspective of the Habs. People who say size doesnt matter are silly. What was said regarding small players and the new CBA is completely true. Small players can be more successfull now than before. However, what is true is that entire teams of small guys is still a big problem come playoff time, and the deeper into the playoffs the bigger a problem it becomes. Dont be fooled. Also the people who think size isnt an issue dont forget that in battles for pucks etc, the larger guy is supposed to win which ultimately comes down to larger guys can generally get away with more shit. i.e. picture Cammy in the corner going for a loose puck with Pronger near. Cammy gets the puck 1st, but Pronger sends Cammy flying on his ass, no penalty cuz Pronger is just bigger, he's supposed to win that battle. When a larger player man handles 1 f the smaller Habs its generally not a penalty because its expected that the larger guy will win.
  16. Son of a: Clearly above league avg? Thats a joke right? The Habs will remain clearly above the league avg in and around the 7-10 spot in the standings too. PB is way to quick to accept mediocrity. Sorry but I want 1 of the best, and at this point you should all be realizing what I've been saying for over a year now that Tinnins isnt 1 of the best. Timmins is an idiot. Balls, is PB an idiot too? Really makes me wonder. Theres absolutely no excuse for blowing so many high picks. It doesnt matter if some pics in later rounds turn out to be above avg players. All you are doing is keeping up with the Jones who arent stupid enough to waste their top pics. Advantage 0. PB is right it does amount to the saame thing, in something where you want to be further ahead of the game, not keep pace with your peers. The Habs need to be successful at both. Sure not in every draft, but c'mon. Spending over 50% of your pics on guys who are off to college for 4 years is brain dead. Did you see the Habs roster this year? Not 1 bloody NCAA alumni on it . Not 1!! Note: I'm talking NCAA pics the Habs actually drafted, Cammy doesnt make NCAA pics good, ask LA who had him for 2 seasons. I'll be surprised to see 1 next year too, and i bet that jack-hole wastes another 3-4 pics on em. To what end? Its really been such a huge success so far so why stop now? :puke: Dont even bother saying Patches or OB are NCAA, theyre not. Sure they played in NCAA, but when a roster spot opened up they left NCAA ASAP. They were only in the NCAA so they didnt have to play in the ECHL. All those other guys are actually off to college and wouldnt come until they are finished 4 year programs = complete waste of time. Timmins might have got lucky in some late rounds, unfortunately most of those rounds no longer exist so you probably shouldnt be holding your breath. The vid scouting may seem odd, but Buff switched to that last year or the year before. Buff is in the higher echelon of drafting. Also on a different video note Adam Deadmarsh helped get the Avs into the playoffs.
  17. Yep, you are right. For some reason I thought that was in the 2nd rnd for some silly reason., but that would be impossible in the old 4 div NHL. Also that 87 loss to Philly in no way had the same effect because the previous year the Habs won the Cup. For me that loss was just a quick realization that the Habs couldnt win every year. Was 87 the year of the brawl? or was that 85? It is kinda funny, depending on how you measure success the Flyers are 1 of the more successfull clubs. The Flyers do make it to the Cup fairly frequently compared to most clubs, they just never seem to win when they do.
  18. The Habs apparently have a deep history of that. They've been loosing to the Cup winners since at least 94. tbh, I've been thinking aboot it, and originally I agreed with all the Hawks will sweep em side, but I think I've pancaked. I think Philly does stand a snowballs chance in hell. Dont forget Philly beat Habs, Bos, NJ. They sort of got a pass on the Habs. Also dont forget their coach. I see the CheezaFlyers comming. Laviolette had no reason to get his Flyers doing the Cheezicanne thing, but against the Hawks I bet we will see it. Byfuglien wont be scoring on any rebounds when Pronger has him pinned on the ice blocking Toews shot.
  19. I'm still in shock. I dont remember seeing the Habs get this far and not make it to the Cup. Hell I can only remember them gettng this before and not winning the Cup only once (89 Flames). I thought the hockey Gods were on our side, nobody esle was. That really pissed me off. Was it just me or were none of the other hockey fans cheering for the Habs? I rarely saw any Habs flags and when I did they were Habs fans like us. In years past I saw way more Oilers flags, Flames, Sens, Canucks. I'd even say that I've probably seen more Wings and Hawks flags this year. I thought for sure this was our year. When PK was bleeding I couldnt have been more sure. When I go to watch game 6 tonight reality will set in. I'd quote Wamsley's 1 post but I'm not sure what page it was on and cant be arsed looking for it. I definitely agree with what Wamsley said aboot respect. The Flyers did respect the Habs, and the Caps n Pens didnt give the Habs enough respect. However I also stongly beleive the opposite was more of a deciding factor. i.e. the Habs respected the Caps n Pens but not for the Flyers. Its sad, the Habs should have beat the FLyers. I agree that JM should go, his MO for the FLyers was useless. The Habs had 0 respect for the Flyers and got their asses handed to them in 3 of the games. JM knows to get his team to shut down the other teams all star forwrds thats for sure. Only problem is that when the other team doesnt have any all star forwards he doesnt seem to be smart enough to get his team to shut down the other teams hottest players. :puke: Ya, Phillies Frenchies warranted special coverage that just never came. Thats what pisses me off, Philly didnt beat us, French players did. i.e. Briere, Gagner, Griroux All 3 were hot comming into this series and JM let them run roughshad over the Habs. I can say with absolute certainty that Laviolette made his Flyers very aware of who Cammy and Gio are.
  20. Balls, you beat me to it. It might sound crazy, but I'd do it, and not because it is easy, but because it is hard. I'm sick to death of hearing we cant win without Markov. :puke: Heres a stat for ya: Here is the Habs record with Markov: 0 without: 24 I'm still in shock over the loss, so my mind will probably change but right now I blame Markov. wtf did he put himself in a awkward and vulnerable position with Cooke right there? I've never seen Cooke make a dirty hit with intent to injure before, have you? Markov is to invaluable to the Habs. and it is true, but the loss of him is too huge and to frequent lately that I strongly think the cash would better be spent elsewhere. More like whoever we get in a trade would be younger, better and way more cost effective. Still saying no? Ok then, now think of this: the exact same things could be said aboot Koivu. I swear this years collapse was caused by the news of Markovs surgery. i.e. they kept playing for Markov to return, but the news he wasnt returning I strongly beleive killed a lot of their spirit. I think this is especially true in the Habs who have been around a few years for previous "oh no Markovs out we cant possibly win now" collapes.
  21. Crazy, Stevie Y the new Bolts GM: http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Hockey/NHL/Tampa...5/14080191.html
  22. Exactly! Keep the faith!! stay tuned for Les Glorieux!! The Habs secodnary scorers are aboot to step up. Cammy and Gio cant do it all and the Habs know that. It wouldnt hurt to put Gill and OB in front of their net Its just way to easy for Lieghton to see over the short Habs forwards shoulders, and alot of the times they are semi bent over in fron of Leighton, he's having no problems seeing the puck.
  23. balls Pouliot. I swear he could have scored in that 1 sequence, only thing is Pouliot skated off for a line change. He would have been wide open in the slot with Gomez behing the net with the puck.
  24. HabsWEST thats why I still have faith. Th Habs have their backs against the wall and will be like having a wounded animal cornered. The Habs will go back to fire wagon hockey, all out back n forth full out hockey. The Habs are too fast and skilled for the Flyers to keep up. Think aboot this: the Habs have been clutch all bloody year long. Whenever they dropped from 8th in the standing they would win and remain in playoff contention. The Habs never really slipped very far from 8th all year no matter the circumstances. They've been winning when they absolutely have to all year. A 16-12 record is right up the Habs alley. Go :hlogo: Go!!!
  25. The age old story of the Tortoise and the Habs resumes in T minus 1 hour. Tonight is going to be a game and a half, possibly 2. Get your defibrillators ready. We're going to need em but when its all said and done the Habs will win in OT and it will be a psychologically crushing defeat for the Flyers. The TSN turning point of this series happens tonight. Keep the Faith!!
