2nd rounders and 2nd line players are not what you have to package together in any circumstance to acquire the Laine's and the Connor's of this world. It has to be 1st rounders and top 5 organizational prospects, anything less and you are just getting hung up on.
For a Connor or a Laine, you have to be prepared to offer Drouin or Gallagher, a 1st round pick, and Romanov. There is no conversation on either front without a serious proposal of the sort. If you are willing or not to make that kind of offer, determines whether you would or wouldn't acquire those types of players.

From what I’ve seen of Caufield, his hands, shot and hockey smart are probably better than courtnall.

this might seem Weak as a comment but Courtnal's speed (to me) was that much more effective bcuz of when he turned on the jets. If Caufield can bring the high IQ hockey into NHL and do the power skating thing these guys do. I think he will a ok. but you follow these kids more then I do, so I do love and enjoy your assessments on the young guns and not so guns

I thought it would be more for Laine as he is a top scoring threat in the league. I didn't know Drouin didn't count as a top line player in the league, sure he didn't have a great season last year but it wasn't bad, right? He still young and seems willing and able to get his game at another level. I like Drouin, I just think sometimes he sits on his hands and forgets to skate into the corner 1st, kinda like Laine come to think of it.

I still don't think MB should even think of trading Romanov, LD side is Way too Weak imho. Rebuild/retool whatever LD is part of the needs for it.

would that work? I would rather not give up Romanov. Being in same position next year with no "blue chip" prospect on LD seems like a major loss.

Connor I think might be a good fit too. Man can play C/W sounds good. Laine got the badman Shot but from what I saw (last year the few WIN game I saw), Connor seems to have a bit more sand paper (heart) in in his game. With whatever it might cost less, I take Connor if I can swing a deal between the 2

Sry if that came across as a 1v1 trade, I would imagine WIN would want something else with Drouin but I also think it would be less then what they would want with Drouin for Laine.
I just don't know what MB would have to give up in that trade or even if it would take a 3rd team to make it happen

I see MB more as a HR recruiter now. Not CEO of the Team on the ice. In that sense he might be able to "save" his job (and face) a couple years longer.
HR recruiter bcuz this way we can always say: "the kids are not ready."

I would Love if Markov can hit 1001 NHL games played as a Hab and then have him as an Assistant Coach in the system be it in Laval or on the Team. He would be like having BigBird Larry teaching the kids.

I have a feeling that Westbrook and Harden will run floors all over the league but one of the 2 wont be there in Houston next year. There are only so many touches they can each have in 48min of play but if they can figure it out, that inside outside threat will hurt!!!

I have stated many times I feel Drouin a fake on the ice. if he put up 60 last year (Drouin), if he had a bit more of the "attitude" MB say all the time he might have put up 80 maybe 90 and then i would STFU but he (Drouin) ain't got the the "attitude" and if you want me to prove it .... see Domi he got the "attitude" he about the same age right?
So yeah i will propose trade for Drouin well until he or gets the "attitute" or gets traded or i guess retires
