Game Thread | Canadiens de Montréal vs. Boston Bruins | 04/15/08
bigbird19 replied to KoZed's topic in Habs & Hockey Talk
Nice to see a Western Conference style win tonight. This game was much better than a 6-4 shootout. -
Not only Conference champs....but Division winners over Ottawa and Boston by 10 whopping points. We will fear no team. East nor West.

"We've had problems in our last five games," said Tremblay. "We're going to have a team meeting tomorrow. I'm not blaming anyone for this loss. I thought I could leave Patrick (Roy) in for two periods, but he didn't last that long. When Detroit got up 5-1, I thought we were still in the game." Counting chickens II: Playoff expectations!
bigbird19 replied to The Chicoutimi Cucumber's topic in Habs & Hockey Talk
I'll be happy if we win at LEAST one round. Get 10-12 games of playoff experience for the young guys. It's next year I expect a parade ( Held on the usual route, as M. Drapeau used to say ). BTW, off topic, but this is a site I've had trouble finding for a while. http://www.databasehockey.com/teams/teamsc...MON&yr=1976 Each game score of that monster year. You guys probably already knew of this site, but for anyone who hasn't, enjoy. 43 out of 80 games with at least 5 goals. 8 goals or more 11 times.... -
This week-end was defining since both Bufallo and NJ were thorns in our sides. 2 straight vs. NJ. First win this year.....Nope.....ROUT over Barfallo. Now let's hit the west coast. HARD.

Miracle in Montreal | Habs vs. Rangers | 19/02/08

OK. No apology required. Beers are good. Habs's Blitzkreig is good. Rangers sucking is good. All is good. -

Precicely ! No more 21,273 pleasant, accomadating, passive butts in the seats. This win was epic. I hope coach Guy keeps this one as a reminder for the team. 3-0 lead.........3-5 loss on Super Bowl Sunday. 0-5 deficit.......6-5 win Feb. 19. I love kick-ass revenge !! -
Gotta admit, I love your confidence. Damn the torpedos ! Take no prisoners ! Kill 'em all ! Now if we could just get those 21,273 to stop being so polite to the opposition. Anyone know how to heckle and dump beer ?
-
And have AK do his " Gordie Howe " on Neil.
-
I second that motion. Biological warfare rules !
-
But above all, beat the crap out of the Snores !!

As much as I'd love to see us win the Division or Conference, it would only bring bragging rights. 1. First place teams become " targets ". Better to go into the playoffs quietly, with little fanfare. 2. Win the Division or Conference and you rank #1 or #2. #7 or #8 could end up Jersey, Philly, NYR, or even Buffalo. 3. Home ice advantage ? Don't want it. 4. Unlike last year, we're in very little danger of missing the playoffs. I'll gladly accept 4th or 5th. Even 6th, and a rematch with JW and the Canes.

Even back in July, I beleived. Karma, baby, Karma..... Now, 3 or 4 out of 5 vs. Ottawa.....

What was I thinking back in July ? :hlogo: -
I have to agree. Don't fix what isn't broken. Having said that, I wouldn't mind Ryder for Rob Blake. straight up. Both are UFA's. The Kings won't be re-signing Blake. Habs won't re-sign MR. The Kings might be interested in keeping Ryder, since they're weak on RW. The cap hit for us would be about 700,000 .

How many points will the Habs finish the season with?
bigbird19 replied to Peter Puck's topic in Habs & Hockey Talk
2 future Hall of Famers they are not. 96 points......and a # 7 or 8 playoff spot. But a first round exit. The top 2 will be killers. -
Those are acceptable. No cartoon garbage.

Gillett : "Briere was 20 minutes away from signing with Montreal"
bigbird19 replied to Tony's topic in Habs & Hockey Talk
We don't need Briere. What we need is a team that plays better defence. Both front and back. Smolinski vs. Samsonov. Hamrlik vs. Souray. We lose 8 scoring points, but gain about 60 plus/minus. And save salary as well. -
And unlike K-Lo, we're not blowing cap space on unproven talent, with revolting $$$$$$.

Welcome back Patrice. Let's hope this is a mutual success.
