  1. This is why I have the utmost respect for Burke! With one press article he turns the negative reports on him, the ducks and his two netminders into a positive and gets the word out to other GM's that if the price is right, the ducks will trade either of the two goalies.

"No one from our organization has told either goalie they will be our No. 1 goalie, nor has anyone told them they will be traded. What I did tell each player was that since they have both established themselves as No. 1 goalies in the league, we would listen to (trade) offers on either of them, but I haven't offered either to any team, period." - Burke

  2. Great Kid, from what I hear the knights will be counting on him for the majority of the offence and scoring chances, he is a playmaking scorer! that has the makings of a star next year. Lets hope the knights compliment him with good linemates. There is some turn over this year with the team that could lead to tragic possibilities unless they reload and build around Kostitsyn.

  3. A million is not, unreasonable for a player who has one season in the NHL with pretty good numbers but was injured and did not play the full season, he has to prove that was not a fly by night operation. He will make the dollars next time once he has a proven track record.

I would hate to see them trade him; he has the look of a very skilled player but his salary demands could be an signal that he has other talents that aren't so nice.

  4. I think they had no choice, you can't make the cash without trying. By increasing tickets, the average fan to the diehard fan will pay and if those one off games are not sold out well I'm sure they would dish out ticket specials at the old rate, or slightly above.

Thing is I did not think the lockout was good for hockey, however the league has rebounded better than I thought, although initially teams reduced prices, that soon changed and teams are back to soaking the fans.

The product is what matters, if the Blues don't put out a credible team that will contend night in and night out, then the team better practice singing the BLUES cause thats the only way they will sell tickets!

  5. With the revamped, redesigned, new-NHL; I would agree that there now exists a good possibility that players from europe could enter our market via free agency. But for that to happen, teams need to pay up for players to make a life style change. Often most of these players by this point in their careers have established a name, reputation and life style. Leaving all that behind could be too costly to match.€

As well, moving across the pond is that must tougher now wth the cap system. Teams would rather bring rookie's in cheap make sure they are the real deal before giving them the now very precious dollars under their caps in the bigs!

  6. This is a big "IF" and if the big "E" stays healthy, then look out he can put up big numbers and that could translate into a big year for the Stars. He does have the ability to compliment his wingers and create space. Last season with the leafs he did do a good job, no head issues, just his wrist. Health is the key but at the price the Stars are paying for a former #1 draft pick, this could be the steal of the UFA market.

But I did say this is a big "IF"

  7. Hi all,

I'm Chips! I'm a long time reader of this forum. And now I'm a member, hoping to contribute to the absolutely best forum on the planet! I've been a long time Habs Fan, my first jersey was a "Mats Nasland #26". I've got his rookie card and I pray for the day that a habs will again score 100+ points in a season.

I think that Chipchura, will be that next habs to score 100+ Points and I'll go out on a limb and call it right now, right here, He will be the next Captain of the famed Canadiens.

    Go Habs Go!

  8. Hi mez, Welcome, "The Game" - great read.

  9. I agree, Lats does have loads to prove at the World Juniors. And his passion for the Habs will be on display in Training Camp. His aggressive play will earn him points and that will be his most attractive attribute to the fans. I do wish him the best.

  10. I choose Chipchura, IMO he is NHL-ready. And if he does not get selected after training camp, then there will be a call up during the season. His size, speed, confidence and leadership will not go unnoticed.

p.s. ATHLÉTIQUE.CANADIEN I tried to post my very first topic on Perezhogin but you beat me to it. I guess I need to be quicker, long time reader and fan of this Forum! This is my first reply! Go Habs Go!

  11. TSN is reporting today that Perezhogin signed a one year deal with the Habs. Worth 627K down from the 710K he made last year.

That will leave only one more to join in the fun next season, we have the cap space for Ryder at 2.5Mil; Is that the plan? Or does he want more?
