  1. I quickly googled the masking your DNS idea I meantioned... Aaaaand this thread was the second result. So not a popular topic, apparently. But I think you should be able to do it. (Think Firefox/Chrome plugin?)
  2. I'm in Australia so GameCenter Live is money in the bank for me. But I wonder if you could mask your DNS to pretend to be in antarctica or w/e and watch whatever game you want. You know, like people do with Netflix? Could be worth it considering GCL is only $100 for the entire season and playoffs with the DVR feature.
  3. Conversation that happened last year: Satan: "yo, bergevin, make you a deal: your soul for the president's trophy this year." MB: "man, my soul is a big price to pay. how about a contract to play for Hamilton?" Satan: "well i'll take a two way AHL contract and a guarantee to play start half the bulldogs games. but you'll have to settle for 3rd in the east, no president's trophy." MB: "make it 2nd in the conference and winning our division." Satan: "well of course you'll win the division if you end up 2nd in the conference lol who is this guy? fine it's a deal." MB: "jeez, i just want to make sure, you don't have to be so mean about it, Satan. you're such a dick sometimes."
  4. just wait till he gets some veteran presents oh wow he's ganna be amazing !!
  5. Maybe that knee is the reason we have Galchenyuk!
  6. +1. Markov's knee (as a metaphor for Markov's health.) The D is the weak point on this team. I Markov goes down, the loss of a few PP efficiency points and the effective promotion of the 5 defensemen under him in the depth chart would combine to have a huge effect on the performance of this team. If Subban and Markov stay healthy all season, there's no chance this team misses the playoffs (unless they lose something like 4 or 5 top 9 forwards, of which there are 10.)
  7. We almost certainly do not. Almost is the key, there. The sky is the limit and no one knows how good or how not good he will end up being. Fun to watch for a fan.
  8. Keep up the good work, Commander. I follow you on twitter and read LWOS articles fairly often.
  9. Haha I went to update it and was like "wha... classic Brian." I think it's Anaheim.
  10. If Murray knocks the snot out of Lucic just once, he's earned his salary in my books.
  11. Not a waste in the sense that they can give him a shot, and as CC calls it, he's a 100% patch-job. There's obviously hope he can be a bit more, but if he adequately holds the fort until Emelin comes back, then the signing is a success. If he's absolutely putrid, waive him and send him down. His 1.5 mil salary is hardly prohibitive. A much better move than MB sitting on his hands doing nothing (which we mostly would have indicted him for if the defence was weak to start the year.)
  12. This was inevitable: Here's the whole damn list by old divisions (cuz my brain hasn't switched over yet): Montreal (obviously) Ottawa Toronto Buffalo Boston NY Islanders NY Rangers New Jersey Philadelphia Pittsburgh Washington Carolina Tampa Bay Florida Winnipeg Vancouver Edmonton Calgary Minnesota Colorado Phoenix Dallas Anaheim Los Angeles San Jose Chicago Nashville St. Louis Columbus Detroit We've been taking stabs in the dark since the beginning. Great question, Brian.
  13. Homegrown player with literally nothing wrong. Not even his contract. Why do fans want to trade Plekanec? If he is traded, it better be for an almost-as-flawless sure thing. I hope he sticks around.
  14. I gotta say, I really like the way MB is going about adding depth at both forward and defence. The chance that the team will not be affected by injury is slim to none. Bergevin is making sure this team can withstand injuries by having NHL experienced players at the bottom of the lineup, ready to fill in. Much of this depth is disposable in the sense that Murray or Bouillon can be waived if they're underwhelming or are overtaken by a rookie like Tinordi. At the price, there's really nothing to complain about. This is a contending team depth move. If this was a year or two ago, we would be debating if Murray was the #4 or #5 defenceman. Now, we're pretty unanimously saying he's a fill in/injury replacement. Our fan mentality is evolving, guys! (100% agree about the HIO/EOTP comments. HW is my first choice as well.) Now I'm ready for October!
  15. Florida? If not, it's gotta be a not-too-old Western Conference team who are usually bad. Columbus?
  16. In a no cap system, it would be difficult, but I'd imagine an expansion team during the salary cap era would be able to throw big money at free agents. This in no way guarantees competitiveness as we know, but if managed well (big-money, short term contracts) they could grab a few decent FAs while they toil at the bottom of the standings for a few years and amass talent while keeping enough flexibility to build a core then build around that core intelligently. Definitely a 5-year build plan, if not more. But immediate competitiveness would be difficult I would think. They'd need to grab as many underrated players as possible in the expansion draft, grab a handful of reliable free agents and have a few break out years from their roster. Not to mention have a decent coach. I think that could result in a playoff appearance in a first year. Would be super cool to see it happen (aherm, new Markham/Quebec/etc teams coming soon.)
  17. I love watching Markov play. He is a subtle but brilliant player. Agree with Trizz that he should retire as a Hab.
  18. I think if he delivers 50 points each year he will be one of the most valuable pieces on the team. Watching him play, you can see scoring isn't even the strongest part of his game, and depends a lot on who he is playing with. IMO Eller is a puck-possession beast and strong two-way player who covers a ton of ice with his size, speed and reach. Let him continue to improve, and he could be a Patrice Bergeron-type defensive forward, who has the ability to put up 50-70 points per year. That's an incredible player. Which makes you look at the centre position for the Habs in the coming years, with the three top centres being Plekanec, Eller and Galchenyuk (not necessarily in that order). There is size and skill in abundance there, and not all three are on the same spot in their development curve (which seems like the Oilers are realizing is a pretty big detriment.) Regardless of wingers, whether they're too small, too slow or whatever, if they're viable top 6 or top 9 wingers (which are easier to find than top 6 pr top 9 centres), you should be able to get some pretty good production from them. The future looks good. I am so grateful I am not a Maple Leafs fan. Holy crap.
  19. http://www.montrealgazette.com/sports/hockey/montreal-canadiens/healthy+Eller+itching+back/8747943/story.html Oh boy, I'm pretty pumped to see him play this season. Weight helps to a certain point, then it becomes a detriment. Curious to see if Eller found the peak efficiency point. (If he's too heavy, losing a bit of weight is easier than gaining.) Also, this guy is 6'2 and 210 lbs according to Crossfit.com (for comparison's sake):
