  1. After my  Go Leafs Go over the Bruins, here is another very unpopular opinion of mine.

Out of these two options, which one would you pick ?

    A)  Habs win the Cup in 2028. Until then, Oilers, Jets and Canucks all win a Cup as well.

    B)  Habs win the Cup in 2028. In the meantime, any USA based teams win all the Cups until 2028.

    I pick  A)  all day.

  2. I'm 40 yo.   I've never seen the Leafs have any success, I've never been upset at the Leafs for beating us.

I will never understand the hate until they elimintate us.   This is why I want them to clear Boston.  Once this is done,  they can get beaten by anyone else, but I don't want the Bruins anywhere near another Stanley Cup.

I'm not necessarily opposed to the idea of an extension (especially if Barron winds up being traded) but three years gives me pause.  I get the lower AAV is thanks to the longer term but that third year is a big red flag.  If they were to pursue an extension, I think they'd be capping the offer at two seasons.

The 2nd year is already a (light) red flag for me.

I thought about the same thing, I am still thinking. I think it might have something to do with  a team outside the top ten winning the lottery and can only move up 10 spots. So let's say they move from 12 to 2 and then the Habs win the 2 slot lottery but that is already taken so they move to 3 instead???  Maybe

    thanks

Well, on May 6th or 7th will find out what spot.

Jets vs Aves, i think it is, assume Aves will be favored?

    Fifth Overall: 24.5 percent

I don't get where this 0.3% comes from for 3rd overall...  Anyone ?

    What a dog’s breakfast on defence 💩

Habs are certainly looking MUCH better on defence now.

We won the division and finished 2nd in the East, 4th overall in the league that year.  Beat the Bruins in round 1 and got eliminated by Philly (and R.J. Umberger) in 5 games in round 2.

It'd be nice but it'd also use one of the allowable two lottery advancement slots.  Teams are only allowed to move up I think twice in a five-year period now; would Montreal want one of them to happen without moving into the top two?  Considering the jump, I think they would but it's a factor to consider.

It's a little dissapointing that the two lottery advancement slots are not limited to your own pick.

I'd say that Hughes hasn't drafted BPA yet  - thank god.  Wright was supposed to go #1.  Hughes isn't likely to start drafting BPA unless the Habs win the 1st overall pick.

The "supposed" BPA  is maybe not the same one as Hughes and his crew have on their list.

  9. Read something about Slaf this weekend.

He'd have worked closely with Glen Tucker,  aka Dr. Shot.

Tucker is known from working with such names as  Pastrnak, Bergeron, Eichel, etc.

Article said that Pasta didn' have that good of a shot/release when he started in the NHL.  Just like Slaf it seems.

Something worth noting is that Allen admitted today that he vetoed a trade to New Jersey earlier in the season, citing concern about having enough playing time with them.

Legit concerns earlier this season as they were supposed to go with  Vanecek (somewhat proven, Jake Allen caliber) and  Akira Schmid who had taken over the #1 role during last year's playoffs (à la Adin Hill).

Both have been very dissapointing this season though with under .900 sv%.  Nico Daws as well.

Maybe I'm alone on this, but for me,  the Devils are clear cut #1 bust this season around the league.   Of course they lost Hamilton after only 20 games and Jack Hughes as well as Hischier both missed time too, but  24th overall ?!?!    I had them contending for the Metro before season started.

I was thinking ylonen or evans or norlinder but ill take this.  Perreault is younger and did more at the AHL level.  Not sure hes NHL quality but think hes better than Mysak.

I seem to remember that you had Mysak as a fringe 1st rounder at the time and that you were excited about this pick.   Sucks that it didn't pan out. :(

Who do we have equivalent to Walker?

Nothing straight up, but since it's  Walker + 5th  for  Johansen + 1st,  maybe the Avs would have settled for  Savard + 3rd/late 2nd  instead.

But I guess, they'd probably be more interested in the dman they get than the value in the pick along with him.
