  1. Name me a 22 year old that is good at faceoffs. It's something you learn at the highest level. There's a reason grizzled vets like Brind'Amour are always at the top of that category and young guys aren't even close. I don't get this obsession with faceoff % with Chips. It's something you've got to accept isn't going to be high at this point in his career but as long as you see improvement it's something to build off of.

excellent point. I think he is improving....

  2. I'm really glad Carbo's been extended. I remember having a really hard time with a lot of his decisions in his first year as coach, but last year he really impressed me with his flexibility and learning on the job. He's just become a really good coach.

As for Kovy, Koivu, and Tanguay, I would wait 10-15 games into the season before trying to answer which two to sign, or whether we sign all three or what to do... Obviously we don't want to wait too long on negotiating, but let's see how things go first. I feel like Koivu is the heart and soul of this team though, so I really really don't want to see him leave. I'd like to see him retire as a habs if possible.

  3. I'm not sure, but I think you may need to wait until the regular season starts up before you can access the features at any time.

I see. thanks for the clarification. I'll try to access during the next exhibition game just to make sure it's at least working during games...

  4. I love hockey so much I decided to become a sportscaster. Then when I realized I had to deal with idiots I left the business. Now I create one of a kind sports room for both children & adults. Visit my work online at www.cherryhilldesign.ca

The most unique, one of a kind rooms in the country.

Ummm... spamming going on here I think?? Mods?

  5. You might want to consider it though because they also have Canadiens Express, which is a condensed version of the game that you can watch in one hour. I'll probably be watching that more often than the live games because I can't commit every time to watching 2.5 hours of TV!

Ok, so I bought the whole package, and I can sign in, but once I actually click on the "CH Express" link, nothing happens?? Shouldn't I be able to watch that even though the game's not airing live and is actually over now??

The screen just tells me when the next game is, and gives me the message "la partie achetee n'est pas encore disponible ou est terminee". Is it just too early after the game to expect the highlights to be up?

  6. Hey Guys, I'm thinking about getting the package but I was just wondering if anyone knows if once you sign up you can use it on multiple computers or not? Obviously not at the same time, but say one night I want to watch the game on my laptop and another night I want to watch it on my desktop... is it just a matter of logging in on different PC's??

also, anyone have any serious issues with it? Or is it worth it for me to go ahead and get the deal? is the resolution good??

  7. Gah! I get nightmares just thinking about that Carolina series... It was going SO well, and then it all just fell apart :puke: :puke:

Oh, well, New season. let's hope this is the year we shake off the playoff demons and make a dent past the second round...

  8. The thing -- and I've wrote about it before -- is that Koivu knows French. His wife is a Quebec girl. Mark Recchi spilled the beans a couple years ago. Koivu understands what journalists says if they talk to him in French. He's just too shy and uncomfortable to reply in French. Would it be better PR if he did: yes. Is it a necessity: no. He's been here so long, it's not gonna change anyway.

I just mentionned it to show how comfortable and playful Kovy was during his interview on a big prime-time show. The guy's a showman.

She's not a Quebec girl... I don't think? I'm almost certain she's finish and speaks French because she learned it a young age far from Quebec... Do you know otherwise??

As for Kovy, I think his speaking French on the show is more a factor of his personality - being a showman, as you state - and not of his respect for French or rather Koivu's disrespect. It's hard making all these mistakes speaking in another language... Koivu's just not that "type" who's gonna talk in a language he's not comfortable in to the general public. I think that's all there is to it.

  9. 18 players were cut today :

    Goalies:

    Cédrick Desjardins

    Loïc Lacasse

    Dmen :

    Pavel Valentenko

    Shawn Belle

    Chad Anderson

    P.K. Subban

    Forwards :

    Brock Trotter

    Ryan White

    James Wyman

    David Desharnais

    Mike Glumac

    Olivier Latendresse

    Thomas Beauregard

    Yanick Lehoux

    Mathieu Aubin

    Ryan Flinn

    Ryan Russell

    Olivier Fortier

That leaves Yannick Weber, Mathieu Carle, Ben Maxwell, Max Pacioretty, Gregory Stewart and Matt D'Agostini with the team.

    Perfect !

    and Chipchura!

  10. Unfortuanely if you look at other French message boards (ex. RDS), this is yet another proof that Koivu is an awful captain, and that Kovalev deserves to replace him. That and bacause he hung up on Marc DeFoy when he called him this summer to get his thoughts on Sundin, and because he didn't waste about 4 days to travel back and forth from Finland to play some golf...

Key word is unfortunately. When we win the Cup and Koivu's our captain, hopefully people will get over it. And if we don't, or they don't, I don't really care. The guy's a great captain, a great leader, and does a great job...

  11. Yep, thats exactly who I am talking aboot. Yanic would be a wicked face off coach and seeing how the Habs draft only Centerman a Defenseman it would probably be a smart idea to get him before Pittsburg figures it out. The Penguins have 3 young centers who arent very good at faceoffs and we dont want them vastly improving that.

I still say the year the Habs came from behind and beat Boston in 7 games was solely because of Perreault. Habs lost every game he missed and won every game he played in. Its hard to loose when you win every faceoff in your own end. They were able to ice the puck at will and would get the puck back after the faceoff every time. The new rule changes that now though.

Actually, you're right. It'd be awesome to have him here teaching the kids faceoffs...

  12. I agree with you and AC. Chips seemed to have a very good hockey sense and rarely made a bad decision but on several occasions when he did make a bad decision it lead to goals which makes people even more critical of him. Habs fans seem to love jumping on players when they make 1 mistake even though they make lots of good plays. i.e. Cube, even Souray because of the 3 goals in which we have all seen the replays of thousands of times.

Unfortunately Carbs doesnt really have the time to be a faceoff coach for Chips or any of the other young prospects, especially if they are in the AHL. However I can think of an ex habs who would and the Habs should sign him ASAP before Therien figures it out too. Honestly I still dont know why the Habs got rid of him because Bonk and Smoke werent much of an upgrade over him and cost more money. He is still unsigned and maybe Bob could convince him to hang up the skates and be a full time faceoff coach for the Habs organization at both the NHL and AHL level.

    Who??

For the record, I thought Chips did a great job last night...

  13. Kozed, I don't like Simpleplan purely because their music is no good. If they had good music, I'd cheer for them. I too would have liked another band more. could've still done a montreal band like Sam Roberts...

But I haven't heard the song, so maybe it won't be that bad...

  14. It's not that he's behind in his development. He made the team out of camp last season and probably should have stayed there. We can use him as an NHL 4th liner right now but we haven't got a spot open for him yet and he isn't that good that sending him back to the Bulldogs for a little while will hurt him. If he played poorly against Detroit, it's just a question of confidence - he must have lost it last year when he first thought he'd broken into the NHL and then played the rest of the year in Hamilton.

but don't you think sending him back to hamilton would ruin his confidence even more?

Oops... so many spelling mistakes in that quote... I need to be more careful... ;)

whatever, it's a message board and everyone knew what you meant... I actually thought that the points were all pretty articulately stated, and they weren't spelling errors CC, they were typos! Typos!

  15. Many people considered other players like Ribeiro, Ryder, Hainsey, and even Chris Higgins and Andrei Kostsitsyn as failures before they were given their first true chance in the NHL, and they all quickly proved people wrong once ther were given a permanent spot on an NHL roster. With his leadership, grit, hockey sense, strong defensive play, and underrated playmaking abilities, Chipchura has the potential to become a valuable member of any NHL team, and he deserves at least a genuine opportunity to suceeed.

    ...............

ps. By the way, Kyle Chipchura averaged exactly a point-per-game ration during his last 2 seasons in the juniors, and despite a complete lack of offensive support. He was basiaclly a playmaker with no one to pass the puck to, but he still was the offensive leader for his team on the ice, and a guy who pilled up the 3-stars nominations after the games. I think he's a heck of a lot better offensively then we give him credit for.

I have a pro-Chipchura bias, but I agree with CerebusClone...

  16. For those bringing up ex-Habs... I'll keep this simple. Would you rather have a team comprised of the current edition of the Habs, or one of all the ex-Habs floating around the professional ranks?

For the first time in a long time, the answer to that question should be unaninmous in the right direction: this current team beats the group of ex-Habs. No ifs, ands or buts.
