Am I the only one who thinks that DSP on the first line in place of Weiss might produce a winning combination? He reminds me of a bigger version of Gally. Hes got some speed a good shot and sets up infront of the net. I'm surprised/disappointed that MT hasn't tried it out yet. But I probably shouldn't be i guess....

i find it surprising that we picked up 3rd and 4th liners, I thought those positions were good already. -
Well so far I am really glad MB didn't pay any of the crazy prices out there. Although I still see him pulling off something.

Argumentative or not its the truth. And of course the owners are greedy....but they simply wouldn't have the money to throw at the players if no one gave a shit about the team. That's the reason Clarkson is a bluejacket now, They just cant afford to pay someone who isn't playing. But the leaves sure can and will because Leaf fans love the team no matter how bad they play.... for example, I live close to Welland, Ontario and frequently visit there. Horton is a Welland Boy and I guarantee I will see some misguided soul wearing a TML Horton jersey in the next year. Now you and I both know he will probably never play a game in Toronto but a Home Town Boy getting traded to your Favorite team = Jersey Sale. Come to think of it I would probably do the same thing......If Riley Sheahan was traded to the Habs under the same circumstance I would get a jersey to show my support for the guy. This might not happen in a place like Columbus...

wow a game day thread, a day before the game.....I like it!

Trade Sekac traded to Anaheim for Smith-Pelly
Davehab replied to sim.on's topic in Habs & Hockey Talk
At first glance I don't really like it, DSP is a younger version of Prust but bigger. But lets face it Jiri had his moments but wasn't going to make an impact this year in the playoffs, in future years who knows. We gave up a little bit of potential for NHL experience. And they are the same age. Not Bad...Not great either. -
I heard a rumor a couple of days ago (cant remember where) that the BJ's were looking to move some of there Defense that were under contract for next season, With the way they played last night I wouldn't mind MB taking a closer look at them for our back end. They really played a tough game last night, come playoff time we are going to need some of that aggressiveness.
-
I just hope that MB has a good look at Tinordi before he makes a move on the back end cause I think we need scoring much more than another D-man. Especially when we look at who is left available to trade for on D. IF Tinordi can prove trustworthy I don't see that much of a difference between Tinordi-Emelin and Petry-Emelin. But there is that big IF.... but if Gonchar is out longer than expected then I think Petry-Beaulieu is better than Tinordi-Beaulieu or (shudder) Gilbert-Beaulieu going into the playoffs. Makes me glad I'm not MB right now. I guess the best scenario would be to swing a forward and a defense from the oilers if thats possible. Yakupov anyone?
-
ya I agree, plus we don't really have a choice right now so lets just wait and see what happens. When Gonchar gets back then we can open this debate again, until then I just want to see JT flatten a couple of guys... its been missing from our blueline as of late. Also I think a Tinordi-Emelin pair would be really fun to watch come playoff time. Go habs GO

so much for moving emelin for a top 6 forward -
Trona would have to eat 3-4 mil on his contract
-
if we can get Yakupov for a relatively low cost then i would do it. (its worth the risk to ignite the chemistry he had with Galchenyuk) Man i just cant wait to see what McCarron and Sherbak will bring to the team in a couple of years.....

I don't mean to be a pessimistic, but i think we will lose this game. We just don't match up well against them. And aside from our top pairing our D just don't have an answer for there forwards. And what the hell is Weise doing on our top line...sigh... MT just give Sekac a game on the top line it will work. BTW, now that Thomas has played a few games with the big club I was wondering how Kristo is doing in the Rangers system. does anyone know? -
hahahahahaha

I love the nick name, it's really funny. And by the way I think he is doing a fine job. Is there a better coach in the league, ya for sure. Is there a better coach for the habs? I'm not so sure. He has a good handle on this team, the players respect him, the media like him and most importantly he works well with MB.
-
I agree with this wholeheartedly. We have all waited a long time to see our beloved team moving in the right direction, lets just enjoy it. This team is build for the playoffs, we have a team full of gamers and its gonna payoff in May.
-
Don't get me wrong I actually really like PK. I think that he is great for the team both on and off the ice. just seems like he would be a great teammate and an all round likable guy. But Patches is a leader, the kind of teammate that others look to when things get tough. A go-to kind of guy. If he has a good Post season this year he is all but assured the C. not to mention somewhat superhuman... Long live the Wolveretti? or maybe Paciorine?
-
I agree that Carey is one of the leaders on the team, but I just cant get over a goalie as captain. Call me old fashioned, but it just wouldn't feel right in Montreal to break that tradition.
-
I just read David Stubb's newest article and thought wow ... the choice is simple now. I predict that he will officially be named Captain before the start of the next season, In reverence to our future leader I have changed my Avatar.

I missed the wild game thank god. seriously how do you get outshot 30 - 10 in the first two periods against the wild. they were just not prepared....
