  1. You are right no doubt about it. I'm just pointing out that it's easy to forget everything and just run for the border, also Souray could forget everything Montreal did for him simply because he might be offended by the low Gainey offer compared to Markov. One could go on for days of the different circumstances. I will stand by my original gut feeling. BTH stated it's what I want to happen, as apposed to what will happen but here it is again. Because of the professionally handled silence. No teams are even really reporting that they are after Souray like some are that they want Drury or Gomez. I beleive Gainey will meet Souray in the middle of any reasonable offer Souray lands and he will remain a Montreal Canadien. Briere will sign with Montreal. Gainey will then wait and see what team sendsthemselves over the cap with a greedy signing and will go after a player in trade to help them and us out. Maby Marleau....I hope after San Jose gives Drury something stupid like 8 million
  2. So if I walked up to you and said you can do exactly what your doing now but I'll pay you an extra 1/3rd of what you've been offered and you will live closer to your daughter.....where would your loyaty stand? and also I'll take that Montreal media off your back.
  3. -Gainey and Briere are flying around Montreal in a helicopter right now and Gainey is saying 6.2 million/4 years. Briere will sign at 12:01 p.m sunday afternoon. If we want a great center now or later it's going to cost 6 and up. There is no reason why we shouldn't pay someone the money. Briere may not be big but he is good and he'll have big wingers. Go for it BOB!!!! You can't lose. Usually the media is expecting the Shannahan or Arnott or Dumont....This year they're taking a step back and saying nothing major will be done. That's when it's going to happen. I think Bob will go for it and sign Souray while he is at it.
  4. Maby he has a deal with Gainey to see what numbers are thrown at souray and then Gainey will have 24hrs to decide if he'll pay that for Souray. Seems like a fair deal between two honest men. I can't see why else the silence. This is assuming that Souray really does want to stay in Montreal but doesn't want to give up or lose out on the big payday. I guess there is still hope
  5. Hey, I was googling free agents and even Tsn says Teemu is UFA. I know he might retire, but isn't worth getting him in a habs Jersey just so him and Saku can CRUSH. No one has mentioned it any reason why?
  6. ewwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!! (not you but what your saying......I think your right!) EDIT Wait........it was him who was the only one in the last game that actually tried to put the Laffs away. Ahhhh nevermind is it October yet?
  7. I agree with you. I was just saying if someone was to offer him a bunch of cash. That's my problem with Ryder. Yes he has a great shot. It just seems he's on the verge of a really crappy season, more so than great. I think he has peeked and has too many flaws to justify a large salary. When we are down by a couple of goals I don't ever feel like " MAN PUT RYDER ON!!'' or during a power play " LOOK OUT!!!! RYDER IS ON HERE COMES A GOAL " He is just not a threat. I hate Tucker but he brings more to the table than Ryder.......Souray for the first time in a long time was bringing this deadly weapon to our Habs team. When the power play came you new he was going put it in, and now we're going to lose him. I love Ryder I just dont know if he can keep bringing it. I'm on the fence with him. So is Gainey hence the short term deals.
  8. I stated in another thread if someone made an offer for Ryder we should let him go because next years draft will be deep and 3-4 million which Ryder would demand gives us 1st ,2nd, and 3rd round choices as compensation. I wouldn't want to give that up for Parise. Besides I think I've heard in the past from Gainey himself in an interview that he doesn't do business that way(meaning signing RFA). That obviously comes from respect for his peers. Now let's see if respect is given back or will someone try to rip Ryder away. That could change everything.
  9. I'm glad too. It's important to carry and understand the team tradition. Not just the habs but it's your friggin team. When you put on the Jersey you become a loyal warrior that will fight to death. That has been missing from our team for quite some time. I hope that drafting loyal fans will bring back that energy....O-ya and we get rid of Kovalev.
  10. Here's a thought as far as RFA's go. What do you guys think about this scenario. Yes, Ryder is good with a lot of downside. There are probably better 30 goal guys to be had if there is cap room.We may already have it in one of the kids that will get a full blown chance this year. (Laty,Pleks, ####, etc....) Ryder is hard to negotiate with so let's say a really crappy team or a team Gainey feels will end up in the bottom somewhere next year gives him an offer for 3 to 4 million which you know it will be. Do we match or take the compensation. Which would be a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round pick? I say take the picks if the draft is deep next year. By the way I have a feeling Gainey is going to sign Souray and Briere, Get Marleau and trade Kovalev for some medium level player with potential and a pick. Just a gut feeling.
  11. SAKS AVENUE RUMOUR HABS will land both Briere and Marleau. For Marleau we will give the rights to negotiate with Souray,Ryder, Emelin and a second round pick in 08.
  12. 22. Montreal Canadiens, LW Max Pacioretty, Sioux City, United States Hockey League. The Canadiens may be getting another Erik Cole. He projects to be a power forward with quickness and a hard shot. He was a 20-goal scorer for Sioux City and he showed a memorable physical presence.[/i] Mmmmm, Erik Cole... how many times did that sunovabitch hurt us? Time to have one of our own... Let's Hope. I believe Gainey has a plan and it is obviously to become fast and tough. That's one thing that will always kill the Pens. They are skilled but not tough. Besides.....It was a little hurtin, watching the look on Espo's face when he was waiting to get picked. I know he's just a kid but that pout drives me nuts. Ribs had it....Kovalev has it......Espo has it.....
  13. Yes I agree but one thing was keeping me from sleeping last night, and that is meeting Pittsburgh all season and possible play-offs. Espo will be a scoring leader on that team. Team him up with fellow converted habs hater and killer Crosby ........WE ARE SCREWED when it comes to playing the Pens. It will come to bite us in the ass in a few years and RDS and Patrick Roy will be giving us the "I told you so" and I am not looking forward to that. Reading these forums is going to suck as well. Espo is not a bad hockey player and has proven he can score some sweet goals especially when he is surrounded by great players which he will be. Let's just hope that Cary and this big all american defense we are building will be able to shut them all down. In a nutshell I agree with posters who say Espo would have crumbled in Montreal, but Geez Pittburgh.....that will haunt us for a long time.
  14. If they do pick ESPO you can look forward to front pages of the Gazette to look like this..... Since the draft isn't very deep and we need a crazy a$$ forward that can fight I would take a chance on Akim. No-one has really mentioned that kid. It seems the hazing incident is talked about more. Maby pick him later then 1st round but we need a Chris Neil type. Towards the end of last year Refs were letting shit go and with the new instigator rule expect the bullies to start making a comeback.
  15. Also that vorobov(sp) kid....what happend to him? he started out really great and then disappeared. http://www.nhl.com/nhl/app?service=page&am...91&tab=crst
  16. There probably was no deal if Cullimore wasn't invoved It's only proof that Gainey values Markov a lot more then you do and more then he values Souray who will get six somewhere else. I'm not dogging what your saying. I agree it's a lot of money but it seems to be the going rate for a player you value. Sends a good message to Andrei and you know he will be teaching the kids all his secrets. Who else would you fill his shoes with?, that would be cheaper.
  17. Good vibes surrounding this team this summer. Get everyone in the tank so we can start focusing on winning a cup. Bummer about Souray still not signing. Fate will lead the habs the right way......I don't blame Souray for going the money route. It's his right at this point in his career to grab more dough if it's available somewhere else. Go HAbs Go Is it September yet?
  18. Along with some of the dopes that do the same in these forums. Congrats Saks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your kidding right?
  19. -If for some dumb reason we keep Sammy, It might be really interesting to have an entire line of elite players that are considered problem childs. I say it might be a good thing if Carbo can handle them, and of course Yashin would have to be 1 year 1 to 1.5 million. It could be a scary friggin line. I never really followed Yashins career but when ever I caught a game and he was playing I always thought he was a dangerous player. Is he a leader in anyway? Could he inspire Sammy and Kovalev. Wait a minute..........No-one can inspire that selfish HOG(KOVALEV). It would be a very risky move and I don't know if we can afford it. It COULD be really great like a russian version of Spezza Heatley and Alfredson or crash and burn down our entire dressing room. WOW! Something in me would like to see it though. If it was great of course.
  20. I think he will too in the next 2 or three years, but one team that is going to have something to say about it is Pittsburgh. It will probably come down to goaltending and if Price continues what he has shown us so far he will be the man to gel everything together. A little more help on D and a powerhouse center and you can bet your life it will happen. Now just for JINX SAKE can you please remove that picture.
  21. He's done the one year thing with these three guys I think. All three of them desrve something more solid and i fell they will get it.
  22. I'm going to agree here. Kovalev has now put himself in a situation where all his demons are right in front of him. Russia doesn't want him. He's realized messing with Carbs isn't going to work. Gainey won't defend him. His team won't defend him. All of the suuden it's Alex Kovalev and a mirror. Nice. This next season Alex will be trying to prove something, and that is right where we want him.
  23. Just like gas prices JMMR, It will never come back down. If it does it won't happen for a long ass time.....and at that point the NHL will be in a lot of trouble. We as Canadien fans deserve to have money spent on a couple of star players if not more to help bring the cup back to Montreal. I want BG to be smart about it but after selling out every fricking game this year? ICE a Hell of a good team M$%#ther F*&^Ker.....Oya....The ticket hike too........ SPEND >>>SPEND >>>>SPEND.
  24. Who said they would......?????
  25. From what I've been reading and understand , yet I don't think anyone has mentioned in these forums is that Gainey has stated that Johnson , Bonk, Abby and Downey will not receive contract offers. In my eyes that clearly is opening up space for farm team promotions as well as openings for these cheaper European signings. Getting rid of these guys definatly gives an extra 7 million to use. So I'm thinking 2-3 million will be used to fill holes and 5 to get Souray. Buy out Sammy and use the rest for a big UFA. I'm not sure of the actual numbers but I'll bet that Gainey will climb pretty close to the ceiling this year and try and dump Kovalev and one of our goalies by the trade deadline. Am I missing anything? O-ya Gainey trades both 1st round picks, Locke and Milroy to grab Kane. Kane and both #### make a our third line a scoring machine. Kane just edges out Lil #### for rookie of the year. Huet gets hurt at Christmas and Price takes us to the final , Koivu is MVP. Souray sucks all year and we hate his guts, Kovalev has a career year after he leaves us.... on a line with Ovechkin ( we get some farm help in the trade)........Patrick Roy takes over behind the bench when Carbs has a sudden heart attack during a Leaf game. Higgins scores 50 goals. MAN, this speculation is killing me..... but I do like it......
