If Grabovski can show he can play on either the second or third line then he will probably stick with us for the season with Murray as the odd-man out. Lapierre, even playing badly, can do anything Murray can and more (except lose fights) so he's pretty much guaranteed a spot. chipchura has also shown that he cna play on the fourth and I'm thinking that using him on the first here is more about seeing the other centers in their appropriate positions than him earning a spot.

While Markov has a reputation for being quiet I remember hearing someone (whom I can't name at the moment) say this about him: Once he's on the ice, he never shuts up.

Choice 2, he's going to get better and we need to keep him around for it.

As much as I don't like it (I really want to see Latendresse-Smolinski-Ryder and hate the idea of the Bouillon-Dandenault pairing) that seems to be a really probable lineup.

Ryder will surprise everyone this year.

I see him more as a Yannick Perreault who can play defense.

Rumours are that he's going to retire for sure now that Anaheim picked up Bertuzzi. It'd be nice if we could land Selanne, but who would we move over to LW?

D or LW, we still don't have a single LW who is NHL ready.

The only issue I have with the Smolinsky signing is that we'll never get a chance to see Latendresse-Lapierre-Ryder... 3rd lien will be: Lahti-Smolinsky-Kovalev.

Nagy wouldn't be too bad, but I don't understand Bertuzzi... we're stacked at RW as it is. Yashin can be good or bad: 2 years, play him with Kovalev and pray. A better option would be Handzus. LW is by far are most pressing need... I really hope we do something about it.

You're probably right. For some reason I had it in my head that he was looking for 5-6 million a year and had been discounting him because I didn't want to see us overpay like that, but for 4 a year, he's just catapulted to the top of my list. Four years at 16 million, for a Super-Bonk? Damn right. So who do you think would play on his LW (RW Kovalev)? Latendresse? How about Zubrus?

My #1 choice for our FA forward pick-up (because we'd be more likely to get him without overpaying), after him is Stefan, than Smolinski, Ortmeyer, and Asham to round out the top 5.

X-Lapierre-Ryder X is: Latendresse - physical line Lahti - give Ryder power play time and he'll still get his 30 goals. Higgins - unlikely to break up HPK, either Lats ot Lahts could take his place I really want to see Koivu-Kovalev, and I think Ryder could do well with Lapierre as long as he's given someone to work with on the opposite wing.

More likely to play with Chipchura and Latendresse. That'll be a big mean line.

Samsonov will rebound this year... the question is if it will be with the Habs.

I thought everyone here had agreed that +/- is a meaningless stat. We'd have to rewatch the entire season to prove what I'm talking about, because being in position is not a stat.
