  1. Koivu and Kostitsyn need to add a different move for the shootout to their repertoire. Sure that move looks great but pretty often, the goal just knows it now...
  2. Yea i was thinking the same thing. I enjoy Lats and Chipchura combo. at least we saw some spark from Koivu tonight. Problem arise when you dont even notice him other than when he plays on the PK lol. I do wish he'll rebound
  3. basically he's playing cooperation with everyone. Also i loved how the kid blocked a few passes in the neutral zone. He did suceed to stop a few attacks from the Flyers. A little bit more control and it was a turn over in neutral zone for Flyers. For a kid with 25ish games in Hamilton, his ability to make quick decisions was impressive for 1st NHL game. He did make great passes for Higgins and he i did noticed him a couple of times. perhaps the only so far player this year to exchange the puck with higgins and koivu without freaking loosing the puck all the time like Dandy, Kosto and Ryder. Note : he's so much better than Andrei along the boards.... Anyway my 2 cents.
  4. The problem is we need to reinforce our centre line, in my mind...we need to trade something else for a centre without getting appart from koivu, plek and chip. I kinda agree with you tough, that lineup would of been great.
  5. Aye do a lobbying to get John Tavares into next year draft and finish last and do rebuild plan over the next 3 years... At the moment, trades seems very hard to do...i dont see anyone who TRUELY would want anyone in the CH AND that has the salary cap and idealy i bet Bob wants to deal with a western team. I doubt he would want to trade a potential future goalie to the lightning or atlanta hehe The margin we had to deal just melted with 2.2 cap hit from price, 1.5 something from Chip and around 650 000 from S Kost. In my mind if this slump continues....it's gonna be a long ass winter. We truely need a GOOD ethic veteran who has WON in the past and IMPACT player... Well guess what, all other teams do and want that type of guy and wont give anyone of that nature away unless he has X issues... Do we really need more problems in Montreal? hehe All trades arent beneficial... as much as they said we had a lot of rookies depths...well the ones who can help us as we speak arent simply ready yet to assume that role for a full season. We have one of the youngest NHL Team. Look at all the rookies each year...4-5 new faces each time. But we have no one in our lineup who has actually played a Strong role in winning a cup or doing a lot of playoff games other than Kovalev and for playoff games : Hamrlik. Brisebois has done it LONG LONG LONG ago... If your telling me Dandenault..give me a break the guy was about as involve in the games as Georges is right now.... imagine having someone like Brind'Amour. a Gilmour type player could really help out in my mind. IF that cant be done...well ya deal what you can for 1-2 year potential players....but for that you've got someone to dance with you in the trades....
  6. Pretty nice performance. I've got to agree with all most of you, i definitely would gamble on Gorges as he's 23 and can improve for sure with a bit of STABILITY under his belt and PLAYING. Bouillon career isnt done...however in my book he barelys makes out the club top 6 and he wont get any better as a few other mentionned. O'Byrne looked strong out there...However you can really thank Hamrlik he made awesome plays and you could see he was backing and making the tough plays for a kid. In my book he made O'Byrne really good. IT doesnt take out what O'Byrnes did on the ice but certainly helped him shine for his 1st NHL Game. That's Hamrlik role on the 2nd pair with the youngster. I'd like you to comment on this but i was kind amazed how O'Byrne looked fast for such big defenseman. Not lightning fast but surprinsingly faster than i anticipated him to be. As for Lapierre, i think he gave what he could out there. I did miss him out of the line up. At least he's solid and an event happends each time he's on the ice...because of the forecheck, his pesty attitude, a body check or two and for now he does have a better offensive potentiel then many of our 3rd and 4th line guys. So he's a keeper in my mind. Partisan
  7. Also this happends at a period where Markov plays hurt or at least not 100% and dont look anywhere else to explain partially the CH slumps... Koivu and Ryder dont stand out at all for more than the golden chance they sometimes get and miss... other then that...Chipchura lines works. Plek and Kovy do make things sparks 80% of their game but Saku and whoever plays 4th or 3rd depending on how you see things...we get NOTHING good out of 2 lines. God Smolinski...is a right handed he can take important face offs....seriously NO he definitely sucks. Seriously do you ever see something good out of his plays and i'm trying to think of him as an overview i see NOTHING he does better than Lapierre. Make the kids play over old veterans who are at the last milestone of their career...
  8. The devils lost quite a bit of fame during past years with their recent additions not replacing the ones who left. I suppose this year will be different for Habs and Devils game. Hopefully Brodeur collapses...he always get strong games vs us. We'll certainly be a strong game if we want to win, 3-4 shots per period wont be enough to get goals past Brodeur especially since he allowed a few gifts last game, he'll surely rebound vs the Canadians...
  9. No grabovsky, no chipchura, no Kostitsyn, no Price...dont look any further...all key players for them last year. Hard to fit in their shoes even if you guys say grabvosky and kostisyn didnt break the league...they were still on the all star team of AHL and did their share of offensive production and each got a very good +-
  10. To make it short we have too many 4th lines, some play on 3rd some on 4th and some are on bench....however we have in my mind better players sitting in the AHL... I wonder how long they keep kostopoulos on 3rd line while lapierre is waiting in AHL... Partisan
  11. the guy shows no emotion he's at the antipod of his fans who would elect him god of their hometown and country...and for 1 game damnit. Listening to some fans, you shoudl already retire 31 before 33 Lol.... whenever he shows for several seasons the same attitude and that we become a true cup contender, then we can adul him. But for now, hes a prospect with potential...thats it.
  12. well Kovy hasnt had one single bad game so far, hes 3 on 3 to me. Partisan
  13. Well here are my thoughts. 1st line overall - very good, i think the 3 were very well positioned, especially Higgins. Koivu - Did pretty well, surely gave his 100% in my mind. A few of his plays with his teamates created some very good chances. Higgins- Always in the axes of passes, counterattacked many times, second effort always offensively and defensively. his move while sliding to take the puck off after a defense mistake was incredible. His move that lead to Markov Goal in PK was awesome too, he bought a lot of time and the pass was perfect. Smart plyays. Ryder- If he plays like this all year, i assure you i wont bad mouth Ryder. Made a decent ammount of a strong passes which in my mind is an addition to his offensive play that isnt always there for Ryder. Grabovsky- I saw sparkles of talent, he does have lightning speed. Koivu could babysit this guy a little to show him how to play better 1 on 1 while being small. I think sometimes he doesnt use his speed enough to undiscover himself from his marksman from the opposing team. Kovalev- Unlucky crossbars is the habit for Kovy hehe. I think he played very well. Kostitsyn- definitely 2nd line material and he has the potential to make a lot of points. He has an awesome vision, he's one of the few players with Markov and Kovy who can find the 4 other players on the ice in the offensive zone with a slick precise pass. He has the nose for the net also. His first half of this game wasnt his best but it was basically the same for Grabovsky and Kovy. Plekanec- played excellent too bad he has wingers who just can not play in the offensive zone he needs better wingers. ( I think JJMR pretty much said what was on my mind). I would definitely not scratch Grabovsky yet however i think Plek should end up with kost and Kovy pretty soon. Kostopolous - A big begin however he's 4th line material and PK material in my book. And God what was he doing on the PK for god sake... Latendresse - In my mind and i'm french canadian, 2 bad penalities, invisible guy. Turtle pace....Very bad plays. The puck never sticks to his hockey. He's definitely not having a good start. He has the worst to me in Carolina and he was in the worst for sure this game to me. Smolinski- "he belongs with Plekanec the one shift together they had at least 2 good scoring chances. Played well." - JJMR For sure if Plek or him arent move to 2nd line if Grabovsky line doesnt work...I see them together as well. Dandenault - played very well but with Smolinski and Begin that's a 4.7 M for a 4th line.... Begin- I think his forechecking was pretty decent, their line was the most consistent line, hardly bad shifts except an icing or two. Komisarek- He'll rebounce...not his best game but i think we'll see Komi more into the traffic this year. Markov- Very good offensively and i saw a sparkle of physical play. He did some very good moves defensively also but the 2-3 giveaways that he did tonight were costly especially on 3rd goal if im not mistaken. Hamrlik- Simply awesome to me. Whenever it's on his side of the play, i'm trusting him to make the right move. he's a sound defensemen who can make good passes. I would see him more with Streit that Brisebois. Brisebois- He did very good moves offensively. Him and Hamrlik did a good of defensive plays together. However you could see the weaker of this pair was definitely Brisebois. He's definitely a good passer and he's a good skater. But in my mind like in many others, he would probably a 6th defensemen. Streit - He's definitely 4th or 5th. Hopefulyl Streit wont get benched this year. Bouillon- As much as like Bouillon, i'd like to try out Gorges. Gorges is a decent defenseman who,s 23 yrs old who needs to play for sure. If he played into 64 games with the Sharks last year, i do not see why we arent giving him a spot on our defensive squad when the 5th or 6th defenseman get bad games. Huet- Made some very good saves and allowed 2 goals that should of been stopped ( or at least one should of happened, the 2nd one) one in OT from Kaberle and the goal from his bad play when he went out of the night. And for god sake where was the defense on White shot from the point. Kaberle has a very good shot but like a goal from Carolina, it went thru him again Carbonneau – Probably put Bouillon has he's a good skater and could of attacked well on 3 on 3. Referes...God They were so Toronto Biased tonight. Habs - Gotta capitalize on your chances and polish your plays to put it in.
  14. the kid didnt play that bad really, you guys are harsh for a first nhl game... I personally like the gamble... I would more throw back Kosopoulos on 4th and put Smolinski on 3rd as a winger...that would give Plek more options than having Slow ass latendresse who cannot bring a puck thru a neutral zone ...
  15. 93 pts 8th spot, get the spot with more wins than the leafs are at 93 pts but 1 less victory /nod that would be sweat.
  16. Hamerlik did an awesome defense play. god the 2 goalers are goaling very well tonight
  17. Tom K work in the first period 2 hits, 2 blocked shots...good start for him, didnt look too good in preseason. Partisan
  18. the guy went thru rough family times also which might of hindered some of his development. He's still a young defenseman and defenseman hit their peak later usually. He's gaining experience....h'ell be up there eventually, will be a be lindstorm...heck no. Can he be a force brute defenseman ...i think so.
  19. I think the Marleau rumors should of been wiped out when the Sharks signed him for that many years... Secondly, i feel that Lapierre got outplayed in the position of a centerman like others have mentionned. I must agree that i was foreseeing Lapierre more like a winger...and thats exactly the argument they have given him....Go make yourself and adapt in the AHL to a winger...possibily a left wing as we dont have many of them and i assure you we will see him back later. as for OByrne it was kind of natural it was either that or we loose a defenseman to the waivers. Maybe one of these defensemen will interest a team as an add on and also they are well aware of the injuries factor.....This year we have backups... Also Price attitude doesnt always please me....why oh why is he always he's satisfied with his game....I dont know his justification sometimes felt like he was a winner in the attitude department. On the other hand in a pratice he broke a stick when he was getting scored on several times in a row...is there a double saying in his comments? Anyway the player is young, we'll see in time... Partisan
  20. if you take 3 players out of our line up...god we look soooo weak..
  21. well Plekanec is nearly the only veteran who was very good in exhibiton game...if you take a look at an other win...Latendresse and 2 goals from D'agostini who got 2 passes and made this trio work...Plekanec...
  22. Well Huet seems to be back with a good team tonight so far!
  23. kinda fun that we got the 3 best scorers of the last biellorusian tourney and now theyre all on the same line, we all know A kost and Grabovsky have played together a lot and i think S Kost is a natural addition to that line up. I heard michel villeneuve on the Zone from Radio-Canada say they were all short kids but they skate very well, good puck handlers, they all have a decent shot and A Kost as the best one. From the physical point of view, if you look at the hits that S Kost has done in OHL....he didnt look afraid of heavy traffic or anything... I wish i could of watched this game, i guess it's Radio time
