  1. I wasn't very fond of Jay Leach. I don't think he would've been a good addition to the depth chart anyway. It's too bad we didn't have one of those Rivet/Gorges type trades with San Jose again (not that Gorges is amazing ATM.....)
  2. Damn...you got me excited when I saw the word Andrei...that was the climax Then I saw the K...and that was the demise jk...big boobs isnt that bad. Hope he can get the ball rolling and get some consistency in his game
  3. I wont be missing Chips at all. Not so sure why people on here were so high on him? He never did much anyway. Good Luck in Anaheim staying with the big club is all i have to say...not good luck...because he was nothing short of a failure for us.
  4. Georges Samsonov :puke: Buy him out so he can get back to writing blogs for sportsnet!
  5. Finally that tugboat is out of the system! Amen to that. I think the purpose of this trade was to improve on speed, which is what Gainey and Martin are trying to build this team on. IMO, latendresse was never going to pan out to what fans hoped for. Each and every habs game I've went to, i watched Guillaume in warm-up. He never ever could hit the net. His confidence was always shaky, and he always gripped that stick a little too tight and missed chances that should have been buried. I'm going to stay very firm on this and say the Habs won in this deal. Pouliot is around my age...he was great coming up in junior, and I am excited to see him in a Canadiens jersey. His only con is that he comes off as cocky....if he can weather the storm there, I am optimistic he will be a Nick Foligno-type player for the Canadiens.
  6. Useless=Laraque's purpose on the Habs You want a fighter...just bring gregory stewart up
  7. He really didn't need defense last night....his GAA is terrible (37th/40 goalies currently to be exact), and last night's game was a little more justification that his confidence is non-existant. What he needs to do is go back to the drawing board, and do the things that worked for him in the previous two seasons. Popovic goal: must have Skate deflection goal: a result of him cheating and not trusting the d-men to prevent the cross crease pass Peverly goal: positioning was way off. Solution: should have pushed out to challenge, but instead was far too deep in his crease I am not a Price hater whatsoever, nor am I a goalie expert. I'm pretty sure it's safe to say that it is not only my patience that is becoming short-lived for this season on Price, but also others who post on this board, and a growing percentage of Canadiens fans worldwide as well. What I am attempting to imply is a game like such should be two points, no matter which way you look at it. It also was a prime opportunity for Price to rebound against a team with a sidelined superstar. Those two points could potentially cost the Habs home ice advantage in the playoffs, and maybe even missing the playoffs entirely. Bottomline: Letting in that many goals against the Thrashers without Kovalchuk is not acceptable, and expecting your team to put up 6, when you let in 5 (unless your the Washington Capitals), the chances of winning are close to nil
  8. Price was the difference tonight...unfortunately. His mediocre goaltending and his inability to recover after letting in a soft goal was not there. Carey needs his confidence back...simple as that. On a side note, I have no idea how he won the Molson Cup for the month of October...it should have went to Gionta, Cammalleri or Halak I think Halak deserves another start in Boston...as Price lost 4 in a row for the playoff series....it will be beneficial. It's hard to keep your team in the game when you let in 5 goals on 28 "saves"
  9. Price Doesn't Have Any One of those goals...in fact...If he started tonight...he probably lets in more
  10. Am I losing my mind or did I just see Gainey and Burke together in a Box on CBC? :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke:
  11. My point IS price CANNOT make a SAVE when it MATTERS at the moment Can we not agree on that at least? I didn't say Price played poorly last night...by no means did he. He played like a slightly above average goaltender. It doesn't matter if his name is Carey Price or not, the bottom line is Habs fans want wins. I don't care who's in goal for the Canadiens....if he stops pucks and steals games for us, leave him in there. That is my justification for Halak..he comes up with those pressure saves that Price cannot seem to make right now. Price hasn't been on his 'A' game this season... If you look at Sharp's game winner again...the goalie should be stopping that puck 9/10 times, especially if he makes himself big. I think if anything...it's not Price's fundamental goaltending errors right now as much as it is confidence issues. I want Halak in tonight...for this reason only. If Price does in fact start tonight, and takes a Loss to our biggest rival with only 1 win (see leafs record in Montreal the past 4 seasons...and you will be VERY surprised)...the media will eat him alive. So with that being said....you give your head a shake as well and take note of all the above
  12. they blew it...the end Price cant seem to come up with that important save when it counts Halak back in tomorrow night
  13. IMO...we`re winning hockey games and the whining and moping on this board is minimal...leave Jaro in!!!
  14. I agree already and Ive barely seen Belle out there!
  15. With Regards to the Development system, Why hasnt any of our draft picks come from the CHL??? Ask yourself this...who has came to the big club straight from the OHL? (which is FULL of great talent) ex: Matt Duchene for the Avs...straight from Brampton and getting a decent amount of icetime last night. I think a player like PK Subban should be eligible to leapfrog this AHL "trial and tryout season", and go straight to the show. Now I want to Analyze what Gainey's rebuilding plan was Are We Really Rebuilt? Defensively...it's a two way street We have 2 NHL ready D-men who would save us breathing room for cap space around trade deadline time (Subban, Emelin) But it's a one step forward two steps backward system. If we are done rebuilding...shouldn't we have a good, young nucleus of a blueline? Instead, look at all of a UFA signings that occurred this offseason: Spacek has done nothing superb so far (I think he's going to be a flop) Gill: was not needed IMHO (Yes we lost Komi, and yes we do need a Physical presence back there), but that is where a Subban, Belle, or Emelin-type fits in Mara: solid acquisition (great 2 way d-man) Why not let the young ones like Weber, Belle, and Subban develop like Josh Gorges did..through experience!! I can hardly notice Gorges compared to last season, his development has blossomed through NHL ice-time. Did he look NHL ready when he first came from San Jose? I certainly think not, but as the minutes added up, he learned from his fundamental errors, and continued to develop. His mistakes this season seem to be minimal, and he's not eating the cap. BG made a major mistake a few seasons ago. It feels like the he opened up a garbage disposal into a bottomless pit, got a dumptruck full of 5.5 million and dumped it..and out of that bottomless pit came Roman Hamrlik. What a waste of $ and cap space. If that space could be used to sign someone that the Canadiens could have back, I think Mark Streit was a gem that we should have fought harder for contract wise. He was worth his contract imo, unlike Hammer. So...we have to ask...two steps forward or one step backwards? Montreal needs to do stop being such an ambiguous case and develop a defensive core that stays together for years, and let the pairings develop together through time. No more short term fixes to patch up the leaks. Offensively? There is no question that the Canadiens have the firepower, but Bob Gainey made another mistake and hired the wrong coach who does not fit the playing style of this team. Moen with Gomez and Gionta...what is the logic behind that? If Carey Price wasn't our goaltender and Martin Brodeur was...I'd say sure...lets play 1 goal games. But the Canadiens are notorious for something called firewagon hockey, and they should continue to play games like such for the following reasons: a) they are more interesting b) when they do get into high scoring affairs, they seem to come out ahead This defense first system is sending offensively gifted players (such as Andrei Kostitsyn and Max Pacioretty into turmoil)...it's like they want to do something, but something within Martin's system is restricting them to break out. It will be interesting to see what happens next Off-season, My only hope is that Bob Gainey will not be the quarterback of it all :hlogo:
  16. take Laraque out of the lineup...or tell him that this game isn't like NHL10 (everything relies on board play in that damn video game!) Andrei seems lost since Sergei got sent down. I think its time for a shake-up with the lines to get more pucks in the net. Pacioretty-Gomez-Cammalleri Andrei-Plekanec-Gionta Latendresse-Lapierre-Sergei Stewart-Metropolit-Moen
  17. Had we won that game, we shouldve gotten 4 points, 2 for beating the opposition, 2 for beating the refs...that was downright awful refereeing
  18. Let me start by pointing out the inevitable 1) we're a new group 2) the scheduling is downright ridiculous (5 games on the road to start the season no team should have to endure) Why is this thread even up? We are 4 games deep into the season! You cant judge a book on the cover...the book that the Canadiens are writing for their 100/101st season has just started. I dont think anybody on here should be critiquing/analyzing the current goaltending situation. I was watching TSN the other night, and it said Roberto Luongo statistically struggles each October from the very beginning of his career. Is he still an elite goaltender? YES. There really should be nothing to worry about, Price is still young and getting blown out is going to be a part of the learning curve for him. Games like the 7-1 blowout will come every now and then...in fact, almost every team gets blown out at least once a season. In conclusion, enough with the the "goaltending swap" threads and the whining about the newcomers who have played sub-par and marginal hockey through these four games. Lets be real Canadiens fans, stop the pessimism, and believe in this group that they can get it done this year. Last time I checked, the season is 82 games long :hlogo: :hlogo: :hlogo:
  19. The offence looks very stale..not enough shots on goal, minimal work ethic And lazy efforts all around then again...if we lose...I blame this loss on the National Hockey League...what other teams start the season 5 games on the road?
  20. I've seen enough...Weber isn't NHL ready...Kesler and Raymond both made him look like a pilon
  21. Hey guys...u know what would be nice A POWERPLAY
  22. is it just me...or did the refs keep their whistles in the dressing room for this one?
  23. Still tonnes of time left...be optimistic and good things will happen unlike last years team...this team does not seem to have quit in it!
  24. Wooo T-Plex. Now if only Big T!ts would get going...
  25. The first one...by all means...do it... But as for MaxPax...dont give up on him that easy...if we gave that useless (as he continues to prove he is just that) p.o.s Chipchura this much time to prove himself, don't you think MaxPax deserves at least 2 seasons for developmental purposes? A comment on the 3rd flames goal...halak stood zero chance...gotta let him see pucks clearly.
