  1. The only place Ryder should be breaking into is the PINE...
  2. If they play like they did in the 2nd...not a hope in hell
  3. Kovalevs line should be having more time then the first line.... I hate to say it..but they are causing so much more momentum and chances
  4. AT LEAST WE WERE WINNING IN THAT GAME AND COULD AFFORD IT
  5. THATS IT..BENCH MARKOV...3 PENALTIES>..STUPID STUPID STUPID!
  6. I'm not trying to imply that Huet should never get a start again for the Canadiens against the Leafs, however, starting Price would most likely be the best option. For example.. The leafs have the same dilemma right now...Toskala has won his last two against us....But Raycroft is coming off a shutout...Who are they most likely going to start? I remember a few weeks ago Huet came off a shutout, and they started Price the very next night....They didn't ride the right goaltender...Also, my mistake on 5 minutes for Ryder...I would give him a period and a couple of PP's to prove himself...If things aren't working out for him out there, then by all means change the lines up. The only reason I say put dandy back on the D is because I don't want either Gorges or Boullion in (and I highly doubt that O'Byrne is going to get the call from the A). So...with that being said...This thread wasn't about a goaltending controversy...I know for a fact Huet is our number one and has played Outstanding for us all season long, but some changes up front are necessary. Like I said before, you can't expect to win every single game by nursing a one goal lead. If we play 60 minutes of hockey, come out hard, forecheck hard, gain the lead...and keep coming at them...it will catch the Leafs by surprise. It seems like the last couple of games we have played against them, we almost played it like we hoped we'd just get a point out of the game. That's okay and all, but IMO, I'd like to see a hungry Habs team who smells blood in the water and ATTACKS from the beginning and keeps the foot on the accelerator. GO :hlogo: GO
  7. So...we're 0-2 vs The Maple Leafs...How Do We solve them? 1) Start Carey Price...The Leafs seem to have Huet's number as of late. Huet is 0-3 against the Leafs in his last 3. By having Price in net, it poses new challenges 2) DO NOT let the Leafs gain early momentum...neutralize the crowd by coming hard out of the gate like we did against the Senators 3) No irresponsible penalties early in the game (Wellwood, Tucker, and McCabe are going to help Toronto's PP a lot) 4) In order to win, they must play a full 60 Minutes of hockey...not 57...not 58...not even 59:59 5) Bench the slackers...Promote the diggers. If Michael Ryder continues his poor play, demote him from the first line within the first 5 minutes of the game. IMO, a changing up of lines is necessary so our 5 on 5 play improves. Higgins-Koivu-Chips Kostitsyn-Pleks-Kovy Kostopoulis-Smoke-Grabovski Lats-Begin-Ryder D pairings stay the same....but I would like to see Dandenault go in place of Cube or Gorges 6) Powerplay must be effective and stay hot, however, in order to get powerplays...they must achieve #2 and #4 first. Also, it would be nice to get a little more congestion in front of Toskala and a few attempts to tip shots 7) Do not sit back and go into "defensive mode". It is important to remain defensively responsible, yet forecheck and pressure has to be executed...We can't nurse a one goal (or even a two goal..as we remember the nightmare game of the season last year) Lead!!!!! If all seven of these are Accomplished, I can see the Canadiens coming out with a big victory. Any other keys to the game...add them to the thread GO :hlogo: GO
  8. Well...my wish today is the Habs win for my Birthday!! Kovalev gets a Hat Trick Price gets the donut And we start this road trip off with some serious offence!!! GO :hlogo: GO!!!!
  9. Well you can factor in the fatigue from playing back to back nights...... Before the shootout I said to myself...I remember price in that shootout and he was absolutely phenomenal in the game VS the USA when he was on Team Canada...I had faith!!! I'm just happy crysby didn't win it for the penguins =D
  10. Yah your right im giving them way too much credit... If you heard me and my thoughts during the actual game...you'd know that I actually meant approximately a period off
  11. Well it sucks that we gave them a point...but I still got the satisfaction when Markov tucked it between this random Sabourin guys pads. Solid road trip...solid offensive effort...seems like we took a few shifts off tonight though. Overall, good effort!
  12. Thank you to everyone who has joined my Kovy facebook group thus far!! If you know anyone who is also a Kovy fan, feel free to invite them to it. If you didn't know...he is one point shy of 800 and is playing in his 1,000th career NHL game on Friday!
  13. Also, feel free to post pics or videos (preferably from your own camera)
  14. Yah...Carbo is not very smart in that aspect. We are having a terrible time putting the puck in the net right now. I think his idea of changing it up is right, but the formations he's brought thus far are mediocre at best. Ryder-Koivu-Kovalev Kosty-Pleks-Higgins Latendresse-Smoke-Lapierre Begin-Chipchura-Grabovski Lets say the hell with the "grinders" for once, and go with an all out offensive team!
  15. I couldn't be bothered to read the past 13 pages of this thread, therefore I am uncertain if this topic has already been brought up....Did anyone notice that Kovalev was being DOUBLE SHIFTED tonight? In that aspect, it is wonderful that him and Carbo have come to terms with each other. Secondly, during the 3rd period...did anyone notice a big yellow/brownish circle in Gerbers net in the white ice? Did he puke during a commercial break or something? I swear he had to have! Lastly...once again...not every shift was played 110% tonight. Kostopoulis should just be perma press box with Murray. I am almost certain that lapierre has learned his lesson in the AHL and will be hungry to play. I really hope to see him in the lineup against the Sabres Saturday night. All in all...the game really should have been 3-3 (because Heatley blatantly interfered with Brisebois prior to receiving that breakway pass!). Good Game for MTL...more often then not they will win dogfights like tonight...(however the sens are like a raging Pitbull right now ..lets hope the complexion of that changes over the year) GO :hlogo: GO
  16. Normally I agree with you on these matters Cucumber, however, the entire team played responsible the entire game. If the zero tolerance policy for penalties was just implemented, I would let that slide, however Komisarek is very aware that what he did is a penalty in the league now. Also, Gorges had a very nice goal vs the Sens in the last preseason game. Carbonneau is letting his point be known that if you aren't willing to play 110% every shift, then there is a spot welcome for you in the pressbox. I think Komisarek has goofed up more than enough times in the past. What you state challenging him would be the best way to go, I would usually say go for it, however it could also work if he has some time to reflect on his mistake in the pressbox. Vokoun was outstanding tonight...we couldn't get two goals past him even if we wanted to, therefore I was actually thankful they were fortunate enough to get that go-ahead goal.
  17. As I posted Earlier on page 1 of this thread... Keys to the game: Kovalev needs to stop hitting the damn post and score an actual goal Garth Murray/Kosto need to know their role and set the damn tone with some early hits Stay out of the box (horton, weiss, jokinen=lethal) Komisaurek rex needs to scrap, especially if someone pisses him off Huet bails us out a couple of times All of the Above were basically achieved...And yet we still lose! Very irresponsible penalty from Komisarek at the late phase of the game..its not like it was a game saving penalty. There was no chance posed for a scoring opportunity there...very unnecessary. In fact....since he was so irresponsible in doing such...I would give Gorges a chance thursday night and let him watch a game from the pressbox.
  18. why do i have a bad feeling about this game... Keys to the game: Kovalev needs to stop hitting the damn post and score an actual goal Garth Murray/Kosto need to know their role and set the damn tone with some early hits Stay out of the box (horton, weiss, jokinen=lethal) Komisaurek rex needs to scrap, especially if someone pisses him off Huet bails us out a couple of times
  19. Okay...will someone please enlighten me why Garth Murray is put in over Dandy? Honestly the hockey ive watched out of Dandenault has been by far the best I have seen him play since his arrival to Montreal (no lie). Secondly, thank heavens about Gui goin to the press box to watch the game...time for him to come back to reality that being on a hockey team isn't a popularity contest. Lastly, not liking these lineups out of Carbonneau at all! Ive said it before and i'll say it again...this is what i want the lines to be! Ryder-Koivu-Kovalev Kostitsyn-Plekanec-Higgins Smolinski-Grabovski-Chipchura (non press box)-Begin-Streit Markov-Komisarek Hamrlik-Brisebois Gorges-Dandenault I wouldn't mind seeing Boullion miss a few games and watch a few from the press box either...his play has been subpar as of late. I think that would work....nonetheless hopefully everything works well and Garth Murray puts on some kind of clinic like Chad Kilger did vs the Sabres last night. lmao
  20. that is such BS...i cannot believe how the NHL can even do such a ridiculous thing and force Habs fans conform to buying the centre ice package (which is pretty price!). I live in North York...and I've had no problems with blackout restrictions thus far (with Rogers...channel 673). If you are really desperate to watch the game, and live in the GTA, go to Wegz (they have 2 locations in the GTA i believe), have some beers and request that the game be put on...More than likely they will throw it on for you! Also, there is an all Habs pub downtown Toronto, i forget the name of it but if you look it up I'm positive you will find it!
  21. Hey JMMR, I'm totally down if you'd like to go and see a game in Buffalo sometime (I can imagine the atmosphere will be quite amazing!) But for now, Enjoy the game in Carolina!!! GO :hlogo: GO!!!
  22. Simple as this...Without Koivu, Kovalev, and Markov...its not much of a match
