Canadiens sign Alex Semin, one year, $1.1 M
Habsfan84 replied to Machine of Loving Grace's topic in Habs & Hockey Talk
I'm a fan of this signing because there is really no risk in the signing. Worst case scenario, if he's terrible you send him down to the minors. Since his cap hit is so low when you put him in the minors his cap hit to the Habs will only be 175K. Essentially nothing. If he has a great season then all the better. We needed someone else for our top 6, and throughout most of his career he has been that player. If he has a great season and the Habs want to resign him, they better be sure to give him no more than one year deals. He could also be a stop gap for Scherbak. This will give him a year in the minors to learn the professional game. Then after that we welcome Sherbs into the fold. -
Signing Habs re-sign Tinordi to One Year Two-Way Contract
Habsfan84 posted a topic in Habs & Hockey Talk
Well 'dlbalr' was right when he posted in the Bournival signing when talking about Tinordi to not "be surprised to hear of him signing in the near future". Two days is pretty near future. Very few details at this point but is for 1 year and is a two way contact. He will need to go through waivers to get to the AHL and would most certainly be claimed if the Habs tried it. -
I'm fine with the deal now. Prust was over paid for our bottom six. Kassian should be able to fill Prusts shoes minus leadership.
-
A project. What does Kassians contract look like? Hopefully not too much going the other way
-
Saad to Columbus. Did not see that one happening. Doesn't look like the greatest return but they obviously feared a team sending an offer sheet tmrw. Wonder what this means for Sharp?

The Habs have announced that they have re-signed Brian Flynn to a 2 year contact. I assume it will be quite cheap. Still waiting on details. This should come as a surprise to no one. Makes for a decent 13th forward.

Martin St. Louis? I know he is not really what we need since he is past his prime and small but he does play right wing, from Laval, and also still put up 52 points in 74 games this season. Not that it's likely that he would be convinced to come to Montreal since he wants to stay in the New York area, on a cheap one year contract wouldn't be bad. It was only last years deadline that he and a second round pick got Callahan, a first round pick, a second round pick and a seventh round pick.

He just missed an open net. Like that this one is still tied up. Overtime would be great

HW Playoff Pool Champions: 2010: dlbalr 2011: Habsfan84 2012: sakiqc 2013: Colin 2014: ??? 2015: ??? Just going through the old threads trying to make a list of the champions for each season we have done this. Does anyone know who won the 2014 pool? I dont remember if I was in it. From the threads I can tell that dlbalr had the lead going into the final round. Did he end up winning it?

Offseason Coaching Carousel - AKA: Babcock watch
Habsfan84 replied to dlbalr's topic in Habs & Hockey Talk
Now official to Toronto. 8 years for 50 million. Crazy amount of money for a coach but hes a pretty good one no doubt. Guess he went where the money was. -
back at it tmrw. Be hard to wake up for that one

Habs have no luck in this series. If a few bounces actually go our way we are up 2-1 in this series. But now its over.

May 1 ~ Game One: Montreal v.s. Tampa Bay

Lucky to get that one but we deserved it after we played a pretty good first two periods and missed a lot of chances where we had bad luck. -
April 26 ~ Game 6: CAPITAL PUNISHMENT EDITION
Habsfan84 replied to The Chicoutimi Cucumber's topic in Habs & Hockey Talk
I'm hoping for the Wings but I want them to lose next game and then knock of the Lightning in seven. We'll be a bit more rested if this happens. Asking a bit too much? -
April 26 ~ Game 6: CAPITAL PUNISHMENT EDITION

Huge shutout for Price and the team. First time Ottawa was shutout. Gotta give the Sens credit. A great season for them and they sure gave us a scare -
If we score on that PP I bet we come back. Unfortunately it doesn't happen and that's it for the game. Hope we can win it in game 6
-
Playing a bit better now but still not rewarded. Gotta get at least one this period
-
it was a good start. Weak one by Price is not what we needed
-
Just gotta put this game behind us and move on. The thing about winning three straight to start the series means that while it sucks we had this lack of fight tonight, we still have three more shots at it. Hopefully the Montreal fans can get the team going and give us momentum to finish it off.
