  1. So you made a new thread to draw attention to your post?
  2. I hope so. I'll be more focused on March Madness on Saturday, but I just hope we get through the game smoothly. A win would be nice, but if we give points to Toronto it further hurts their draft position. This game was a good one. D'Agostini had a solid first game. Li'l #### needs to ease up on the penalties, but that sort of thing is to be expected of him. It was nice to see the fourth line have a big game, and hopefully Smolinski continues to contribute. And of course, Carey, our hero, keep it up!! :hlogo:
  3. This post with the thread title made me confused. Damn changing of the title!
  4. Yes we've arrived. It's reasonable to say that because we have a strong young core that is still improving. Several of these players made the quantum leap this year (Komisarek, Plekanec, Gorges), but who will make it next year? Latendresse? Andrei Kostitsyn (he made a big jump this year, but there's a lot more in him)? Sergei Kostitsyn (same as as his brother)? Guys like Markov and Higgins are still on the upswing as well. We also have a great prospects pool. This team is on the verge of being a powerhouse for several years. But I'm also on the side of the cautious people. We were fortunate this year by being relatively injury-free. Plus, there was no one for real in the East this year. Those are the two main reasons that we're at the top of our division. Next year we can expect Boston to be better and less injured, same with Buffalo, Ottawa to maybe get their shit together, same with the Rangers, Pittsburgh's young stars to continue to improve, Florida and Washington to be on the rise... And maybe we won't be so lucky with injuries. There's no guarantee that we'll have home-ice going into the playoffs again, not by a long shot. But yes, we've arrived.
  5. That has more to do with the Habs being a first place team than anything.
  6. Yeah, the best is when they were all cheering in the final seconds when we were shorthanded, and Price made that glove save and the place erupted. Man I hate those Sens, what a bunch of fools. Commodore is a useless buffoon, it seems his signature move is the elbow. Neil... how do the refs keep on falling for his antics? He initiated EVERYTHING after the plays, but never got punished for it. Crosschecks Gorges into Price, grabs S. Kosty who's just standing nearby and tries to fight him... let's give em offsetting minors. And Spezza, some statement you're making by fighting Markov, you pathetic doofus. But this game was easily the most complete that we've played in a long while. Everyone came to play, and they didn't let up, even during the time Ottawa was pressing (with the help of the refs). Gorges is a warrior, he takes so much punishment but is always there for his teammates and always sacrifices to make a play. O'Byrne came through as well. Big game from Andrei Kostitsyn, got the goal and was always impliqué physiquement. Bégin was huge shorthanded, and Higgins was strong all night. Price... I love him!! "Price est vif comme un chat." I laughed out loud when Yvon said that, but damn, he was great. He made the right play each time, in his net and out. And it's nice to see him shove Neil to the ice. So the division is ours... more than I could have predicted, even two months ago. Great game, great team!
  7. Hahah April Fool's. The banana peppers part... They didn't need to make is so obvious at the end, and with the picture, but I guess some slower-witted people tend to get offended when tricked. This is a great thread Maca, I especially like Plex's blind skating. I think we'll have something to prove this game after taking the last two off. My prediction: 5-4 win. Goals by Latendresse, Lapierre, Higgins, Kovalev, Markov
  8. Yeah I remember that, but it could have been a standard reaction from seeing a goon fight a scorer. I was pissed as well, Andrei is among the last people on the team who would want to fight. It's cool that he likes those three young players, hopefully they'll be around for a while.
  9. Well if we're talking price tags, then yes he is a better value than Drury. But Drury having the same number of points on such a lower scoring team makes him a better player, in my opinion. Modano is a second line centre, Ribeiro is the first liner. Or Crosby, there's your best 2nd line C. Let's not forget that Koivu is only being compared to other 2nd liners this year because he was outclassed as the number one C by Plekanec, and lost that position. A better comparison would be to rate each team's top two centermen together. I think that would put Montreal a bit above average.
  10. Do you or your dad work there or in something related? It sounds like it's from more than just seeing a lot of games (which you seem to do). I think I remember someone mentioning that you know Kirk Muller as well. Did you hear from the horse's mouth that his favourites are Higgins and the Kostitsyn brothers?
  11. Whoa, we don't need the whole team up here, cluttering up the locker room and press box. Chips is enough, maybe one more guy if we suffer other injuries, but otherwise we stick with who's already here. The thing that Koivu is still the best on our team at is faceoffs, and that happens to be a major weakness for us.
  12. Isn't Hamilton all but eliminated already?
  13. Crapzola. Heal, foot, heal!
  14. I think I heard yesterday that the X-rays will happen on Monday. And that they already took some that were inconclusive.
  15. The only difference is that Koivu's out, and he isn't exactly a tower of strength.
  16. Price (a goalie is as important as any player, and when he plays as well as he can he's our best player) Komi Hamrlik Plex Koivu
  17. I just hope the Rangers or Sens don't fall to 7th or 8th and we end up having to face them. Same with Carolina.
  18. Do you know everyone associated with the Habs personally or something? You seem to have a lot of inside information.
  19. Are we seriously in any doubt who deserves the C and who will get it in Saku's absence? It's Kovalev, durrrr. And the whole not Canadian thing is the biggest bull. Our best players, besides Komi and Price, have been European. Higgins got the A, but has responded with a mediocre to decent season, and am I the only one who has found that he's been mopey all year? Friday night was one of the few times I've seen him visibly happy after a goal, and in post-game interviews he seems negative more often than positive. It's probably no big deal, and this year is a learning experience for him anyways. centre is probably our weakest position because of how inconsistent and unproven Grabovski is. There's no one else who can really fill an offensive role, and Grabs is better suited to bottom line duties with less responsibility. I don't think we should split up our top line, and Kovalev playing centre hasn't happened yet in Montreal, and I doubt it will. So maybe we could go for two moderately offensive lines after the first line, instead of trying to have a real second line. Something like: A Kost - Plex - Kovy Higgins - Grabovski - S Kost Latendresse - Lapierre - Ryder Begin - Smolinski - Kostopolous The third line in this case would be able to bring more physicality, and a different look for defenses.
  20. Haha, we have a thread about each new mask. Did you guys see Kovalev's new European man-purse? Quite stylish.
  21. Yep, I'd rather give points to the Leafs and hurt their draft position than most other teams. We'll beat them at home on the last game of their season.
  22. It makes sense geographically, and those are big rivalry games. I don't mind it.
  23. Nice photoshop job on your avatar there.
